A fun and unusual mixture of humans, some with magical qualities, immortals, and kittens!
Also a pair of twin garden gnomes.
Reg Rawlins is still getting used to her own powers as she tries to understand the characteristics of those who pop in and out of her life. And her mind (usually her mother’s voice.)
Without having read the immediately prior book to this, I understood the battle that had taken down the Witch Doctor, the battles of good vs evil. That battle resulted in a number of furry little mischief makers, who must be placed as far away from each other as possible.
Magic is infused in every page and action.
The Telepathy of Gardens (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator #5), my twenty-first read from author P.D. Workman. Well-written & enjoyable. a cute, clean cozy mystery continuing the ongoing adventures of Reg Rawlins. Now I need to get Delusions of the Past (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator #6) so I can get caught up on the series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
This is Book 5 in the Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator Series. These books can be read as standalones, but I find them to be so clever and fun that I’d hate to miss even a single page of one of these books. That being said, I will refer to the preceding book for continuity.
In Night of Nine Tails (Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator Book 4), Reg depends on her friends and cohorts to help her when the Witch Doctor threatens to unleash his minions (called draugrs) upon Black Sands and take it over. They are able to capture and turn the draugrs into 9 kattakyns (like kittens). So now Reg is expected to help find homes for the kattakyns, from Black Sands to wherever they can go, the farther away the better. After all, the success of their work depends on the kattakyns never being able to gather together again and take form as the Witch Doctor. But Reg is sidetracked when she finds a little man crying in her yard. Between trying to help the man’s brother and finding homes for all of the kattakyns, Reg has her hands full as usual.
A whimsical and delightful book in true form as only Ms Workman can write!
I was given a promotional copy of this book at no cost for the purpose of review. My review is a reflection of my experience with the book. I received no compensation for this review and I am not required to give a positive review. I am not associated with the author in any way.
I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. This story may be a little less “active” than others in the series but it is still very enjoyable. Reg seems to be gaining a little more equilibrium and is discovering more about her powers and her association with Starlight. She doesn’t seem to be quite as self-centered and almost uncaring as she was in NIght of Nine Tails, which was a big relief. I enjoy the way Ms. Workman introduces a new magical creature to each book. We have seen fairies, pixies, a witch doctor, zombies, and now immortals, a siren and a mermaid. These are in addition to all of the witches, warlocks, and other magical creatures that inhabit Black Sands, Fl. Hopefully having some of her questions about her past answered will help Reg move on with her life; but knowing Reg, I’m not betting on it. I can’t wait to see what Reg gets into next and what new magical creature awaits in the next book.
Reg finds that there really is no rest for the weary, and the action doesn’t stop. The fast paced story pulled me in and held my attention all the way to the end, with several different things going on at the same time. I like P.D. Workman’s version of the paranormal world and the characters who inhabit it. Their interactions and the dialog are natural and sometimes humorous. I thoroughly enjoy the series and look forward to the next installment.
I received an advance copy and this is my honest opinion.
Spend a day in Black Sands, Florida with this family-friendly sequel to Night of Nine Tails which has a surprise ending. I had an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
Another fun adventure…
Reg is still catching her breath from her last chilling adventure which had her facing off against the malevolent Witch Doctor when she is called upon to help find homes for nine very special kattakyns (kittens which, having previously been zombies created by the Witch Doctor, must be kept separated to prevent his return). Add to that an urgent plea from a gnome to serve as an intermediary between the police and the gnome’s twin brother, and Reg certainly has her hands full. This installment is not as action-packed as the previous book in the series but it is absolutely never dull. Reg must come to terms with some painful issues from her turbulent past as she navigates a plethora of new problems in this highly imaginative and totally entertaining installment of what I have found to be a completely captivating series. If you enjoy magic, humor, suspense and surprises, I think you will absolutely enjoy the Reg Rawlins series.
I was provided with an advance copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
Reg and her cat Starlight return in a new book. Reg is still learning about what her cat has to offer. Reg helped defeat the witch doctor which created 9 black kittens which need to be dispersed through the world so they can’t rejoin their powers. She gets involved with the garden gnome who provides her with a missing key. What does the key go to and what is the “treasure” Reg feels exist.
Interesting characters and a great story line. There’s definitely more to learn about this story.
Reg and Starlight are back with another volume of non-stop action. The writing is fresh and skillful. The plot is tight and multi-layered and filled with believable characters. It was a delightful read and I’m looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
