Escaped convict Vordigar has been hiding out on Risda III. When he’s scooped up by law enforcement, he has two choices – he can be shipped back to the Haven prison system, or he can marry one of the locals. Piper is from an alien race called ‘humans’ and she needs a mate to help her protect her farm from aggressive neighbors. Vordigar’s not interested in forever. Or marrying. Or settling down. … settling down. He’ll go along with Piper’s plans just until he can get off planet…or so he thinks.
Because one night in Piper’s bed changes everything.

Five stars. The highest rating I’ve ever given a long short story.
Yes, this story is a long short-story according to my reckoning. (Less than 100 = short story. 100-200 novella.) Probably one of five of the best long short-stories I’ve ever read, and that’s saying something considering how many books I’ve read in my lifetime. I’m not saying this because I’m a Dixon fan. I’m saying this because I was given a great story that was complete and satisfactory to me in less than 100 pages. That’s amazing.
It’s another “marry me to protect me” Risdaverse story. Piper has finally found her peace and property, only to be harassed by a Praxiian who wants her “piece and property”. Remember Vordigar who made his cameo appearance in When She’s Ready?? This is his story. Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire. He just can’t get a break. Not only has he been captured by bounty hunters and now will have his ass hauled back to Haven II (Remember Prison Planet Barbarian?) It definitely hasn’t been his day… until Piper offers him a proposition that’s hard to refuse… if he hadn’t already promised the va’Sithai (remember the Corsairs #4?) to help out with a few bounties as well… Choices, choices…
These two main characters are absolute dears, and I could spot them in a crowd if I had to. (This tells me how good in exposition was by the author.) The continuity between many of Dixon’s books correlate well. Editing-wise, definitely better than most books in general. (Isn’t that sad?? Whatever happened to quality?) Once I finished, it was difficult to think that I just read a 63-page short story and it felt as satisfactory as most novellas and novels I’ve read in the past few years. That’s very good writing.
One of things that stunned me is that I had bought this ebook, and somehow, it had gotten lost in my Kindle-for-Mac since it came out! Shame on me!! I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve seen it since! (It feels like finding a long-missing Star Trek Classic episode!) I will most definitely be re-reading this one again soon. Great intimacy moments!

Thank you, Liz K, a reviewer on Amazon!
love how this heroine took matters into her own hand. She did not wait around for someone to rescue her, she rescued herself by making her own decisions, Yes she went through a horrific experience after being kidnap but she held on, she chose for herself and made the right choice for her when she chose Vordigar.
Short, sweet, hot human-alien interaction with just a touch of angst and drama.
Great Short Slice of Life.
Piper is a human on the planet Rasda III. She’s having trouble with the locals that think humans are less the pets. Piper must find a way to save her farm, live her life in peace, and protect herself all at once. When she goes to the local jail and picks out Vordigar for this purpose, she never intended to have feelings for him or to have someone care for her.
Vordigar never expected anyone to think him worthy of anything, let alone a human’s husband. He is surprised by his feeling for this small human female. When it is time for him to leave, he finds himself at odds with his reality and wishes.
When She’s Married, is a great short read by Mrs. Dixon. I would love to have this story expanded on since the characters are well written, and the story is excellent.
I really enjoyed this quick steamy read. It’s always enjoyable when two strangers are pushed together and sparks fly. I love how protective the hero was of the heroine. And how strong willed the heroine was. She was determined to get her happily ever after. I’ve already read it twice in two days.
Loved this story and how the characters didn’t fall into instant love despite how off the charts their sexual attraction was. Really enjoyable read.
This was such a good novella. You can defiantly feel these two’s connection when this book first starts. Vordigar is funny and flirty and Piper is serious and just want someone to protect her. It is all about the sex with these two in the beginning and it kind lost me. I am used to more emotions first but Ruby brought it back quickly. The more time they spend together they harder they fall. It was so fun watching these two come together in the end. The ending was so perfect! Piper and Vordigar are wonderful and sexy and such a great couple. I am happy that we got their story! You all need to read it!
P.S. I am obsessed with this Cover!! It is so beautiful!!
I just love this spin off series, these big blue aliens are the best and this series just flows for me the writing is perfect and the characters are wonderful I read on KU but ended up buying it just like I did with the first book.
