This is the 2nd book I read by Cathy Gillen Thacker. I wanted to read this story because I loved the cover. I felt sorry for Susannah. I’m sorry besides that this story didn’t grab my interest.
His Plan for the Quintuplets begins the Lockharts Lost & Found series with a delightful tale of two very stubborn people who will do what they believe is the right thing for their own reasons – which will not only send them in opposite directions but change lives further on down the road.
The deaths of Susannah’s twin sister, Belinda, and her husband Brett, who was Gabe’s best friend, have put this couple at odds at a time when they should be drawn together. Gabe is very verbal and adamant about his opinion of Susannah going ahead with IVF using her sister’s frozen embryos to have the children Susannah wants and to honor her sister’s and brother-in-law’s dream of a family. Gabe is just as adamantly opposed to the idea, but then he’s going off on another mission for Physicians Without Borders.
Almost five years later Gabe returns, because of an enforced leave of absence, to discover a very different Susannah… and her five children. Things are about to get interesting, to say the least.
I was easily caught up in Gabe and Susannah’s unique situation. Talk about two stubborn people who really need to chill a bit and try to see another point of view, both are adamant that their opinion is the only right one… and they’d be wrong on that assumption. Yet, I understood where each was coming from, their reasons for their opinions, and that alone made their often uncomfortable banter and conversations believable not simply reactionary. In some ways, I want to call His Plan for the Quintuplets a slow burn for this couple really needs to understand each other, admit that there is a definite spark between them and that there are always two sides to any situation. If I also wanted to sit these two down for a stern conversation… well, that’s between me and the characters, right? Overall, I had fun with this opening title in the Lockharts Lost & Found series. I’m doing a bit of catching up with this series, but a binge-reading weekend should get me up to speed on this series.
I own a Kindle edition of this title.
This is my first read from author Cathy Gillan Thacker and it will not be my last. It is an easy read and it has just enough romance in it without being a book that will make you blush. I’m glad to have started with Book 1 in the Lockharts Lost and Found series. “His Plan for the Quintuplets” starts off with Gabe Lockhart looking out for his best friend’s sister when they went away on a second honeymoon. What they didn’t expect was to die tragically leaving their IVF embryos behind. Susannah decides to carry her sister and brother in laws’ IVF eggs and bring them into the world. Gabe wants her to think long and hard about it. It doesn’t help that Susannah has always had a crush on Gabe. He leaves Texas to work with his Doctors without Borders, and she does the procedure. When he returns a few years later he finds out she has had quintuplets and is raising them as a single mother with the help of the town.
