Even magic has it’s consequences.Cinder and Fury was held captive at the Academy unaware of what was going on outside of the hidden volcano. When the Seer used her magic to cause harm, it was enough for an unexpected person to show up and help them escape.Little did they know the kingdom of Pyr was not only suffering crippling consequences, but that an ancient evil may be on the rise.
Kingdom of Ruins by Jen L. Grey is book three in her part of the shared world of the Stones of Amaria. This book continues Cinder’s and Fury’s story as they work to re-unite their kingdoms, but discover and fight against the danger that lurks around them and seeks to destroy them all.
Kingdom of Ruins picks up after a bit of time has passed from the previous book. The previous book left me on a huge cliffhanger and wanting to know what was going to happen next. When I began this book I was a bit confused at first as to what was going on, but I managed to gather things together and get into the book. The Seer is pushing Cinder and Fury harder and it is pushing them to the brink, but there is more going on that meets the eye. The tables begin to turn, and soon a piece of the truth will be revealed.
I was really hoping to see more development and solidification of the romance between Cinder and Fury, but that really doesn’t happen in this book. The two characters talk and at times act like they are in love, but I don’t really see it as, for me, things moved a bit too quickly for it to really be established in my opinion. The storyline itself moves along pretty well, but I did feel a bit annoyed when the characters became wishy-washy and started contradicting themselves. One minute they are on board with one course of action, and then they are changing their mind in the literal next minute. I wanted them to decide on things and stick with it.
I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. This book has some good moments, but a lot of questions get raised and leaves me eager to discover what happens next. Be prepared for a cliffhanger, and I hope that we get the answers we’re looking for in the next book.
The plot thickens and more is revealed. I am enjoying this series and its take on phoenixes which are underrepresented in fantasy. The secondary characters are given more depth and developments but I’m still not entirely connecting with the main romantic relationship. More motives and pieces of the puzzle are revealed and with the setting change, I’m left excited and wondering what finale is in store!
This is the type of series you read in one sitting at most! Just enough to get you sucked in and wanting more. Things are literally on fire . There were alot of answers to questions i had so im glad i got that! But it left on a huge cliffhanger . Think Jean Grey and her phoenix fighting for control. The big Seer behind it all.. i think . Alot of twist and turns! Who will win!? ahhhhh!! I need the next book asap! Enemies to lovers: romeo & juliet! I hope Cinder and Fury find their happy ending before its too late!
Kingdom of Ruins was amazing book.
With Cinder and Fury now bonded as mates there is nothing they cant do except escape the seers clutches.with new allies and a friend from the past they now have to figure out how to help their kingdoms and try and unite them once more before the evil takes over everything they love and swore to protect. Cant wait for the next book
Things are getting complicated. Nothing is as it seems. Should the trust The Seer or does she have a ulterior motive?
Some the kingdoms past is revealed, and it’s far from what Fury and Cinder have learned growing up.
There is pure evil lurking about and boy does Jen L. Grey leave us hanging from a tall cliff lol
In this book we find Cinder and Fury and all the rest trying to figure out who can be trusted and who can’t there is a fine line that have to trust someone. With a threat from every angle and things not adding up will they figure out what they need to or will it be too late? A another amazing read full of emotions, twist and turns, and hidden truth and some lies and somethings you may not understand. Can’t wait for the next one to see what happens
I am loving this series. While I am not a huge fan of shorter reads- this is the perfect size to run away and just have a some me time!
The twists and turns keep coming in book 3. If you haven’t read the others I urge you to do so first before diving into this one. I cannot wait to see whats coming for these characters, and hopefully a few answers will be revealed.
