Responsibility—that one word sums up Wade Spencer’s existence since his father’s death. Thrust into the role of head of the family, he’s keeping the farm running and his younger siblings in line. When a life-threatening illness attacks his momma, he readily steps in to support her. Sure would be nice to have someone by his side to help carry the load, but all that responsibility hasn’t left much … much time for dating. Or maybe it’s just his reserved nature holding him back.
Dani Connor had gotten everything she ever dreamed of as a child. Married her high school sweetheart, had a sweet little girl she could shower with all the love she’d been denied by her own parents, and built a life far away from the farm. When those dreams come crashing down, she realizes that back at home on the farm is where she should have stayed.
It doesn’t take long after Dani’s return to Shiloh for Wade to realize she’s the one God has in mind, but Dani will have to get over past hurts and take another chance if she wants Wade to be part of her new dreams.

Dani and Wade’s story will have you swooning with the patient temperament that Wade has while pursuing Dani. You can’t help but see the love and patience in which God pursues us.
*I received an ARC copy from the publisher. My review was not required nor influenced.
I’ve enjoyed all of Andrea Boyd’s books I’ve read so far but I think this may be my favorite to date. In this book, there is a whole lot more than romance between a humbled, once uppity girl returning to her small home town as a divorced single mother and her steadfast, strong, dependable farmer neighbor. The story addresses where and in whom we truly put our trust and identity, the value of firmly grounded and faith-filled family, difficulties of surviving cancer treatment, and the intricacies in an abusive relationship. Despite challenges in his life, Wade is incredibly faithful and steadfast and his amazing tender love for his mom, his brothers and sisters, and Dani makes him a superhero. Dani has been through a lot of emotional trauma and still has much growing up to do but thrives under Wade’s care. It’s a story that will pull at your heartstrings and have you release a happy sigh in the end.
I received a copy of the book from the author and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
This book is wonderful!! It is full of emotions and will keep you turning the pages. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. It’s one of those books that you don’t want it to end, but you have to know what happens next.
“Dani, my whole life I’ve been waiting for you… for us.”
That sentence brought instant tears to my eyes.
Dani had been through hell which ahd battered her self esteem. But the fact that she was still able to hold herself up and fight for Piper was her most admirable quality.
Wade! Sweet, sweet man! He just became my number 3 Christian fiction hero. He was carrying the weight of his family after his dad’s sad passing and one would not blame him if he just wanted peace and less baggage until Dani and Piper came around and stole his heart. His patience, strength was so sweet to read about.
They both traversed through stages of letting go and trusting God with the outcome of their lives.
My most favorite part of the story was reading about Dani discovering who God is to her. That discovery helped her build another life and move on from her painful pasts.
This book mirrors to me how God turns things around for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.
You’d hurt with the characters but at the end you’d laugh and love with them.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Nevertheless, Your will, not mine, Lord.
I had so many emotions floating around while reading Waiting for You. Boyd brings complicated family dynamics out in full force. Wade Spencer is a man after God’s own heart and lives as such. At almost 30, he lacks dating experience that some might find weird but I thought it was a nice touch. He’s a kind, compassionate man with a killer sense of humor. He had me laughing one minute and the next in tears with the way he took such loving care of his mom, Leora, who is diagnosed with cancer.
The Spencer children rally around their mom and the realistic portrayal of their reactions to her diagnosis really hit home. There’s a scene with Jolene (a Spencer sister) and her mom in the bathroom after one of the chemo treatments. Leora is sick and laying on the floor. Something happens (no spoiler) and Leora knows how emotionally vulnerable her daughter is at that moment. It brought me right back to the days I spent with my own mom during her cancer and chemo treatments. Let’s just say I was a blubbering mess and had to reach for a tissue.
If I get emotionally tied to the hero in a story, it’s a challenge for me to connect with the heroine. In this case, that’s Dani Sutherland. Don’t get me wrong, there were moments that I was cheering her on, and some of the scenes between her and her dad choked me up. But I just couldn’t relate to her. I can’t put my finger on it but I think it’s because I’m so keen on Wade.
The supporting characters are exceptionally written. I liked how they each face obstacles and we get to see, for the most part, how those are handled.
I’m dubbing this book ‘country as cornbread’ because it clearly portrays much of the vernacular that is true to the Carolinas. In one scene, Wade has the windows down on his truck and Charlie Pride blaring on the radio. Back in the day my daddy liked to listen to Charlie Pride and it brought back fond memories.
I enjoyed every moment spent with the Spencer family and look forward to each of the siblings getting their own stories. Chase already has his in Mistletoe Kiss (Sweet Tea Holiday Collection). It’s a super cute novella you won’t want to miss!
My thanks to the author for an electronic copy of the book. I was not required to write a review. All opinions are my own.
This book y’all!! I just couldn’t put it down!!
This is my first time meeting Wades family and I felt like fit right in!
I loved them right from the beginning especially Wade! He’s my favorite. Why?
Because he’s kind, caring and responsible.
It must be hard always being responsible and yes I can contest to that. I took care of my mom when her diabetes went downhill and she could no longer take care of herself.
I admired my mom because even though she was sick she held on to her job as long as she could.
Poor Dani!! Just because you married your high school sweetheart or thought you did people and things change. Circumstances change. Sometimes out of our control.
We can’t foresee life’s events until we see that we make foolish mistakes.
I especially loved Dani’s grandmother. I love her advice that she gives her granddaughter along the way. She too is kind, caring and wise.
Piper was a pretty cool little kid. I felt sorry for being caught in the middle. It’s the kids that suffer.
I really enjoyed Boyd’s story. It’s full of love and promises. It’s also got the theme of forgiveness too. That’s the most important thing ever.
I’m looking forward to reading more of Boyd’s stories in the future.
I love her writing style because it flows smoothly along and will draw you into the story before you know it.
I highly recommend this book. I guarantee you’ll enjoy it. I did!
My thanks to the author and publisher for a complementary copy of this book. NO compensations were received and all opinions are my own.
Waiting For You (The Spencer Family #1) by Andrea Boyd
Waiting For You is such a great book, so hard to put down. Such wonderful characters and fantastic story. The way that Wade handles all the extra responsibilities after his father passed away is just amazing. I highly recommend this book.
This book is beyond amazing, so many different emotions going through me from different situations in this story. I did not want this book to ever end. This is the second book by Andrea Boyd that I have read and now after this book I can’t get enough of her books. I am starting When Forever Fades after I finish this review. If all of her books are as good as this one is and Mistletoe Kiss I will be buying more of her books heck if they are this good I will be buying all of her books. I fell in love with these characters in the first book and even more so in this book. Andrea makes you want to belong to the Spencer family and share all the love they have for each other. Wow what an amazing author.
This story touched me in many ways. I have strong connections to the characters in this book and I look forward to reading all about the Spencer Family. Like this family, I come from a large family, unfortunately, my family doesn’t live nearby. I’ve always wanted that closeness, but we still have it in our hearts. The author brings out all the wonderful things about having family nearby, and yet there are also some problems with that too.
This story shows the love of a strong family and how they each deal with issues in their family. I really appreciated all the realness and honest emotions many of these characters dealt with.
Andrea Boyd is a skilled author and she weaves a beautiful tale of love, trust, self-assurance, healing, and hope. As these characters go through some tough times, the author sweetly brings in the hope we all can have in God. It’s not pushy, or fake. She presences it in a very real way.
I highly recommend you pick this book up to read.
This is the first book in the Spencer Family series and I’m looking forward to finding out about each family member.
This was a sweet love story. I love how the author shows the characters as Christians who regularly talk to God about what is going on in their lives without the book seeming preachy. Prayer is just a part of the lives of the characters who turn to God in good times and hard times. A question the Lord asks of the female protagonist, Dani, is who God is to her. This led me to consider in my own walk with Christ and who He is to me.
My first introduction to this author and I loved it. Both of the main characters had to deal with insecurities and responsibilities placed on them by their circumstances. Dani suffered from being abandoned by her real parents and although she knew her grandparents loved her, she always wondered if things would have been different if she grew up with her parents
This definitely affected her later on and affected the way she viewed God that she had to heal to have a healthy perceptions of who God is to her. I loved that she made a conscious effort about that learning to see God in many ways.
Wade too such a wonderful hero, I loved getting to know him and his close knit family. They way they were always there for each other no matter the situation. He dealt with the burden of his father’s death and the responsibility of being there for his siblings, he missed out on certain things but never felt bitter about it. It was nice to see him finally get his happily ever after.
This was a beautiful book with threat biblical lessons. I enjoyed every minute of it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All opinions expressed are solely mine
My favorite Andrea Boyd book so far!
Abandoned by both of her parents, Dani’s perception of herself greatly throughout had suffered greatly, despite the love her grandmother showed her. It influenced her choices and actually led her to make a terrible mistake when she chose to get married. She was now living to regret it.
Even worse, this affected the way she viewed God and thought He viewed her. I loved the way she began to look at the many roles God played in her life beyond the role of Savior and how that changed her entire outlook. We could all benefit from spending time pondering who God is to us. . .
Wade had been filling the shoes of his father after the accident that claimed his life. He was the responsible one and didn’t have time to spend thinking about himself. He was such a noble and caring man!
I really enjoyed this sweet story. The spiritual lessons are so important for us to understand. As Dani learned how loved and wanted she was by God, she was able to accept the love others had for her as well.
Piper, Dani’s daughter, was so cute! I loved the way she trusted Wade immediately and formed such a close bond with him. And the way Wade was so enamored with her! And what he did with the pony and the llamas. . . Awwww!
I’m looking forward to reading more stories about this family!
If you enjoy sweet romance with a strong spiritual message, you will want to read Waiting for You.

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.”
3.5 stars
“Who am I to you?”
It was a question that “God had been asking (Dani Connor Sutherland) . . . for a while now. . . . Who was God to her? What defined their relationship?” What if the answer to that question would help settle her heart and mind about all of the changes facing her at the moment, what if it could redefine how she saw herself; into someone that was actually, finally, and always “good enough”.
When Dani Connor moves back to Shiloh with her young daughter, at the request of her aging grandmother, she never expected to attract the attention of a man like Wade Spencer. Hard working, honorable, respectable, responsible . . . . all of the things that Dani’s ex-husband had not been. Thriving under Wade’s quiet strength and unshakable faith, Dani allows herself a measure of hope. But of course, life is not that easy, and several unexpected missteps will either become insurmountable roadblocks or must needed detours.
Readers will fall in love with Wade Spencer, it’s impossible to ignore his noble magnetism and unconditional love. And Dani? She will attract all of those same fans over to her “go girl!” cheering section. But the real driving force behind this story is the One who claims both of them as His very own. What a sweet story!
I received a copy of this book from the author. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.
What a great story and a romance that any couple would want. How much more romantic could you get than Wade? He had patience with Dani and loved her little girl right from the start. He won me over for sure. I really felt for Dani and the life she had growing up and her bad marriage. She was so pushed down but Wade was such a great guy and she finally saw how she was supposed to be treated. I enjoyed this beautiful story and highly recommend this book and author.
I received an ebook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I was first introduced to the Spencer family in Mistletoe Kiss.
Dani Conner wanted more in life than to marry her neighbor Wade Spencer, who took over his family’s farm after his father’s death. She marries Tate Sutherland instead. When her marriage ends in a divorce, Dani moves back home with her 4 year old daughter Piper to her grandparents’ farm and meets Wade again. Dani has some growing up to do.
The Spencer family rally around their mother when she is diagnosed with cancer. I am looking forward to reading each of the Spencer siblings’ stories.
I received an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
