Lady Beatrice Thornton is surrounded by gossip. Her drunken father has made it known that there is some question over the legitimacy of her birth and now she can barely lift her head in society. Desperate for aid, she is more than grateful for the assistance of Lady Smithton, who promises that she will help her find a husband.Whilst seeking solace in a bookshop one afternoon, Beatrice is … afternoon, Beatrice is astonished to discover a mysterious note slipped in between the pages of a book. Knowing she should not keep it, she cannot help but take it home, hoping that it will take her mind from her difficult circumstances.
Frederick, Earl of Greaves, is a stickler for propriety. It is all the more irritating to him that he has had to step into an unscrupulous situation in order to rescue his brother. What makes matters worse is that the last note has somehow gone missing and that, somehow, a young lady has become entwined in it too!
Determined he will have to remove her from this situation at once, Fredrick goes in search of her and discovers that he may have to involve himself with her more fully than he ever intended.
This book is the final book of a series called The Spinsters Guild, a group of unusual ladies who are almost “on the shelf”. Can Lady Emily help them find their perfect match?

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved watching each young lady find herself and her true love with each story. Lady Beatrice is an amazing and strong young lady, her and Lord Greaves will do well together. Although I knew who the guilty party was long before it was revealed, it still made me sad and angry.
I truly loved the ending for Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham.

I loved the main characters and eagerly followed their romantic, and
adventurous, journey. Rose always writes great regency romances with lots of depth of characters. She surpasses herself this time by adding in a mystery. It was fun to see the two main characters fall in love as they literally pieced the clues together – lots of exciting and unexpected moments! Lady Beatrice, the leading sweetheart, was helped by the Spinsters Guild, an on-going part of this series. I was sad to see the Spinsters Guild apparently ending but hope to see Lady Smithton back again — maybe to solve another mystery?!
This is the last book in “The Spinsters Guild”. I have read all of them, liking some more then others, this one is my favorite. All of Rose Pearson’s books are clean stories, and while I usually like my books with more heat her books always keep you wanting to know what’s going to happen next… love it.
This one is no different, it is about and uptight, straight-laced, Earl who is a stickler for all of the rules of society. The Earl of Graves, is so very proper till he happens to meet one Lady Beatrice, daughter of Lord Burnley. Even their first meeting is all wrong, as she jumps into his carriage, upset, sobbing, unable to speak and hiding in the corner! Her maid lets him know her name and asks him to take her to her fathers house. Poor Beatrice had just found out that her father the Marquess of Burnley has hinted at her not being his daughter!
How is she to find a husband when she can’t show her face in public.
Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham help her thru the Spinsters Guild, where they have helped other women.
Beatrice finds a note in a book, after being almost run over by a man. Knowing she should not take it she does anyway. Thinking it will give her something to think about other them what her father has done.
Unknown to her is that Frederick has been given a note that his brother has been kidnapped and the letter telling him what to do was left in a book in the town bookshop. Now his brother Adlington is just the opposite of him, he likes to drink, gambles, is always in debt and owning money to all the wrong people. Frederick has cut him off and will not give him and more. But he is his only brother and doesn’t want him to be hurt. When he finds out Beatrice has taken the note both their lives will never be the same…
With Lady Smithton, Lord Havisham and Beatrice helping him they try to find his brother and the people who took him. As they follow clues, run into danger and get harmed.
These two will find out what really is important in life, what one can’ t live without and how love is worth everything.
Don’t miss this one it is great and has more them one happy ever after.
You don’t have to read the books in order but will get more out of the series if you do.
Am sorry this is the end. But am sure Rose will start something special soon.
I received and ARC for this book and voluntarily giving my opinion.
This is the end of the series and wow it has been a wonderful ride. So many young ladies in desperate situations and each helped by Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham. I love this series so much I am sad it has come to its conclusion. Author Rose Pearson has really outdone herself in developing this series “The Spinster’s Guild”. The stories are a departure from the perfect debutante, calling hours, suitors galore, flowers and gifts, ballroom dances and quiet moments. Ms. Pearson’s Spinster’s Guild takes real women who are not perfect, who have flaws and encourages them and brings out the best in them. This book is about Lady Beatrice whose father is the Marquess of Burnley. When a rumor is circulated about Beatrice’s parentage, she is mortified that it came from her father’s own mouth. She seeks out Lady Smithton in order to assist her in overcoming the rumors and perchance find a match. It is a wonder that Beatrice’s personality was not emotionally damaged by the way her father disregards her worth. She is a fine young lady, compassionate, understanding, empathetic, loyal and kind. Her intelligence and astute observations do her credit in this story. Lord Frederick, the Earl of Greaves first runs into Beatrice accidentally while she is emotionally distraught because of her father’s rumor. He judges her harshly as too emotional and wants nothing to do with her. Greaves is a strange man. Everything must be as perfect as possible. From his cravat to his boots. He feels he must always conduct himself above reproach. He refuses to read the gossip sheets and refuses to listen to gossip as he feels they are not reliable. He holds himself to an extremely high standard and when looking for a bride expects the same of her. But when his brother’s life is threatened and held for ransom, he is beside himself. After he is properly introduced to Beatrice and he gets to know her better she becomes his ally along with Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham. The four of them work on solving the mystery of his brother’s kidnapping. An exciting story filled with mystery and suspense along with a blossoming romance. But not only that there is an added bonus to the story surrounding Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham. Could it be after all this time, no I dare not say it. This is a must read for the diehard Spinster Guild reader. I highly recommend it.
Lady Beatrice did not know why ladies she had considered to be acquainted since had smirks on their lips and whispers everywhere she went. She went into a bookshop went to back and discovered that Lord Burnley her father had been in his cups and he claimed that her mother had played him false. She didn’t know why her father had done this and went her maid caught up with her, she told her to get her hackney coach and then to come and get her. When her maid came to get her she went outside someone else was getting in her hackney coach and she crawled into the closest coach could find. The coach she crawled into belonged to Lord Greaves this is the final book in the Spinster Guild series and is well written and a quick read. I recommend this book highly…
What an amazing read. I love Regency reads and this one grabbed me right from the beginning it is written so well that you can picture the scenes as you read. I love how the brought the book to fruition. And the Characters are so well written as well. This is definitely a must read.
