Wonderful yet painful read that takes you on a journey through they life of two young people. One a beautiful, goodhearted, sweet high school senior who has been bullied her entire school life. The other, a handsome, popular, hateful baseball player who lives next door to her and has been the main tormentor in her life. Oh, he has “friends” who are more than happy to help him with his cruel antics, but are these so called friends as loyal to him as they seem? All it takes is one horrible prank, one party aiding in the set-up, one too many drinks and one young lady coming to his aid and keeping him from making a terrible mistake to make the night end terribly wrong. But was the result a curse or a blessing?
These characters are superbly written. The pain and suffering that Piper goes through is tangible as you read about what she has gone through at the hands of the boy next door. Dalton is all charisma and heat until he opens his hateful mouth or does something equally cruel. You instantly hate this boy and just know that he has no redeeming qualities. Even after the accident you can’t help but feel like Piper does, wondering when he will regain his memories, or if he has lost them at all and this is some elaborate prank that he has planned to totally destroy her. Which will definitely happen because this new Dalton has made her fall in love with him.
I think that my favorite part of this book was Dalton’s “in your face” realization of the true pain that he had caused Piper all of these years. When he sees the effect of his tormenting of her, of what she had been doing to get through the pain, it crushes him. Heartbroken and guilty of his sins, he finally sees what he has done and makes a promise to himself that not only guts him, but hurts Piper as well. How can he erase what he as done, how can he think about keeping her when he has caused her such pain that she bares the scars to prove it.
A really wonderful storyline that will have your emotions running hot and cold. I mean, how can you like such a mean guy? I did end up kinda liking Dalton but found that I was like Piper in my cautiousness to believe that he had truly changed, and kept waiting for the real Dalton to come out and play.
An absolute must read and I highly recommend this book.
I enjoyed this book. One Eighty had a strong plot that was filled with so many emotions, the story was written well. Marie James did a great job on it. Dalton and Piper’s relationship wasn’t an easy one at all. Their relationship was an emotional rollercoaster. Dalton was horrible to Piper for no reason, she was a good person, she was a fighter though.
Things started to change though after the accident. Dalton changed, he was a whole new person, a better version and he wanted Piper but Piper had her walls up because all the stuff he put her through.
I’m going to stop there, I don’t want to very much away. The best I could suggest is to read this. It was a great story. I enjoyed it.
Thank you, Marie James. Great work 🙂
I’m not really it to book about high schoolers but this but was amazing. I was hooked within the frist chapter of dalton and piper. From being a bully to a life altering accident dalton had changed in to a different person. Piper has delt with dalton’s bulling for 12 years so now she is torn between the person he is now and the bully she knows…. this book was amazing and I cant eait to read the next one
Just loved this book.. One Eighty has a the feels.
Piper is a girl that just stick to herself for the most part. Ever since she was little her neighbor Dalton would pick on her. As they got older it didn’t change it only got worse. She kept it all to herself.
Dalton is the Captain of Westover Prep’s Baseball team. He is the guy that everyone looks up to. Whatever he does or says they do it and that means going after Piper.
It’s the last day of their junior Year and everyone is invited to a party at Daltons best friends house. Things happened at the party that no one should have to witness. Piper leaves after what she saw and not long after that so did Dalton. He goes to get into his car but Piper stopped him for doing that. She grabs his keys and tells him to get into the passengers seat and buckle up but he doesnt listen. He is yelling at her and calling her names, she isn’t paying attention to the road and almost runs ofc the road the in one swift jerk Dalton grabs the steering wheel and the go flipping into a ravine. Piper is so scared that she killed Dalton. They both are taken to the hospital. Dalton was place in a induced coma because of how bad his head trauma is, Piper got off a little lucky she had a concussion and a hurt arm. Piper is filled with shame and guilt. When she learns that Dalton will be ok she is happy. Dalton comes out of a coma and doesn’t remember who he was. All he knows is that he like Piper and whats to get to know her. Piper doesnt want anything to do with him because after all a leopard can’t change its spots.. But Dalton wears her down and she tries to forget what he done to her before the accident. She realizes that he has and gives him the chance that he’s been wanting since he first laid eyes on her when he seen her walking in the hall of the hospital.. This book is so good I need to check it out..
This story surprised me on many levels. Jumping in, I was expecting a typical high school bully read with the authors unique flair; with some tension, some darkness, and hard fought HEA. What I wasn’t expecting… this amazing, enduring and sweet story!
Dalton is a bully, the worst of the worst and boy did the author do a great job of making me hate him; and I did, quite a bit. I sure didn’t know how she was going to make him redeemable. Piper, well she is a better woman then I am. If I lived through half the things she did… man, she’s amazing.
While I wouldn’t consider this an academy book (as it takes place entirely over summer), I would highly suggest it to readers who enjoy those types of stories because this one is raw and real and heartwarming.
Without giving anything away let me just say, with each page turned my heart was at war, feeling the pain but also wanting the forgiveness. The story ends so sweetly *sigh*. I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
This was a cool twist on a bully romance i LOVED it !! First hes a bully and then he is the hero/perfect mature boy friend . First i want to scream at her to just SHUT UP AND LOVE HIM but then i also feel how she would have all those trust issues when it came to him i could not get enough of how much he wanted to prove himself to her !!
This new series begins with the “relationship” of Piper and Dalton, now high schoolers. He leads the cool kids. She is the brunt of the cool kid’s taunts and pranks. All through school she has endured their obnoxious and cruel actions.
After a particularly cruel action, an accident takes Dalton’s memory. He has to learn to live again. Piper is the girl he wants and will do anything to get her. He doesn’t remember and wants her to react the same.
Is there any way she can forget it all? Besides, she has some secrets of her own. It is a unique situation.
The author has created a world most people can relate to the bullying actions of kids toward other kids. She has introduced other characters that will play a part in the next books.

Oh Marie, Marie, Marie!!!!!!! You are truly one of the best!!!!
This was definitely different from her usual work but I absolutely loved it!!! I loved Dalton and Piper, even tho I wanted to throttle him in the beginning. I was glad that he redeemed himself and I loved him for it. I can not wait to see what Ms. James has in store for us next!!!
This book was a definite departure from what Ms James usually writes. This was a fabulously wonderful book. Couldn’t put it down.
Dalton is a total jerk to Piper, his next door neighbor, that he has known since before kindergarten. He has made it his life’s work to be as mean and hateful as he possibly can. I believe if you don’t like bullies you will probably start out hating him. Piper is very sexy, very smart and she despises Dalton with a passion. Then the worst happens. There is an accident that both Dalton and Piper are involved in. When Dalton wakes up, he can’t remember Piper or much of anything since he was a young boy. Piper doesn’t believe him. She thinks this is another ploy to cause her more heartache and she doesn’t tust him at all. Can Dalton convince Piper that he truthfully doesn’t remember anything. Can he get her to trust again and possibly get her to at least like him. To find out, pick up a copy of this fabulously wonderful book by Marie James, due out on February10, 2020.
LOVE this freaking cover!!!! The emotion, pain, intensely, support and love in this book is real. I had goosebumps reading One Eighty. Marie went with subject’s that others try to avoid but she did it justice. Just when I thought Marie couldn’t out do We Said Forever (still my favorite though), One Eighty is right there along with it. I loved the details throughout the book.
I feel as though Piper and Dalton’s story isn’t over, that this is just the beginning. But I can’t wait to read Frankie and Zeke’s story.
This book is the complete opposite of this authors past books. It was very painful to read at first, but it turned into a really good book.
This story has nothing to do with Cerberus MC, but I loved it.
I was reading the last chapter and realized that at 60+ years old, I was devouring a story about high schoolers. I liked the way Author James included how Dalton and Piper’s story actually started in kindergarten, but she didn’t write it like flashbacks. Some would read Piper’s story and call her weak or timid, but I call her extremely brave and kind.
“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me.” This little childhood rhythm is found to be a lie by this story. Author James used excellent wording to describe and make you visualize the characters that make this a story that will haunt you and also make you smile.
One-Eighty written by Marie James it was an amazing surprise, isn’t what the author normally does and she doesn’t disappoint. Piper and Dalton, is like the story of the lovely good girl and the badass boy in H.S. A must read!! The story line is superb, thrilling and intense with drama, mystery, romance and a great end. No Spoilers! Looking forward to reading Frankie and Zeke’s story!
What can I say about One Eighty?
1. I loved it.
2. I freaking loved it.
And
3…Oh how I loved it.
I don’t like spoiler reviews so this is all I’m gonna say….
Piper and Dalton are neighbors and have known each other forever, but being neighbours doesn’t always mean being friends, or even being friendly.
Daltons life mission has always been to make Pipers life a living hell, until one day it isn’t.
Is it possible to forgive and forget?
Is one possible without the other?
I guess you’ll have to read it to find out.
The bully and the beauty that’s Dalton and Piper and this is their story, although Dalton the bully is a beautiful specimen himself he has bite of nastiness to him and he’s surrounded by those just like him, equally as beautiful, even more nasty and intent on making Piper’s life miserable with their relentless teasing.
One night a party filled with alcohol and teasing results in things taking a turn for the worse and it changes things for Dalton and Piper, but is it too late for Dalton to make amends for all the years of torment he’s thrown at Piper? And what happens if and when the the truth comes out about Piper and the part she played in the events which unfolded the night things changed for them both?
I absolutely loved this one, yes it’s different from Marie’s other stuff but it’s just as amazing, is there no genre this woman can’t write? Get this book downloaded and immerse yourself in the world off Westover Prep.
.
Ok for starters I seriously wanted to punch Dalton in his smug face. The way he treated Piper was horrible. Poor Piper was bullied not only by Dalton but all his minions and one night things got very bad. But that ended up being a good thing and it brought the two together. There was a bit of mystery with the book and I couldn’t wait to get the answers. I loved the end and in the end Dalton redeemed himself for me. Loved the two characters together and look forward to Frankie and Zeke’s book!! This is definitely different from Marie James books but you will not be disappointed with this book!!
Arc generously provided by author for an honest review.
What an emotional book. From hate to love. My heart broke for Piper and all the torment she went through. Dalton is a characters you find yourself hating at first. But by middle of the book you’re rooting for him. I can’t wait to read more.
All I can say is WOW! I wasn’t prepared for how much I’d dislike Dalton at the beginning….or how much I would love him by the end. I could honestly relate to the mistrust and skepticism that Piper would go through during their story.
“Kissing him is wrong and magical. It’s forbidden and everything I didn’t know I wanted. It’s cruel and perfect.”
I loved it from start to finish and can’t wait for the next book. Zeke and Frankie are already intriguing.
Holy hell this book is 5 amazing stars that I read into the wee morning hours! This type of story is not usually in my wheelhouse but I’m so glad I read it because it’s intriguing and I could not put it down. Dalton and Piper will make you crazy in the best good and bad ways. I actually wanted to do bodily harm to Dalton at more than one point in this book along with his bully tribe and then Marie had the nerve to actually make me develop a crush on him. I mean like I could kiss him and be his forever kind of crush, which is so wrong because I’m old enough to be his mom! A young mom, but a mom nevertheless. But that’s what Marie James does…she weaves these tales that make me fall for guys I would not give a second chance to in real life. You need to read this book to find out about the nickname, the grilled cheese sandwiches, and the parties alone. Marie James this is such a relevant story that had my heart doing a complete One-Eighty and it must be consumed by everyone because it’s everything and more!!!
