Wow! The author did such a spectacular job of transporting me to Victorian London, and I suffered right along with Trinity and Quinn (even the professor who grew on me). Every clack of shoes against cobblestone, the putrid aromas, and who could forget Albert? Absolute genius! (Once you read the book you’ll understand.) The underlying love story made the journey even more special. And the ending? Perfect. I savored every word.
I’ve read several of Jordan Dane’s novels, and she never disappoints. The Curse She Wore may be the best of them all. Gripping, tense, yet heartwarming at times, this thriller will stay with you. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Thanks to the publisher and author for the advanced reader copy.
What do you get when you combine a homeless girl from New Orleans looking to avenge her best friend’s murder, a time-traveling psychic grieving the loss of his family, and Jack the Ripper? Why, you get a Jordan Dane supernatural thriller, of course. The Curse She Wore is a wild, unpredictable ride filled with twists and turns that would make a Disney Imagineer jealous. And it has heart—a lot of heart.
What I love best about this novel is how adept the author is at combining the traditional elements of a serial killer story with those of supernatural tales such as Peter Straub’s terrifying Ghost Story. And trust me, the combination works. If you’re in the mood to be scared, then touched by the tortured yet loyal and loving Trinity LeDoux, I suggest you stop what you’re doing and acquire The Curse She Wore.
Wow!!!! Not normally my thing but as usual, if it is by Jordan Dane, then it is amazing. Past and present combine and had me on the edge until the end.
I received a few copy of this amazing book.
This book is SPECTACULAR! One of the best I have read, by far. Jordan Dane skillfully blends past and present time periods to create this astonishingly unique little gem.
The Curse She Wore is not your average historical or paranormal read. It is a hauntingly beautiful constructed story that will sink deep into your bones and hold you in its grasp. The writing is depicted in a way that draws you in and lets you experience every sound, every smell, and every visual aspect of the story as if you are right there experiencing it with the characters first hand. With the flavor and flair of New Orleans as the backdrop as well as whispers of magic and voodoo you will be whisked away through time and pulled into the past of merry old London to walk the path of an infamous serial killer whose atrocious crimes are revisited as two broken souls search for answers and closure. This book is full of tragedy and loss and yet it is wrapped in hope and love. I think the strong array of emotions is one thing that makes this such a great read.
I was not sure what to expect when first I started the book but I know I got more than I could have hoped for by the time I was done. It held me in constant suspense letting me think I knew what was going on and the direction it was taking yet took me down a totally different path at the end. The added suspense and constant twists were blended perfectly into this wonderful tale. This is a new direction for Dane and one I hope she will continue to explore.
*I received an arc copy from the author and I am providing my honest review. I have also purchased a copy of my own.
Outstanding!! Jordan Dane has outdone herself in this unique paranormal mystery that Stands out from other books in this genre. Trinity LeDoux is obsessed with finding out who murdered the only person she ever cared about. Hayden Quinn is a powerful reclusive clairvoyant who communicates with the dead. Together they are trying to do the impossible task of solving a hundred year old murder case and catch a modern day serial killer. Past and present collide in this suspenseful mystery.New Orleans atmosphere is the backdrop of this story with all its flavor and history. Bringing together several of my favorite elements paranormal, history and a serial killer that was never caught. There is a love connection but this is definitely not a romance at all. I thought I had everything figured out but I was totally wrong. That doesn’t happen often. The only thing I didn’t like was the female lead character constantly thinking she was not worthy because of her childhood. The twist at the end is something I never saw coming. I received this ARC from the author for a honest review. The opinion are my own.
