A dead earth, a hand full of survivors, and a game that could wipe out humanity.I was one of the few humans to be saved by the shining ones. Powerful beings who came from the stars just in time to stop the annihilation of mankind. But they’ve been here before.Earth was once their home and humanity has another name for them. Fae.Now we live in iron cities paying for haven as workers and conscripted … Fae.
Now we live in iron cities paying for haven as workers and conscripted warriors.
We owe them after all.
Until they ask too much.
The Regency Tournament is about to begin. A test of prowess for the shining ones to determine which House will rule their people for the next century.
And we humans? We’re the prey.
But I didn’t survive earths almost destruction to be hunted like a beast.
If I’m going to go down, then I’ll be taking these pointy eared wankers with me.
And I have an advantage. A shadow companion—protective but tough. My mentor has trained me in the art of survival. With his smooth dulcet tones in my head, and his shadowy form at my back, I’ll no longer be prey.
And when I hunt the shining ones, they won’t even see me coming.

What a wild ride and it’s just getting started! I devoured this book like a starving person because it was so good. It was like a messed up magical Hunger Games on crack! I absolutely love Dani and her crazy fighting spirit. I can’t wait to read more of her story! Such a great book!
Book one and oh what a fab start it is! An Addictive Urban Fantasy Romance adventure set against a Post-Apocalyptic back drop in a dystopian world with a slow burn romance that once you start it you will not be able to put this down! The author drags you into this world that is fast paced and exciting and totally full of adventure and wonder and intrigue with characters that are kick ass and deadly! I am so hooked on this that I really need the next book like ……NOW please!
This story gave me many late nights because I couldn’t put it down. The story was mesmerizing, intriguing, fast-paced and action packed. Dani/Danika was willing to work as a night guard to protect her family from the “shining ones”. All the rules suddenly change and she must fight for her family. Killion is her shadow friend that protects her when he can. Can he save her from the shining ones? I’m still thinking about this book and can’t wait for the second one.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
A thrilling fantasy/dystopian read
Dani, a human guard, has felt drawn to Killion, a non-human and her mentor, for all the years that she has known him. As the story progresses guard duty was supposed to come with certain guarantees, they both start to feel the draw, and a new game will change everything. Debbie Cassidy’s Taste My Wrath is a thrilling fantasy/dystopian read that left me craving more.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
fabulous new series! reminiscent of the Hunger Games, but with a huge twist … excited for book 2!!
This is going to be an intensely exciting series! Full of action, fear, danger, and cunning it pulls the reader along to experience each emotion with an intensity that is like a drug. You want more. You need to find out what happens next. You need it now. I loved it! I loved Dani and Killian. I can’t wait to read the next book!
This book was so good. There is enough flirtatious scenes that her match isn’t a dead giveaway which is nice. I thought I had the plot line and twist figured out but nope Debbie manages to surprise me as always. Can’t wait for more because the cliffhanger completely surprised me in the best way.
What an amazing book! Debbie cassidy creates an intriguing and entertaining fae book. I loved Danika, she’s strong and such an amazing character to follow. The world building is absolutely epic, which I’ve come to discover is Debbie’s skill when it comes to her writing. The story flows beautifully and keeps you glued to the pages and wanting to read chapter after chapter, not wanting to put this down. I can’t wait for more.
OMG!!!! I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with the characters and the plot. Just when I think that Debbie can not get any better and I have found my new favorite series, she comes out with something new.
In Taste My Wrath we have our female lead Danika or Dani as she likes to be called, is as usual of a Debbie book, is a kick a@@ character. I love this UF world of Fae and how humans are used. She gets help from her shadow mentor Killian. She has a couple of jobs but one of them is night watch against all the scary things in the night. So we know she is a fighter. Killion has helped to make her so. He also helps her to bring stolen food to the needy. But when her sister gets taken in a deadly game, she breaks all the rules and helps her. Luck has it to where instead of death her sister gets taken behind the gates never to be seen again. She fears for her sister so when a another game comes up, for a chance to go into the Fae city, she volunteers. She will do anything to find her sister.
Wow guys I just have to say I had my nose buried in my kindle the whole time. I do not think I lifted my head at all. I could not stop reading. I just loved everything about this story. From Dani to Killion and how they helped each other, their chemistry is spot on. I loved how possessive and protective he is of her. But there are secrets he cannot share, and plenty we have left to learn. There is a mild cliff hanger but I do not think it is too bad. This is a M/F romance which I love. Pretty much what ever Debbie writes, I am going to read. I cannot wait for book two Feel The Power coming December 10th.
Hunger-Games got nothing on this!
So freaking good!!!! Oh my word! This is like an Adult-Hunger-Games: brutal and gory at its finest! You have to read this! Debbie keeps killing it like always! Im a die hard fan and this baby had me up all night! Couldn’t put it down! Love everything about it! To save her baby sister, Danny volunteers to enter the deadly games. Her journey is gruesome and nonstop action! Her mentor Killian is my new book boyfriend!!!
Debbie Cassidy has a talent for bringing original stories with engaging plots to the table, and this new adventure is no different.
19 year old Danika has grown up in a world ‘saved’ by the Shining Ones, condemned to peddle her gratitude for another day living by accepting a government assigned library job and patrolling the grounds as a part-time guard against the Bleak. It’s hardly glamorous, and it doesn’t quite pay the bills or put food on the table, but she has other ways of doing that… ways that give her an edge when the rulers on High flex their muscles and call The Regency Games.
Fast paced, deadly and wholly mysterious, this book weaves myth with a Dystopian feel, crafting a plot that flows at a break neck speed, yet still allows the characters room to be discovered by the reader. In other words, it’s a great Urban Fantasy sure to please.

Taste My Wrath is book one in a new urban fantasy adventure set in a dystopian world with a post-apocalyptic flare and a M/F slow burn romance. This book snags your attention from the very beginning as Cassidy builds a new world full of excitement, intrigue, mystery, and suspense and loads the pages with adventure, humor, action, danger, and a tease of romance.
The characters, as always, are fantastic; the main female character, Danika (Dani) is strong, determined, and full of heart, wit, and snark. She is a protector and a champion who works in the shadows to help those who cannot help themselves. She helps support her family and is devoted to her community and friends and she also “sees” the wrongs and the subterfuge hidden by those in power – the shining ones, while most everyone else remains under their influence and compliant to their rules. After all, they did save what was left of the human race from annihilation but it came with a price, though few can see or understand the cost of that survival. When they go a step too far and “invite” her younger sister to partake in their games, she steps in to help. She will not lose another sibling to the shining one’s wretched games for entertainment and though actually her older brother did survive, he came back broken and the shell of the young man he once was. This will not happen to her sister, not on her watch! Yet when circumstances happen and she is taken anyway, Dani volunteers to be part of their horrid blood-match to gain access to her sister. She is smart, has many hidden talents, and can kick some serious a**. She will survive, she will win, and she will rescue her sister.
Killion, her mentor, enters with a flare of mystery and holds this status throughout the book. He only appears in shadow form so Dani never actually sees him, except for the occasional brush of a touch, and he comes and goes at will yet is always there when she needs him most. He saved her life and taught her how to fight and survive but this new dangerous situation she finds herself in, they are both unsure of how much assistance he will be able to offer or if he will even be able to save her this time. He has some deep secrets and knows a lot more about the shining ones than he is sharing including where he fits into it all. I am seriously intrigued by Killion’s character and I cannot wait to find out who he is and what connection he has to Dani. There is something there, always simmering under the surface, but it is not yet revealed in this first story. I have my suspicions but I will have to wait and see…
The Regency tournament and the Houses are a nice twist to the story. There are several houses vying for supremacy and Dani is smack dab in the middle of it all with her fight to survive the brutal life and death games and the quest to find her sister. This setup is fascinating and I am looking forward to learning more of how the Houses interact and what exactly they do with the chosen ones who are “invited” to play their games and survive; especially since no one, aside from Dani’s brother, has made it back to tell the tale and he is forbidden (bound by magic) from revealing the truth. There is so much mystery here to unravel.
The backstory and world development are well-written and provide a good descriptive setup for the series. Since this is the first book, I expect there is still some fleshing out of the world-building to do as the series continues but what is here so far is great. Cassidy really has a way of bringing worlds to life with her words.
Everything about this new world is gripping and I cannot wait to learn more as the series goes forward. There are so many questions to be answered. It will be exciting to watch how it all unfolds.
This is a new series in a new world by Debbie Cassidy and is back to roots of being an UF/Fantasy writer. This series is not RH but straight M/F love interest however the emphasis is on the storey and not Romance. All Debbie’s books have sizzle and heat but the storey always comes first.
The Book has a slower start than some of her others but i appreciate this as the time and trouble has been taken to fantastically world build and brilliantly define characters.
Danika is our new female main character and as with all Debbie’s stories she is strong and driven. The difference to some of Debbie’s other stories is that she is driven to protect her Family and also a burning need to provide for her neighbours. So by Day she works for the Guard protecting the town and by night she is a masked thief who steals food to provide for those in need.
When her sister is chosen she try’s to protect and save her however her sister is taken anyway. So she volunteers for a life and death game that will provide extra food for her family but also if she survives allow her to gain access to where her sister was taken.
The action builds through out the book and storey is intriguing especially around Killion – who is he?, what is he? where goes he come from? and i suppose most of all why cant he stay during day light hours?
Oh and get me started on the sword, i hear a very sarcastic Alan Rickman voice when ever the sword speaks – need to definitely know more about it.
So as you can guess this book is bloomin brilliant – it grabs hold of you quickly and doesn’t let go but you will be desperate for book 2 as there are so many questions you need answers to!!! Book2 cant come quick enough!
Taste My Wrath is the first book of The Iron Fae series by Debbie Cassidy and it is impressive. It’s set in a world where the people exist solely because the Fae are their saviors… or so the propaganda tells them.
The FMC is a guard who has a shadow mentor named Killion. He has taught her many things. She is kind of like Robin Hood stealing food and feeding families using her skills.
The Fae use humans to satisfy their need for entertainment by hunting them periodically. In a sense, the hunt… it’s like Hunger Games, but so much worse. Then volunteers are requested to decide who will retain control of the area where they live. The FMC volunteers and the rest is a fast paced, heart stopping, page turning story that left me ready for the next book.
This is MF paranormal/sci-fi. The world building is incredible, the characters endearing, and the plot is unforgettable.
This is an honest review provided for an ARC of the book.
Another amazing book by Debbie!! Dani is a force to be reckoned with. The ending though…I need answers. Dani was found and adopted so who is she truly? What is her connection to Killion? What is her connection to the sword? How can she understand the bleak? I cannot wait for the next book and some answers!
Debbie Cassidy….this women really knows how to write and how to write a book that has her readers flipping the pages as quickly as possible to get more and more! She has started a new series of with a bang and I am completely invested in the characters of this story. Book one has really set the scene for what is to come in upcoming books. Debbie created a world that comes alive in front of your eyes. It is full of action, killer characters, mystery, suspense and drama.
Danika is a great FMC…is is tough, deadly and mysterious! Who and what is she? Where did she come from and how does she do what she can do? She is fiercely loyal and protective of her family and those around her but this too can go against her as she hesitates at times when she needs to just react, but this is the beauty of her and her humanity.
Killion…wow he is deadly and also full of mystery. You just get these glimpses of him through the book that wet your appetite and leave you excited to learn more, especially with that ending! He is completely devoted and connected to Danika but how and why? What is their past and where does their connection come from! I can’t wait to learn more.
Another great thing about this book are all the supporting characters, they help bring this book to life. But warning it is like Game of Thrones, do it get attached…lol no spoilers!! I cannot wait to see what we get from these characters in the next book…what are the Winter Princes up to, how are Dani’s family, can we get more a Magnus? So many questions… I cannot edit to read more from this captivating and exciting world that has been created by a great author!
I have been a fan of this author for a while even when she writes in a genre that isn’t my favorite. This genre is my favorite, and this one is fantastic! Now, I do have to warn you that the beginning is a little slow as the author sets up the universe. It’s not bad at all, but just stick with it as the book becomes a wonderful world of intriguing characters and a heroine that is steadfast, loyal, and interesting. The secondary characters are interesting, too. The end had me gasping wondering just what will happen next. This is a new series well-worth a read. Give it a try; you won’t regret it! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
