‘Wild Rose’ continues the story of Pastor Ian MacCraig and the community of St Conan’s in Lochawe, Scotland, that began with Thistle Down.
This is a lighthearted, often humorous and sometimes very poignant story of an unlikely meeting that unleashes an unpredictable series of events full of twists and turns. While it is a romantic story, it’s also a story of human nature in which judgement and forgiveness feature prominently. It challenges the reader to think about their own perceptions of others, especially those who stand out from the crowd in one way or another.
‘Wild Rose’ is a most enjoyable read.
This is my second novel by this author, and I am not disappointed.
This is a very funny, relaxed sweet romance. Poor Rose. She’s a widow who’s finally ready to get back into the dating game. She finds a date online and they meet at the church for a “rendezvous.” It turns out that her date was really a criminal out to rob the church of precious artifacts.
Prior to the date, the pastor, Ian, put up security camera’s the help catch who’s been stealing from them lately. One of them catches Rose and Digby (the criminal) in their explicit act and Rose is afraid that if it gets out, it will ruin her reputation. Pastor Ian, rather than being judgmental and angry with Rose, feel sympathy for her and tries to keep the tape a secret from the media. He knows how gossipy his congregation is, and that Rose is just looking for companionship, not to steal from the church. Rose and Pastor Ian start their own relationship and it’s a fun ride.
I love the sweetness and innocence of Rose. She just wants to be loved and not ostracized by church members. I can’t wait to read the rest in the series.
Beautiful scenery, clever character development, and a well crafted mystery. I really felt for Rose as she succumbed to the charms of Digby, but was uplifted as the relationship between her and Ian developed. This author has a skill of weaving humour into the many layers – which keeps a nice pace and natural feel to it. A wonderful read, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I am blow away yet again from Sherrie Hansen! I absolutely adore everything about this author’s series. Wild Rose is no exception. It is a beautiful and inspirational tale. I couldn’t stop from reading this wonderfully written love story. From the first page to the last, the author had me completely engrossed in her story. I first met Rose when I read Blue Belle. She made a guest appearance in that tale and when I say Wild Rose and how Rose had her own story, I jumped at it. I am glad I did. It exceeded my expectations. When I read about her in Blue Belle, she told a snippet of her story to the main character there, and I was so glad that I could read it fully in Wild Rose. It made me fall in love with the character even more. The author writes her story so beautifully you can just image every vivid descriptive detail that surrounds Rose and Scotland. It has quickly become one of my favorites in the series.
You can’t not like this book. It’s the type of story that can easily become a humorous BBC TV series. The main character Rose is extremely likeable and you really just want to hug her. She finds herself in not so pleasant situations but manages to stand on her own two feet. It’s an incredibly sweet romance story. One that makes you giggle at times and one that makes you wonder what on earth is Rose thinking. I really think it could be a very amusing tv series.
A romance with a mystery element, Wild Rose is set in Scotland is a very descriptive novel which is well written. There is a nod to a Scottish dialect which I found jarring as the characters only seemed to have an accent when pronouncing certain words. If you enjoy books with beautiful descriptive passages and a romance with down to earth characters, you will enjoy this.
