Devin is burnt out and secretly happy that she lost a job that she hated. Coming from a family of high achievers she followed their path, but for her a high social/business position is not the most important. To figure out what that might be, she removes herself from the busy city and moves to small town Glendale. There she rents a holiday home for a whole year to give herself time to re-group and find herself. She becomes friends with her landlord, Cailean, and little by little she realisses where she belongs, despite her mother nagging her to return to her former life.
An intriguing stroy with a lot of human touch, more than just a romantic story, as a woman realises that she does not like the life her mother and sister lead, and finally breaks free to be herself.
Engaging and entertaining.

NEW YORK CITY, girl Devin meets small town, Glendale, Connecticut artist/ furniture extraordinaire, Cailean Pond. Devin is moving to Glendale for a year to heal her broken heart and the loss of her job inspite of her mother’s and sister’s disapproval. Not only do they disapprove of her move, but also her choice of Cailean hoping that she will return to NYC. Devin adjusts to her move with help from Cailean and his sister who introduce her to the close knit community, she makes friends and finds employment with Cailean as feelings become stronger for him. Their friendship begins quite organically amidst the friendships of her girlfriends. The real rapport with Cailean is quite illuminating as she navigates the new changes in home, job, people and new decisions she takes in life.

Devin Wilson and Cailean Pond meet when she comes to Glendale after things happened in her life she had to get away from. Their story will take us from January to December as they fall in love and have to overcome somethings, her Mother being one of them. I enjoyed seeing this story come together.
What a great, refreshing read. A sister that can’t seem to stop interfering, a handsome landlord and a story line that’s captivating and enjoyable. The story is well written, has great humor throughout that will give you some laugh out loud moments and entertaining. The characters are fun, easy to get to know and likable. A new author for me and I will definitely be looking for more work from her.

The main characters in this story are Devin Wilson and Cailean Pond. Devin has just moved to the small town of Glendale after feeling that her life had fallen apart and she needed some time to herself to figure out what she wanted to do and what would make her happy. She lost her high pressure job in the city, broke up with her fiancé and realised she hadn’t been happy for quite some time! She is moving into a rented house, helped by her sister Yvonne, when her landlord arrives to walk her through the property and with a gift basket in his hands, as suggested by his sister Eden.
He is instantly attracted to Devin’s smile and her figure, but knows she is only renting and likely to go back to the big city, as soon as she gets bored. After his last relationship broke up with his partner not happy to settle down in Glendale, he doesn’t want to damage his heart again, with anyone that will leave him again. Cailean has a lot of family in the town and it is a place where everybody knows each other. He has his own successful business making bespoke furniture pieces.
Devin and Cailean begin to get to know each other and seem to be getting closer all the time, but both are reluctant to take the next step, when everyone else around them can see where their relationship is going. That is, apart from her own mother, who is not happy with her lack of ambition and choice of place to live, whether temporary or more permanent. A great read, easy and light hearted, with two nice characters in the middle of the plot, seeing if either of them can change their lives and risk their hearts again. This is a sweet and clean story that will have you turning the pages and wanting more. This is a story filled with emotion and humor that will leave you with a smile on your face. Devin is a young woman who is trying to figure out her future and where she wants it to take her. Will Cailean be the one to accompany her on that journey? A charming and beautiful read that I simply adored. The only flaw in this book was that it was too short. I would have loved for this to be a full length novel!

The storyline is set in a small town. Delvin is out of work and decides to move and finds everything that she was looking for plus a strong partner to love and cherish. The characters are well developed and engaging with plenty of chemistry.

Great Characters Should Have Had a Longer Book!
I have read a few other books by this author, and unfortunately, I have found them to be of variable quality. I wasn’t quite sure what I would think of this one, but I am a sucker for Christmas romance, even in February, so I thought I would give it a try. I am pleased that I did. This is a very quick-read novella, and I so enjoyed the main characters and their siblings. So much so that I wish this were a proper novel to fully explore how their relationship evolved. The author has chosen a unique format for this. She has broken down the story into months, January through December (though the December is a year after the previous November). For each month, we get a pivotal scene or two of what happens between the couple and with their families. The hero and the heroine are excellent characters. Even in this short read, you could get a sense of both of them as complex individuals with somewhat troubled pasts but still hopeful for their futures. They each have an older sister who is fiercely protective of them, though in slightly different ways. The sisters were also really good characters. The villain of the piece, if you could call her such, is the heroine’s mother. She has a certain design for the heroine’s life that she would like her to live, whether or not her daughter is happy. This is such a great group of characters that I really would have loved to have seen this teased out into a longer novel. There is no greater compliment that I could give a novella. I wanted to spend more time with the couple and see just more than a few scenes here and there of their evolving relationship. There were definitely some issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage, like not capitalizing the beginning of dialogue in the middle of a paragraph and some pretty severe run-on sentences. All in all, though, I still found this to be a fun and warm romantic holiday read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This was a quick romance second chance read, the characters are good and so is the storyline. They have great chemistry together.

Layout: Unique Diarized Fashion.
A unique romantic tale. This original story was quite charming but the read itself was not as easy as it should have been (more editorial work would have made for easier reading). The characterizations were all clear and the two main male and female character’s matured over the course of the story. This was a lovely romance and was laid out in a unique diarized fashion; cool. The setting was delightful; a quaint small town with close ties between community members. What unfolded was not only a lovely romance between two people but a community that offered warm, supportive welcomes to newcomers.
