Passionate and intense. I couldn’t put this book down.
Charlotte never mixed business with pleasure until she met Brando, an Italian millionaire with the reputation of a playboy. All she wanted was one night with him and then she would leave Italy and head back to the US where she lived. It was New Year’s Eve after all. Time to let loose a bit. What Charlotte never expected was to become pregnant from their brief encounter. When Charlotte tells Brando he is going to be a father, she never expected the response she got from him. Brando wanted to get married and raise the baby together. Could a marriage even work with two strong-willed people who already had their life plans rolling in motion?
This book swept me away. It was what I have come to expect from a Jane Porter Harlequin romance. An exotic location and strong characters who knew what they wanted, but got thrown a curve ball. It was fun to watch each scene play out while I was waiting to see how they would get their happily ever after. There was a lot of push and pull between the characters and a roller coaster ride of emotions for me as I read the book. In the end, I hated to say goodbye to Charlotte and Brando. I became emotionally attached to them. Once they gave into each other, they were the perfect couple.
Jane Porter’s latest Harlequin Presents, THE PRICE OF A DANGEROUS PASSION, features an unexpected pregnancy and a marriage of convenience. Public Relations consultant Charlotte Parks broke her number one rule and spent the night with former client Brando Ricci. She returns home to Los Angeles, resolved to never see him again. The night had consequences, and, despite her plans to raise the baby on her own, she finally returns to Italy to share the news, expecting playboy Brando to be relieved that she is absolving him of any responsibility. That doesn’t go as planned, which results in a headstrong heroine and a hero with his own ideas of where their child should live.
This was a quick read and I flew through it. Both characters had to work on maturing and learning to trust the other. Brando had to really learn to listen, instead of moving full-speed ahead. The characters were flawed, but I enjoyed watching them arrive at the HEA, and the Epilogue was the perfect wrap up for these two.
A marriage of convenience. Charlotte has a rule, never mix pleasure with business until she meets Brando. One night of passion will change their lives forever. Charlotte shows up in Tuscany, on Brando’s porch six months later with a big surprise. Brando is a player but wants to do what is right and expected of him, he wants to marry Charlotte and raise their baby together. Charlotte wants to marry for love.
Loved these characters, both so stubborn in what they want but learn that they can work together. Great dialogue. I highly recommend this book.
Oh what a wonderful escape letting the pages take you to Tuscany.
Holding a Jane Porter romance novel is like holding your ticket out of town for a vacation from your everyday life.
And this is a romance with sizzle, what was meant to be a night of pure passion indulgence has a little consequence that changes both Brando and Charlotte’s lives forever.
Loved the whole book but the awesome epilogue just made me sigh in book contentment.
A night of passion leads to a link which ties them together for life.
Charlotte, the rule follower, breaks her own business principles with former client Brando. One night of bliss results in a pregnancy. When she tells him, the last thing she expects is for him to want to control the rest of the pregnancy, which doesn’t fit her plan for her future with the baby.
As they spend time together, Charlotte must learn to let go of her rigid rules, and Brando must learn he can’t dictate everything Charlotte does. Together, they must decide what kind of future they will have together as a makeshift family.
Charlotte won’t marry without love, and Brando doesn’t give into emotions. Will marriage help them find a way to compromise with a baby on the way or is it too late… for love and family?
Brando Ricci is a powerful tycoon living in Italy. Charlotte Parks is a PR executive from LA. The Ricci family happens to be one of her clients. Her one role, do not mix business with pleasure. Brando is hard to resist and she fails resisting him one evening. Unfortunately, that one evening leads to her knocking on his door six months later with baby news. His solution, they marry and pronto! Charlotte is not onboard with this idea; when she marries, it should be because she is in love and not out of a sort of duty. Unless Brando breaks his number one rule; keeping his heart off limits.
Loved this story! A romantic page-turner; the characters have chemistry making it a sexy read. I thought the topic created a great storyline I was brought to tears on more than one occasion. Highly recommend.
Charlotte and Brando’ s marriage of convenience in The Price of Dangerous Passion by Jane Porter is a tale filled with passion, drama, and stubbornness. PR executive Charlotte Parks had a rule about mixing business with pleasure which she broke when she with a former client, Brando Ricci. Six months later she finally visits Florence, Italy to inform Brando she was carrying the consequences of that night. Tycoon Brando cannot imagine raising his child anywhere but in Tuscany, surrounded by family. He informs Charlotte that the only solution is that they must marry, and quickly. Charlotte is just as demanding, inflexible and stubborn; refusing to partake in a marriage of duty. Now it is up to Brando to convince her to do the right thing; while trying to keep their hearts off limits.
I struggled with Charlotte; her rigidness, her attitude, and her feelings for Brando. In addition she appeared unfeeling and cold which was probably a result of her crazy upbringing. Brando was a playboy, as well as macho, high-handed, controlling and as alpha as they come.
Ms Porter wrote a wonderful, passionate and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with off the charts chemistry, intense emotions, and charming secondary characters giving Charlotte and Brando a chance for having a loving family. I highly recommend The Price of Dangerous Passion to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
