The definition of beauty has confused young girls and women throughout the ages. So much so that it has led to depression, isolation, eating disorders, anger, and self-image obsessions that have prevented people from living their best life and drove others to the verge of suicide. The problem continues today. Have you ever been made to feel like you weren’t good enough? Do you still struggle with … struggle with those feelings today or with depression? If you were asked to describe yourself, what would you say?
The answers to value and self-worth are usually related to the scope of one’s past, be it childhood or adulthood, and unfortunately many girls grow up and women continue along life’s journey with the most pertinent questions about who they really are unanswered, incorrectly answered or ignored. Consequently, they learn to settle for less than they deserve and never expect anything worthwhile to happen for them, while they teach their own daughters to do the same without having to utter a single word. A dangerous concept, isn’t it? So many are scarred emotionally, develop unhealthy habits and unknowingly become their own worst enemy. They feel hopeless that any turn-around is at all possible, using excuses such as: “Nothing good ever happens to me”; “I’m not attractive or talented enough”; “I’m too old”; “I’ve been settling for too long”; “I’m just too afraid”; “I don’t want to take any risks”. Sounds familiar?
I Didn’t Know I Was Beautiful: The Real and Raw Facts That Every Woman on The Planet Should Know boldly addresses the questions that have long been avoided and sets the record straight. Discover what True Beauty is and how you can willingly embrace it; no longer feeling imprisoned by what you see in the mirror or by what others think of you.
An inspiring read for young girls and women of all ages, cultures and creed. It’s now time to face reality, overcome the barriers and claim what is rightfully yours.
You deserve the best and to soar like an eagle for the simple fact that you are woman.
Excerpt from ‘I Didn’t Know I Was Beautiful’:
“I wondered when the time came if I’d miss her.
All she ever did was made me feel ugly, inferior, and worthless. Although I know I’d cry whenever she passed on, I wondered if those tears would be because I’d miss her or because I’d be reliving all the emotional pain she’d inflicted upon me ever since I knew myself. I’m a grown thirty-year-old woman now, but almost daily, hearing her voice and seeing her face is a constant reminder of all she’d put me through when I was an innocent, caring child who only wanted to love her and know that she was safe.”
A powerful read that gets to the core of who you are as a woman and the very power of your presence.

I Didn’t Know I Was Beautiful – a review by Rosemary Kenny
A fantastic, enlightening, uplifting and positive self-help book, that every woman, from 9-99 years of age, should be given to read and learn from; its core message is to embrace, enjoy and experience life, self-esteem and relationships (including, primarily with oneself), to the utmost and to enable each and every one of us to move ahead along Life’s path, in the right direction.
Thank you so very much to Tara Tomlinson and Tanya R.Taylor, (who just happen to be mother and daughter), for this eye-opening missive that I cannot endorse or recommend highly enough.
As I read some of the ‘case studies, and Raw Fact(s) that follow each scenario, I could feel myself ‘tearing up’ and having to wipe my eyes, while simultaneously thinking OMG, change the names and that could be me, in times and situations I’ve been in, or through in my own life – that’s how great this book is – and how perceptively and sensitively-analysed and commented on it is by this amazing new ‘family powerhouse’ of authors!!
Make sure you not only get your own copy as soon as possible, but also tell all your (female) friends to spread this great inspirational message, (maybe even petition to get it stocked in every library?)
Whatever happens, during this stressful time of the Covid-19 pandemic and the massive pressure-cooker atmosphere caused by ‘Lockdown Blues’, you’re sure to find inspiration, motivation, maybe even a little more faith in a happy future, in Tanya R. Taylor and Tara Tomlinson’s I Didn’t Know I Was Beautiful… because you truly are!
I Didn’t Know I Was Beautiful by Tara Tomlinson and Tanya R. Taylor is a must read book for women of all ages. Reading this book will boost self-confidence and help to improve acceptance and self awareness of what is important. You are worth it; I am worthwhile.
This is a well written book with lots of stories and examples of how self worth can be realized just by believing in yourself.
