Since this is book 2 in the trilogy I can’t say much about what happens here without spoiling it. Let me just say that this is really good fantasy, with dragons, swords and sorcery! It reminds me a bit of the Throne of Glass series (Sarah J Maas), and that’s one of my favourites!
Please take my heart and repeatedly crush it, SM Gaither. This was so good. My emotions are in turmoil. I’m staring at the ceiling wondering if I am even prepared for the onslaught of emotion that is sure to come with the last in this series.
The relationships. The deep reflection and emotion that comes with the aftermath of book 1. It’s so incredibly well done that my brain is still caught up with Emrys’s thoughts and emotions. I knew he’d be my favorite character before the end of this series, and damn did have the best glow up.
what just happened!?!
This is the continuation of the exploits of Prince Emrys, Alaya and Sade. Along with other colorful characters. S.M. Gaither writes a captivating tale. She keeps you guessing on who is friend; who is foe. And you’ll wonder what the heck is going to happen next!!! Book 3, here I come! I highly recommend you try this series.
Goodness! This was one crazy ride. The story is extremely well written and the characters have grown greatly in this book. I love how Emrys has grown throughout this one. The support characters play their roles beautifully. The add such a perfect element to the story. It has so much drama and action throughout it. It is a stunning story that is so intriguing that it keeps you glued to it. The descriptions are vivid as the first and it allows you to see the scenes easily in your mind. This is most definitely a fantastic story that is definitely a must read.
Queen of Cursed Things was a fabulous book and with the way it ended I had no idea which direction this book was going to go. Knowing this is a trilogy you always worry about 2nd book doldrums but WOW! did King of Burning Skies deliver! Fast paced, action-filled, descriptive scenes that just draw you in. We got some new characters, and a new look at familiar characters. Resolution to some problems, and a whole host of new ones. The sickness and depravity of the king juxtaposed against the desperation and temptation of the prince was exquisitely done.
The romance – has there ever been a more star crossed pair of lovers? Her essence is literal poison to him, his people tried to eradicate hers and yet, and yet.
Book 2 in a trilogy that is just as strong as the first book. There is enough information that you can read this book as a standalone, but you’d be missing out. There is a complete story arc – but without giving spoilers, there is a MASSIVE set up for book three. The book will leave you eager to start the next.
Amazing story! I was anxious for this book. After I read book 1, I wanted more. The action does not stop. Alaya and Emrys fight to for their kingdom. A page turner with twist and turns, romance, magic, suspense and betrayals. I was captivated from the start.
I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
An amazing second installment!!! Wish I could give it 10 stars!!!
Oh the suspense, the intrigue, the twists and turns, the betrayals!!! I was anxiously waiting for this book and I literally inhaled it! I won’t get into details on the story, I hate to make spoilers. But if you like epic fantasy, then you absolutely must get this series and enjoy a unique story that will keep you captivated from start to finish!!!
Unlike some middle books in trilogies, this book is not just filler. It is action nonstop. You continue to watch the characters grow and evolve. The interaction between them draws you into the story even more. The world building is amazing with all the descriptive details. I can’t wait for the third book and to finally see how it all ends.
This story is amazing!! Seriously my favorite series. I’ve been patiently (not really) waiting for this book to release. After I finished The Queen of Cursed Things(book 1) I just couldn’t get it off my mind! It haunted me, in a good way. Haha The descriptions are fantastic. Her writing is beautiful. There’s great action. Romantic tension. Magic, monsters, mayhem. All the things you want in a book. Highly highly recommend!!!! And that cover is stunning!
LIT…. This book was so good I immersed myself in it for 24 hours finished …even though I’m an ARC reviewer this one is a 5 star rated book..though it’s book 2 in the series I was enthralled .you should read this if you love Swords and Sorcery.
This is the second in the series and often times I have noticed that the second one never lives up to greatness of the first, in this case though, the second was just as good if not better! I love Emerys and so I loved reading from his point of view. I am very much looking forward to the next one! I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
The 2nd book in The Serpents and Kings Trilogy is just as strong as the 1st one. Alaya and Emrys both come into their powers and fight to restore the kingdom. There are lots of twists and turns along the way that include old and new characters, and the Dragon, Rue, of course! Emrys and Alaya struggle to regain their trust in one another, while others desperately want to keep them apart. The cliff hanger ending is stunning. Can’t wait for the next one! ! I received an advance copy for my honest review.
A fantastic read that grabs you from the first page to the last. Its a fast past read with epic scenes, the scenes are written so well that I can picture them in my minds eye. This is a real page turner with twists and turns that keeps you enthralled with this read. I definitely recommend this captivating read. Its a must read.
