It’s been seven years since Quinn Walker ended our engagement and left me with a broken heart. I’ve moved on, married his enemy, and started my own family. Everything was perfect…until it wasn’t. My new life was a lie, and my husband turned out to be a fraud. The man that I married was now a wanted fugitive, and my ex-fiancé was the cop who was intent on making him pay. He’s convinced that a …
He’s convinced that a simple apology and a dimpled smile is enough to fix that broken heart that he tore apart years ago.
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him at a distance. Yet, all it takes is one kiss, one touch for me to remember how great our love was before he threw it away.
Little does he know that I’m not the young, foolish girl who he left behind. If he thinks he can waltz back into my life like the past never happened, he has another thing coming.
I can accept that fate sent him back to me. Now, I need to assure my foolish heart that this means nothing

I really liked this book, the story was written so well. I liked the twist and turns but the romance was there as well along with great chemistry and characters.
This is my first time reading S Jones and it definitely won’t be last. Whatever It Takes is told in first person, dual person POV. I’m a sucker for second chance romances and that’s exactly what Charolette and Quinn’s story is. Add in Quinn’s husband and you get some suspense.
I can’t imagine how Charolette felt when she learned exactly what her husband was capable of. Grant is a grade A a$$hole!! It’s like he is living a double life and manages to put his wife and child in danger. Quinn is a police officer now, and makes it his life’s mission to keep Charolette and her daughter safe.
Will Charolette let him back in? Does she trust Quinn with their safety? Will they rekindle their relationship?
This is the first time in reading this author. What lured me to this one was what was to be in the story. It would be devastating to be married to someone and they turned out to be something else they were that good at camouflage. I was at one time so I know how it feels so could relate to this character Charlotte. Oh then there is Quinn and everything is upside down. I also smelled a second chance. Funny how guys and gals think different when certain issues are involved. That is what happens here also. The tug of war goes on with us as the onlookers. The chemistry is the fuel with their story being what keeps us in their business. You also have to see how it turns out with all the hearts that are involved.
This is a second chance romance read that I really enjoyed. It had suspense with a hint of danger that kept you on the edge. The main characters had lots of hot steamy chemistry. There are 2 nosy bffs, a supportive brother, a daughter who is sweet, a sorry soon to be ex that you want to murder and two people with a second chance.
4.75 stars
This is the first book I have read by the author and it will not be the last. Charlotte and Quinn fell in love when they were younger but unfortunately the timing was off. They went their separate ways and it left Charlotte with a broken heart. Adding insult to injury, Charlotte and friends went out to help her drown her sorrows and she wound up on a new path with a new man. Fast forward seven years and Charlotte’s husband Grant is not the man she thought he was. As a once promising attorney, he is now a wanted fugitive after being involved in a car accident, killing some people and leaving the scene. Helping the police to find him, Quinn returns to protect Charlotte and her daughter Emery from the unsavory people with whom Grant was involved. The storyline flows nicely and you feel for what these two have gone through. However, the way that Charlotte behaved may get on one’s nerves as she kept floundering between should she get involved with Quinn or not; although it is understandable based on their history. What is boils down to is the communication or lack there of that needs to be addressed if these two have a chance at a second chance at love. Can Quinn finally man up and be the man that he should have been all those years ago? Will Charlotte be able to let go of the past and give Quinn that second chance that he wants? This is one story that will put any reader through his or her paces but it is definitely worth one clicking to read. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Quick awesome read
Quinn and Charlotte were engaged years ago and he broke it off.Now he is back in the picture to hunt down her husband who is running from the law.Charlotte feels like she has been living a lie she has always loved Quinn.Þhis was a excell entering emotional read that will definitely give you all the feels
Charlotte had a good life married to district attorney Grant and mother to six year old Emory. When Grant is involved in a car accident that kills five people and vanishes, everything falls apart for Charlotte. Quinn is a police detective and ex fiance to Charlotte. He wants to protect Charlotte and Emory from Grant and the shenanigans he’s involved in up to his neck. Will Charlotte let the man that hurt her so badly in the past back into her life? She has to be cautious with her heart and her son. A stunning read about secret lives, love, sweetness and second chances.
I absolutely love the work by this author and this book does not disappoint, it’s absolutely fabulous.
I’ve read books by this author before and I couldn’t wait to read this book.
I absolutely loved these characters. Charlotte has a hell of a lot going on especially with her estranged husband who’s gone missing. Her life is abit scary at the moment for her and her daughter. She’s been highly
manipulated by her ex husband in ways that will shock the hell out of you.
Quinn has come back into her life at just the right moment. He’s very protective and I love this about him. He will do literally whatever it takes to keep them both safe. I absolutely love the kind of man he is and his morals.
These two have been in love with each other forever.
Is this a second chance at love for two people who have never stopped loving each other? Is it fate?
This book is a complete page turner and I couldn’t put it down.
I always love books that have epilogue and prologue and that are told from different points of view. This book had my emotions all over the place and this book is full of twists and shockers and will have you gasping in places.
This author doesn’t disappoint she has an amazing gift of writing and this book has kept me gripped from the start
I would highly recommend this book and this author because this book keeps you guessing throughout it was an awesome read.
An honest to god five star read.
Thank You
Wow! Loved Quinn and Charlotte’s story. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Whatever It Takes is very well written with wonderful characters and a great, easy to read storyline. It’s a fantastic, action packed page-turner full of suspense, angst, and a second chance at true love.
Quinn walked away from his engagement to Charlotte seven years ago leading to circumstances that change Charlotte’s life forever. Seven years later and Quinn is back and is one of the detectives on the hunt for Charlotte’s current husband. Things aren’t always as they seem and Charlotte’s learning her life has contained more secrets that she could have ever dreamed of.
Things get worse before they start to get better but Quinn swears to do “Whatever It Takes” protect Charlotte and her daughter.
Highly recommended!
What a rush. Intense, sexy, crazy, fun and all around intriguing. This was such a great book. The characters are amazing.
Charlotte and Quinn were once ready to begin their young lives together. Until Quinn up and leaves, leaving Charlotte heartbroken.
Many years pass when the two meet up again. After each living their lives, filled with crazy ups and downs, they come into contact under some intense circumstances.
Super addictive, sexy and insanely crazy. This book really has a bit of everything.
5/5
Second chance romances are tricky to pull off in my opinion, but this author definitely did it with this one! I loved everything about this book from the primary characters to the secondary characters to the mystery to the love that Charlotte and Quinn share. It all came together so flawlessly! I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a five star second chance romance!
Wow, what a story. I couldn’t put this down from first page. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. And what other revelations came out. This was such a good second chance book.
I loved Charlotte and Quinn together, even after all the years and all the hurts they was suited for each other.
It may have started out wrong, with hurt feelings but it grew into more.
I highly recommend this book.
Quinn and Charlotte were very much in love until his plans went sideways. Quinn handled their situation poorly and bowed out of their engagement. Now its seven years later and Charlotte is in a malstorm caused by her husband. He was not who she thought he was and now he is on the run leaving Charlotte and their daughter to handle the fallout and danger as well. Quinn still has his feelings and is determined to show Charlotte but someone is out there looking for he husband and Charlotte is the best way to get to him. Can Quinn keep them safe? This story will have you on the edge of your seat until the last page.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’m at a fence about this book – I mean it was good and all but Quinn got on my nerves. Charlotte was deal with a lot of stress and he kept making the same mistakes and pressuring her to give in. So obviously I’m not a big fan of him.
I liked Charlotte. She was doing her best to keep her head above water. His presence didn’t help the matter at all. I did love the HEA but still…
Unfortunately I’m giving my first 3* in 2020.

Charlotte Anderson is married to Grant, an Assistant District Attorney, and a mother to 6 year old Emory. When Grant is involved in a car accident that kills 5 people and then vanishes, she finds her life being scrutinized and soon learns that Grant may have had a double life. Yet nothing prepares her to be face to face with the man who previously broke her heart, Detective Quinn Walker.
Detective Quinn Walker was once engaged to Charlotte but broke her heart when he suddenly left. When he learns about what happened with Grant he knows that he needs to protect her, even though he is in a relationship with Bree.
Can Quinn keep Charlotte safe from Grant and whomever he was working for? Can Charlotte trust her heart with Quinn again, especially when she also has to worry about Emory?
This was such a great book and I enjoyed it from start to finish!
I thought Charlotte was a wonderful character and I hated what happened to her with Grant and how she was tossed into whatever he found himself in. Yet gradually we learn more and more about Charlotte’s heart and everything between Grant and Charlotte wasn’t as it first seemed to be. I thought Charlotte was an incredible mother and I was completely on her side on why she wanted Quinn as far away from her as possible with everything that happened in the past.
I thought it was great that Quinn was so concerned about Charlotte but at the same time I was confused on why he was there when he was still dating Bree. It was obvious that he still really cared about Charlotte but I thought the boundaries were very blurry and he was involved in something that he shouldn’t have been as the case was not his.
I was surprised about the past between Charlotte and Grant and everything Grant did to get Charlotte. It was so disturbing but I was also concerned as it showed how far Grant was willing to go to get what he wanted.
I felt so bad for Charlotte when she was torn between her loyalty to Grant’s family and what Quinn wanted and it broke my heart for both Charlotte and Emory for what they had to endure at no fault of their own. I was so mad at Quinn for how he acted and then a few secrets he kept from Charlotte.
The end made me smile and I was so happy for how everything turned out. I really was hoping that there would be an extra “link” between Quinn and Emory but I liked the way it all turned out!

Charlotte and Quinn fell in love so young that they didn’t really get to live. Then Quinn breaks up with Charlotte and destroys her heart. Where Grant steps in because he loves her and tries to make a life for them. For 7 years Charlotte misses Quinn and thinks about him. When Grant does the unthinkable and goes into hiding that’s when Quinn comes back into the picture and re-claims Charlotte. Since Charlotte has had a life with another man for seven years is it easy for him to step in or does Quinn walk away again and take a part from Charlotte? This book has its up and downs in it. It was a great book to get lost in.
This book was so exciting! Charlotte and the love of her life Quinn broke up seven years ago and neither one has recovered. When Charlottes current husband Grant is wanted for a bad accident where he fled the scene, one of the policemen that showed up at the door was Quinn. Quinn has every intention of just making sure Charlotte and her daughter Emery are safe as Grant has some dealings with some shady characters. As much as Quinn tries to be professional his heart finally comes back to life but Charlotte and Quinn have alot to overcome which is really entertaining. I will be looking to read more by this author.
Quinn and Charlotte have an amazing story that you do not want to miss out on. (They are one of my favorite couples that I have read about). Once engaged, they break up and then spend seven years apart. During that time, major events happen in Charlotte’s life that will change her forever. Once Quinn returns, the push and pull begins and it takes you on a crazy ride with drama. mystery, revelations galore, sexy times and eventually the happily ever after they were always destined to have. This is a must read for those who love a good second chance romance.
Oh, how I had a hard time liking Quinn for huge chunks of this book. He messed up years ago, but it seemed like he didn’t really learn his lesson. His immaturity in running to spend time with someone he shouldn’t when Charlotte and he fought, his penchant for walking away, and his sometimes irrational anger and stubbornness over the situation irritated me. That said, he definitely redeemed himself and proved to Charlotte that he really does eventually learn his lesson and applies that knowledge to doing better.
Charlotte annoyed me at times, as well, but it was easy to understand her brand of stubborn and her hesitance. After all, once burned and all that. And she also had more than just herself to worry about in this big, fat mess that became her life. She just needed to find her closure from one chapter before starting the next, which is understandable.
Once Quinn and Charlotte finally learned how to communicate and actually listen to each other, their story found its happy and lost the “is this going to last” worry. I’d definitely read this author again because she was a master at making me angry and hateful while still not being able to put the book down.
