This RomCom is a silly but very sexy take on baking competitions, billionaire romance, and sugary sweet happy endings. Full of bawdy jokes and brilliant besties baking their way to a happily ever after, each of the Sugar and Spice novellas are meant to be devoured in a couple of hours and–taking place over the same two weeks–they can be read in any order.

Sam Davis gets an invitation to the competition, and for the life of her can’t figure out why. She doesn’t know how or why she got the invitation, but she’s going to work her hardest to make sure she comes out on top.
When the two meet, there’s insta-heat. It comes off in waves and is obvious to even the other contestants.
It’s a cute novella, with good writing, and wonderful characters. It’s just really short for my taste, which is why I gave it 3 stars. I feel that the story could have been longer, there were so many scenes that could’ve been expanded.
** I received a copy from Netgalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
“The Cake King” is a delightful and light contemporary romance that will make you root and swoon for the two characters and will satisfy the HEA cravings of every romantic out there. Such a feel-good romance that had me smiling like silly. Hilarious and steamy, witty and unique. “The Cake Kings is the perfect romantic comedy and one of the best books I’ve read all year. It’s a truly feel-good romance that will make your heart squeeze a million times over. Happy reading everyone!!
The Cake King is a short novella, easy to read perfect if you want to spend some hours relaxing with a nice and delightful story.
Rosie Chase did a good job writing this story about Sam and Michael journey. They are two likeable characters and I wanted the best for them, I cheered for them to reach their happiness throughout the book.
For Sam Davis receiving a letter from Michael Godwin to compete for the job of making his sisters desserts for her wedding is the opportunity of a lifetime! Not only because she’s going to get to see and meet The Cake King himself, but this job could get her name out there and allow her to help out the family that took her in when she was at her lowest.
Sam expected to be baking for her life everyday until a “winner” was chosen. But what Sam didn’t expect was making friends with her fellow competitors as well as catching the eye of The Cake King himself.
In the end Sam will have to decide whether to put her trust in Michael that he’ll be there for her and love her, even though she’s a “nobody”.
This is a really cute novella. I was hooked from the synopsis and was actually excited to read this one! I absolutely love any book with a “baking” theme to it!
This book is a great. The characters are well developed and engaging and storyline flows smoothly from beginning to the end. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

This was a quick sweet story (no pun intended).
Sam Davis is a small town baker from Appalachia. She gets a letter inviting her to compete to make celebrity baker Michael Godwin’s actress sister’s wedding cake. The competition lasts for roughly 2 weeks and pits 9 bakers against each other. Sam has had a crush on Michael for a while. When he seems to be attracted to her she is confused as to why. Michael is a small town boy who was fortunate enough to make a lot of money and travel the world. They work through her confidence issues and her misconceptions of him to eventually get their HEA.

I actually would give this book 4 1/2 stars. Not 5 because it was just too short
I didn’t want this book to end. It grabbed me and I didn’t want to stop reading it.
This is the story of “Pink Hair”, Sam, who has had a really hard life. She has entered into a contest to make the wedding cake for the sister of the “Cake King”, Michael. Why isn’t he making his own sister’s wedding cake? Simple she doesn’t want him to.
Sam is from a small town wher she works at a restaurant called Apple Butter. She’s had a hard life and one that makes it so that letting her self trust that she is worthy of anything is very hard for her. As her relationship with Michael grows without pushing her he earns her trust and this helps her to realize that just because people in the past may not have wanted her doesn’t mean that nobody ever will.
This is a cute, short, story of learning to trust and to love. I really enjoyed it. As I said I didn’t want it to end and I didn’t want to put it down once I started it. The author does a great job grabbing your attention and keeping it throughout the book.
I will definately be recommending this to friends.
