Ansel has a thing for older men.Specifically his friend’s father Daniel, a penguin shifter who is surprisingly innocent for a forty-seven-year-old man. Ansel probably shouldn’t flirt with Daniel. Or go on a date with him. Or send him photos that Daniel claims are “irresponsible.” But Daniel’s so cute when he blushes, and it’s just a bit of fun. Ansel’s learned that men only want one thing from … thing from him, and then they’re gone.
But Daniel doesn’t leave.
In fact, Daniel wants nothing more than to love and take care of Ansel. But Daniel is an omega, just like Ansel, and in polar bear shifter culture a “blood-bond” can only exist between two people who have a child that is genetically related to both of them. If he asks Ansel to be his mate, will he be able to make Ansel happy? Or will he be just one more guy who asks Ansel to settle for less than what he truly wants?
An Egg for Ansel is a second-chance age gap romance with plenty of lace, cuddling, and MPreg of the penguin egg variety. It’s the second book in the Alaskan Pebble Gifters series, and will only make sense if you’ve read the first book.

In ‘An Egg for Ansel, Alaskan Pebble Gifters series Book 2’, Lewis’s omega penguin shifter father (Daniel) and Todd’s omega polar bear shifter friend (Ansel) find each other much to their ultimate delight! Yes, Daniel is twice Ansel’s age and Ansel is so flashy and worldly, but never had two shifters needed each other so much! Ansel had resigned himself to being partnerless and saves for sperm donors so that he could have a young one all his own. The opportunity he has to help warm Lewis and Todd’s eggs is too good to pass up, especially when it comes to a relationship with Daniel! Because both men are omegas, a blood bond would have to be completed with the sperm of an alpha related to Daniel. Because Daniel returned his neck price, this does not become an option. But merfolk magic saves the day for them through Todd’s professional connections.
This book contains some of the most touching scenes I’ve ever heard/read yet including some scorching hot sexual intimacies between truly loving and lovable players! The world-building is incredible in addition to the wonderful character development that extends far beyond what one would expect from those entering a new relationship. The story flows well as the writer is meticulous with the pacing of events and balance of challenges with resolutions in the narrative. It is my sincerest hope that Amy Bellows has more for readers of this totally sweet series.
An Egg for Ansel explores more the Alaskan Pebble Gifters world while also continuing the love story that was hinted in a Pebble for Lewis. Ansel is a polar bear shifter looking for love in all the wrong places. When he meets Daniel everything just…fits. Although not everyone is as supportive. This book has some drama and angst, but it is mainly dominated by fluff, romance, and a sweet nesting scene.
An Egg for Ansel – Ansel and Daniel – I love the way that magic and love intertwined in this story. These two just seem to be so well suited to meeting each others needs. I love what builds between them.
Yes, this is an age gap, second chance story but it really is centered on what makes a family. Ansel doesn’t fit into the norm of his culture any better than Daniel does. They both strive for something outside of what is expected. It was nice to see both of them working to understand the other person’s culture and happily incorporated it into their lives. I liked that even though it was brought to light unexpectedly those most important to them gave unwavering support. The lengths that Daniel and Todd go to so Ansel can have his heart’s greatest desire were cheer worthy. The final chapter is so heartwarming I couldn’t help but smile at the picture they all made.
Audiobook: Drew does some terrific voices and Ansel’s is so OTT that it made me giggle at times
Amazing! Extremely heart-warming. Superb world-building Fabulous characters, and there’s much more than just the main characters (MC1 and MC2) elaborated upon. And I get a ton of warm fuzzies as well as prickling newbie-jeebies because I can see this world existing in Anchorage, Alaska! All the way down to the jewelry district and the artsy-fartsy areas (polar bear shifter zone) and the uptight penguin shifter regions. I even have a very good idea where Emperor Produce is! What can I say?
Amy Bellows certainly takes the mpreg concept and mixes it with polar bear/penguin shifters, resulting in one of the most unique shifter universes I’ve ever read. And its biology is obviously thought through quite carefully. I’m quite impressed with the incredible detail work Ms. Bellows has done. I’m also very excited to see how subsequent books will turn out because even though many questions have been answered, more questions are now popping up. Like what is the merman connection? Warlock magic? Metal magic? Why are the penguin shifters trying to take over Anchorage? The more you read, the more your brain starting thinking deep thoughts.
I HIGHLY recommend this book. I urge you to buy the entire series as well as two spin-offs. You won’t be disappointed.
An Egg for Ansel by Amy Bellows is the second book in the Alaskan Pennle Gifters series. It is a second chance age gap romance with an more, light daddy kink and so much snark. I absolutely adore Ansel and Daniel and their story made me so happy.
An Egg for Ansel will make you laugh, cry, say awww over and over … it truly is a beautiful romance story. Ansel and Daniel are so perfect for each other, their relationship so organic. There is no unnecessary drama or tension; just two men working through their feelings and finding themselves. And the world building is so much fun! Who doesn’t love penguins and polar bears?
I definitely recommend reading this series in order for the most enjoyable reading experience. And then pine for the next book with the rest of us!
I love Amy’s writing more and more with each new book. There’s such a genuine, romantic quality to her words. Both her writing and stories are refreshing, especially in a genre that can sometimes feel repetitive and overdone.
I’m looking forward to more from her and more in this sweet series!
An Egg for Ansel is the second book in the Alaskan Pebble Shifters series by author Amy Bellows. This series has to be read in order. There are things you won’t get if you do not. However, I loved both books so I highly recommend this series.
Ansel is a strong character. He has had a mate who left and never came back. This meant he had to break his mate bond and raise his son by himself. He was strong enough to do that. Ansel is an omega so that took even more bravery. He thinks he is too old now for a mate, especially for the kind of mate he needs. He needs a Daddy.
Daniel might be young enough to be Ansel’s son, but he is an Alpha on a mission. He is a Daddy Dom and Ansel is the little he has always been looking for. Daniel is a polar bear shifter and generally they don’t mix with penguin shifters but for Ansel Daniel will.
I loved these two together. There is love, sweet angst, and tons of glitter involved with their love tale. I loved this sweet amazing story. I cannot wait for the next story in this series to come out and who falls in love next.
Five Shooting Stars
This author has a way of writing where I’m always totally in from the very first line.
It started quite frivolous at Lewis and Todd’s home. Ansel, only good for a quickie and never be kept for the long term, hitting on Lewis’ father Daniel. Ansel is sparkling young and beautiful. When we get a first look at his thoughts, omg my heart crashed.
Daniel is left by his alpha and never expects to find love again. When he connects with Ansel it has to be kept secret because he wants to inform Lewis first.
Daniel and Ansel are something special. Ansel yearns to be a father and loves to have a Daddy. Daniel can’t give him what he deserves.
Then the magic steps in !!
I love all the rituals, the attributes needed for certain actions and when the magic comes in I was so thrilled. I love all the beautiful creatures shaped here.
It was all quite original. All the different families become one.
An awesome, sparkling captivatingly written story, the scenery was more than excellent.
I adore these different shifters immensely!
I absolutely love this series. This is book two but can be read as a stand-alone. I wouldn’t due to overlapping characters but you can.
Ansel is caught in a storm of his parents making. Both his omega and alpha parents are fashion designers and both have split Ansel’s world in two. Due to this the only thing any man, alpha or omega wants from Ansel is leverage and access to his parents.
Daniel is older than Ansel and his grown son is Ansel’s best friend. He severed ties with his alpha years ago and focused on making a life for his family. He runs a successful grocery store.
Somehow the attraction between these two is undeniable and seems impossible. They have so many issues that they may very well stand in their own way. Grab this one now and follow their journey. You might just read something you didn’t expect.
You’re attracted to your son’s best friend. Ok… uh, and you’re a penguin & he’s a polar bear.
Amy has done it again! I love this book! Our friends from A Pebble For Lewis are here. They drew me back into their world from page one. I feel I know then so well. I stayed up way too late reading. Such diverse elements at play, all tying together into a dynamic whole. You will absolutely love this book.
Ansel wants what his best friend Lewis has: a mate and a family. But most people see him as all flashy fashion, have fun, no commitments. His mother’s are on opposite sides of the political spectrum that pits localists vs globalists; so no polar bear wants to date him. Lewis is a penguin mated to a polar bear. Can Ansel do the cross species thing too? Took bad the man he wants is Lewis’s father. Too bad they’re both omegas. Daniel thinks love has passed him by, until Ansel barges into his life. How do you tell your son you are falling for his best friend? How do two omegas start a family? You will be enchanted as you follow Daniel & Ansel on their journey to HEA. Did I mention touching pebble gifting?
This story has understanding friends, frustrating family, interspecies love, strength, courage, sexy humor, bunches of pillows, a little daddy kink and a bit of magic. Oh, did I mention eggs, and babies! Ooh, I forgot the glitter… lots of glitter. You will love this book! Get. It. Now!
Possible trigger: this book refers to past miscarriages. It is done in the most respectful manner. I did not think you will be offended. I wasn’t.
Please read A Pebble For Lewis first. It will make this book much easier to understand, and a lot more fun. Besides, it’s a great book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
I am not sure who was scandalized more, Daniel or me. Ansel is an original. He seems like a player and a bit irresponsible, but he is one smart bear. He navigates polar bear society and expectations brilliantly. Not that it is easy at all. When he meets Daniel he decides that yup, he is next. I was hoping they would get together and boy did they ever.
Sexting and lingerie and business and grand babies and secrets! Daniel’s story is sad, but also a testament of his strength. There is a special scene that I will not go into detail about because spoiler alert! But really, the nesting/birthing parts of the story are amazing. Loved it!
I have waited (im)patiently for Daniel and Ansel’s story, and Amy didn’t let me down with this book. This book is beautifully written, and the characters are so full of life. Ansel’s insecurities are vivid and palpable. As for Daniel his heartache and fears are tangible. The nesting scene gave me goosebumps. I devoured this book and just loved catching up with Todd and Lewis too. Seeing the familiar characters and just the acceptance that love is love was wonderful.
I really loved and thought this book was wonderful, glittery fun and steamy. As we follow Daniel get a second chance with a new mate. Ansel has baggage and self esteem issues to deal with. I also enjoyed learning more about the customs of both polar bears and penguins. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
