One simple run-in got me more than I bargained for…and now I can’t go back. It might be dangerous, but it might just be worth a shot.Victoria Angel… hospital after being involved in a drive-by?
And how does my mysterious hero go from taking a bullet for me to getting arrested and put in prison?
His last name is Goodman, but according to the police, he’s not at all a good man. However, it feels as though fate brought us together. The police don’t agree…and my fiancé definitely doesn’t either.
Tristan Goodman…
She thinks I’m her hero, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Because of the business that I’m in and the people I surround myself with, there’s always a target on my back, and anyone associated with me is in the line of fire, including the quirky yet gorgeous Victoria Angel.
I’ve brought nothing but danger to her life the minute she bumped into me in that coffee shop. I know she’s not mine, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from going after what I want. And what I want is an angel.
She’d be wise to end all contact with me, exactly like her fiancé wishes, but I can’t leave her alone…especially after I have a taste of heaven.

I picked up this book on a recommendation from two book buddies, and after reading the synopsis I thought, it’s worth a shot! They know I love a romcom, and that I like a good laugh so I dove right in.
The first quarter of the book is fun, flirty and what I was absolutely looking for, but then it turns sideways and goes down a road that can be hard to come back from. Let’s talk a bit about the plot. Victoria is out with her sister bridal shopping. She sneaks off to buy herself a much needed cup of coffee and literally bumps into our hero Tristan and let the fun banter begin! Tristan then becomes a true life hero by saving Tori and taking a bullet from a drive by shooting that they were involved in. So now Tori is in hospital wondering who is this man that would save her life and questions her own relationship with her fiancé. Now Tristan and Tori have a connection that neither wants to sever, but the more Tori learns about Tristan, she’s not sure if he is a good man. From here, things get a little crazy.
As this is a debut novel, we can forgive some typos, and even some inconsistencies which there are a few. Yes they are annoying and they stop your flow of reading but give a new author a break. I’m sure once this she is more established she will hire an editor, or the very least get help with beta readers / proofreaders. Now saying that, I did have other issues. It is hard to create a bad boy character and still make him lovable, and for me Tristan pushed those boundaries and even stretched them to a point he might not return from. A storyline has to be believable and sometimes I felt it was too farfetched. Also the plot time frames – between two locations and at the end of the story, having an hours drive between them, caused for out of character situations. There is no way a guy like Tristan would not already be on his way to Tori when he knew she was in danger. He wouldn’t wait till hours later to get a call and then come. I also think Tori did some things out of character that seem to be added for extra drama, which I’m not a fan of. This book could have been a great fun romcom with two characters discovering their self worths and fall for each other. We get more than that, but I’m not sure it worked. I do think this author is one to watch and see what else she writes.
