This action packed story was so well written with characters that were so well developed kept me totally turning the pages until the very end!
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it
This story was one that started a little different than most. It was almost like how movies some times started years ago as a narrative. This story was one that was hard to put down. It flowed beautifully and had me hooked right from the beginning.
Isla Elliott is the adoptive daughter of the chief of the clan, Laird Elliott. Her parents along with the entire Armstrong clan was were killed when she was younger. She grew up hating the English for the death of her birth parents. She is a true daughter of a Scottish Laird. She wants to fight along side her father in battle. She follows her father against his’ order as he and his men go to avenge against the Musgrave’s wrongdoings. The battle was not what she thought it would be. Her father discovers her and orders her to retreat back to the castle. She has to walk back as her horse had thrown a shoe. The next morning, she journeys to the village’s blacksmith on her father’s order to have the horse looked after. There she meets the handsome and shy Fraser. Unbeknownst to either Isla or Fraser, there is a deep dark secret that surrounds Fraser.
The road to the Isla and Fraser’s HEA is one that is filled with strife and discovery. Again, it completely enchanted me and I had to read the entire thing in one sitting. I adored the way Isla was determined to discover why her father hated Fraser so much and defy to his orders to stay away from him. Fraser for his part was a wonderful character. I truly felt for him and his worries.
This is written in my favorite dual POV. Again at first it is written in the narrative for several chapters. It is laying the foundation for the story. Be patient, you will be glad that you did.
This is a wonderful story that should be read by anyone who loves a historical romance. It is one that you will want to read over and over. I highly recommend this story to anyone.
The war between the English and the Scottish was a brutal one and is described well in this book. The fighting, the killing, and the ones that were injured. This book has drama, intrigue, danger, suspense. Also romance and love. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.
Clean Scottish romance with action and several twists and turns.

Isla and Fraser will fight for the right to love one another. It’s a story that brings the devastation of war to reality, drama, suspense, secrets, and twist and turns. Kenna Kendrick has given us a story of love, faith, and to triumph over all! A Must Read!
This book was a disappointment. There is little romance, ‘The female lead was weak and stupid.
I didn’t finish it. Disappointing character development and storyline.
Hard to get into at first but thought it was a good read.
I realize that the author needs to give background information on the characters but I thought that part was a bit long and boring. After the H and h were introduced to each other then the book got better. I did like the ending of this book. All of Kenna’s other highlander books I loved, this one not as much.
I really like the story after the first couple of chapters.
Isla has a mind of her own and Fraser thinks he is content as he is. The author has brought emotions to a wonderful peak and brings you into the story as only an experienced storyteller can do it. it is a can’t miss!
Nothing like a good Highlander romance to read inbetween others. This author will give you just that. This will be the story of Isla and Fraser whom had different paths but then theirs cross. The pull is there but the struggle will happen especially as the chemistry builds. Fraser really was intriguing that is for sure. When things started to be revealed where he is concerned that was the ticket. The adventure is fuel to keep you turning the pages. The danger and drama lends the spice. Quite captivating from beginning to end.
