Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander is an erotic tale where the female lead is sexual liberal and polyamorous and our unsuspecting military man is younger and conservative. It is an unlikely pairing but somehow it works and he is introduced to a lifestyle he never knew existed. Sarah knows what she wants but the traditionalist catholic boy James wants his cake and eat it too. Sometimes I wanted to sit Sarah down and give her a good talking to and hug James due to his confusion and uncertainty and I absolutely cracked up laughing at Sarah’s best friend and her antics.
It is a very emotive story and touches on subjects that others may find taboo but Phoebe is as always very respectful in the genre that she writes.
One of the many things I love about this story is how Sarah and James were relatable. They could be your neighbors. Actually I wish they were my neighbors. Dr. Sarah is doctor of Sociology and a single mother of two. She is open minded and poly regarding sex and is not looking for a relationship. James a First Sargent in the ARMY has very traditional views regarding relationships. You would think these two would not work but they do! Beautifully!
I loved how these two navigated their relationship. It read as an honest telling of how a new couple finds their footing together. Yes there are bumps in the road and mis-communications as well as disagreements but when you boil it down they are both just fighting for love.
For me this was the first time I read a book that involved polyamory and I am hooked! I love when books not only entertain me but educate me a little. The writing and story flowed naturally.
I adore how Sarah is open and honest with her sexuality. It was a nice spin that the male character James was more reserved and traditional in his views….however once they hit the sheets he was not reserved anymore. The chemistry was off the charts. Sarah and James balances each other out.
I found the book hard to put down and was quickly one-clicking for the rest of series.
This is an author I never hesitate to pick up as her books are that good. Her writing skills and ability to pull me into her stories keep me turning pages. This book is no different. It is a creative, well written story that is engaging with characters that pop off the pages. Sarah and James are two people who don’t want a relationship which makes them perfect for each other. What happens when it turns into more than just benefits? Now they are faced with chosing which side of the mountain to climb – passion or heartbreak. I highly recommend reading their story to find out what happens with them, which side will they choose.
A great story. I loved the characters, especially Sarah. I felt everything she was feeling, and felt I was involved in the story. Can’t wait to read the next book
This book made me laugh, want to cry, I did tear up a few times, and broke my heart. But I loved every minute of it! It was hard to put down once I started. I NEED the conclusion of Sarah and James so my heart can mend. I know this isn’t a brand new book by Phoebe, but it’s new to me, and I love each of her books a little more than the previous ones I’ve read!
