Well written book that was easy to read and hard to put down.i loved the book.
Unputdownable!
Evelyn Pritchett loved Jonathan Evers,Marquess of Arnesmore and heir to a dukedom, since she was 15 years old. Jonathan Evers, the eldest son of three was devoted to his father, his legacy, and Evelyn his betrothed.
Evelyn was born into nobility and had a life of wealth and privilege. However, fate put a twist into Eveyln’s plan for her future.
Edward Evers is the middle son. He always felt he never got enough attention.
The third son,Andrew Evers was just carefree as a bird.
The complex and flawed characters made me love this story till I turned the very last page.
Fanny Finch’s writing will pull your heart strings in this suspenseful love story with such emotion.
Highly recommend.
Beautiful story of how love transcends death and time. A marquess presumed dead. His love mourns. She is engaged to the brother. Is the marquess really dead? Was the death an accident? Was the destroying of the ship meant to kill another? Mystery afoot. What will happen if the marquess is just missing and returns? What will happen to the estate? Will the marquess be able to reunite with his love, or is she bound to the brother? Can the brothers be reconciled to each other? Can true love overcome all these obstacles? Find out in this enchanting book. I highly recommend this book! Happy Reading!
Another fantastic book from Fanny Finch!
Lady Evelyn Pritchett and Jonathan Evers, the Marquess of Arnesmere, are a true love match. They are happily engaged and plan to get married after Jonathan return from a long sea voyage. Then the unthinkable happens: the ship Jonathan is on sinks and no survivors are found. Jonathan is presumed dead. Evelyn is shattered.
Two years later, Evelyn is still suffering from the loss of Jonathan when her parents (mother!) inform Evelyn that she is now engaged to Jonathan’s brother, Edward, and will marry him very soon. In addition, Edward has inherited all of Jonathan’s wealth as well as his title as Marquess of Arnesmere. Fast forward and Evelyn is in the church getting married to Edward when a miracle happens: Jonathan is alive and has returned home.
All of this happens in the first few chapters so there is no spoiler. The rest of the book deals with the repercussions of Jonathan’s return and the fact that Evelyn is still in love with him and wants to end the engagement to Edward but her “saintly” mother refuses to let that happen. And her dad is totally whipped by his conniving wife so he is useless to help Evelyn.
And then there is the drama of Jonathan and Edward both being in love with Evelyn and Edward still determined to marry her even though he knows she still loves Jonathan. These brothers really need therapy to overcome a lifetime of jealousy and misunderstanding.
Did I mention there is also talk of murder? That is a whole separate yet intertwined plot. This book will not bore you. You need to fasten your seatbelt and take Dramamine because this is one hell of a plot twist. Enjoy the ride.
I received an ARC of this ebook to read and give an honest and voluntary review. I highly recommend this book.
