On the cusp of starting college, Christian Blackburn has had enough of his meddling, helicopter mother. He lucks into a room in a gorgeous house close to campus and away from the noise of dorm living. His landlord, Brandon, is a surprise. It doesn’t matter to Christian that Brandon is twice his age. He’s good looking, kind, a hell of a cook, and he doesn’t treat Christian any different because of … of his seizures.
If only Brandon wanted him back.
Brandon Hayes is comfortably divorced, but his life would be better if well-meaning people kept their nose out of his affairs. To ease his ex-wife’s concern that he’s living in a house far too big for just one person, he takes on a roommate. The much younger Christian is smart and charming. He’s older than his years, and his presence in Brandon’s life wakes something up inside he’s kept hidden from everyone. Having Christian around reminds Brandon of his attraction to men, a pull he can’t ignore.
One kiss changes everything.
Their chemistry is off the charts and their lives fit together in a way they never expect them to. Battling the age difference, a nosy parent, and the fear that people won’t accept them as a couple, they agree to keep their relationship secret. After a tumultuous weekend away, Christian decides that he wants Brandon by his side, and doesn’t care who knows about them. But what will happen once all Brandon’s secrets are out in the open?

A brilliant slow burn story with all the feels and perfect amount of heat. Loved the characters so much!
Christian was looking forward to being on his own and out from under the influence of his overly protective mother. What he didn’t expect was how hot his new landlord, Brandon, was. Brandon has kept a secret about himself for a very long time, even from himself. I found this story very sweet. I love age-gap and this one hit the spot for me. You will also get bisexual, coming out, and acceptance with this story. The relationship between Brandon and Christian felt a little a slow burn to me, which I didn’t mind at all. The storyline didn’t quite go as I was expecting it to, which was also a plus for me. I haven’t read “The Sweetest Thing,” book one, yet so you definitely don’t need to read these in order. I most definitely will be going back and reading that one as I’m curious about Nathan and Scotty’s story. If you love a sweet story with a happy ending, I highly recommend giving this one a try.
Where to start?! I love all of EM’s books and always think this ones the best, yeah well nope this one is now my firm favorite. Christian just wants to be independent, and seen as someone who is more than their disability. Brandon is trying to find more and recognize who he truly is. The flow of the story, the depth of the characters it’s all there. I didn’t want to put it down. I just wanted to devour it all, while not wanting it to end!
I absolutely LOVED this marvelous, sweet, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, charming, adorable, sexy, delightful, heartfelt, engaging, and totally awesome twist on your typical age gap, friends-to-lovers, and secret relationship storyline. I was hooked from beginning to end, and I would definitely recommend getting this gem for yourself.
This is a great sequel to The Sweetest Thing, Nathan and Scotty’s book. This one features Nathan’s brother, Christian, who is eighteen and has a seizure disorder. Christian, in a battle for independence from his overprotective mother, rents a room to live in while attending college. Brandon, Christian’s landlord and roommate, is more than twice his age, but the two don’t take long to become involved in a secret sexual and romantic relationship.
Based on the premise, this book has the potential for some serious angst. While there is drama and lots of emotion, my overall feeling about this book is more that it is incredibly sweet and romantic. I love Christian, who is young but determined and knows what he wants. I also love Brandon, who is just setting free the side of him that has always been attracted to men. I mostly love them together, making each other happy in a way no one has before.
I love and recommend both The Sweetest Thing and The Secret Thing. Christian and Nathan’s parents might not be perfect, but they raised good men who have found their perfect matches in this series. I’m very happy with the results!
This duet series is fantastic, I was so looking forward to Christian’s book and EM Denning did not disappoint!! Christian is 19 and moving out on his own, taking control of his life and his health. Moving in with Brandon who is renting out a spare bedroom was the best thing to happen.
Having feelings for someone half your age, who is renting a room off of you, is it wrong? But after one kiss, one taste, it feels so right. Brandon and Christian being together, living in a secret bubble, keeping their relationship to themselves until they don’t.
Such a sweet story, first times, slowly getting to know each other, enjoying spending time together, but can they handle Brandon’s son and ex finding out? Can Christian’s family handle him dating a guy as old as his dad?
Loved, loved, loved this story, it has sweet moments, fun times, romance, lots of first, health issues and family issues and most of all it has a strong loving relationship!
