A Misdiagnosis Leads to Love Lessons and Discovery of True Love Mobile, Alabama and various Caribbean islands Twenty-seven-year-old children’s librarian, Whitney Smith, has six-months to live–or so she thinks. Shunning treatment, she chooses to live out her bucket-list in the time she has left. Topping her list is losing her embarrassing virginity to a fabulous lover with whom she can have a … lover with whom she can have a mad, passionate (albeit temporary) affair on an exotic Caribbean island.
Dr. Eric Townsend, a renowned and brilliant volcanologist with a taste for danger, is entranced with the self-assured and sensual Whitney, so much so that he’s fallen deeply in love and wants a permanent relationship.
Whitney returns to Mobile, feeling ill and preparing to die only to discover her disease is treatable, and her most recent illness is a temporary condition called pregnancy. Broke, jobless and having presented herself as a fraud to the man who loves her, Whitney reaches out to Eric to see if he can love the “real” her in the hope of a genuine and lasting happy-ever-after. But love has many lessons.
Publisher’s Note: This story is a re-write of a story titled Love Play, set in the 1990s. Refreshingly free of modern technology, the story concludes in the present with some delightful surprises and a connection to Love Trade, book one in this series.

Whitney Smith lives in Mobile Alabama and works at her local library as the children’s librarian. She led a pretty simple life until she got a test result back that she had cancer and had 6 months to live. This normally careful lady decided she might as well enjoy life to the fullest while she can because she had missed out on so many things so far. Dr. Eric Townsend does work with volcanos. Sometimes he does easy stuff and sometimes dangerous stuff, like going pretty much into the crater of a volcano. Whitney and Eric met on a plane. Both were taken with each other right off the bat. Eric was looking at his text book and eventually gives it to Whitney. Adventures start with them trying to find each other after they get off the plane. Honestly after this the book is just one adventure after another with several wrenches thrown into the plot. I feel if I write anymore it will give up the story and it is better to read it for yourself.
There were a couple times in the story I did wish that the characters had been more stable but I guess if I was in that situation I would not know if I would be sane myself. Whitney’s character is actually relatable to; she is the girl next door. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Good Quick read.

Having received news that was the death knell to all her hopes and dreams, Whitney does a quick reevaluation of her life and burning her bridges, she takes off for parts unknown. She quickly realises just how liberating it is to live for the moment, to savour the instant and become a person without a past or a future. She unexpectedly finds a companion for her journey seated next to her on the aircraft she takes, and the attraction is instant and electrifying. Eric is no less struck by the lightening effect of the connection with Whitney and even though they are destined for different parts of the islands, he finds his way back to her. Their love explodes in bright glorious colours and before long Whitney finds herself not only married to Eric but living out new and exciting adventures with him. That is until reality intrudes and the thing that she fears most rears its ugly head. Not wanting to burden Eric with the truth about misleading him and her death sentence, she returns to her roots. It is the first time I have read a book by this author and I found this novel to be very well written, intensely romantic with life lessons that we could all learn from. I loved Eric’s approach to life in general as well as his willingness to go the extra mile for Whitney when he begins to get an inkling of the problems she is facing. Whilst Whitney may appear to have taken Eric for a ride, she, in fact, is facing issues that none of us would like to deal with. This is a romance that involves far more than an ordinary love story but is a book about the true value of family love. It is a standalone and comes to a happy and joyful conclusion.
