Ships Passing is the eagerly awaited Book 4 in the My Mira Series whirlwind adventure that began with the killing of Navy Seal Kyle Clady’s wife, a social worker. Kyle’s story is fast paced and intense – unfolding over just a few days.
Ships Passing picks up with fellow Seals Kyle Clady and Jeff Swinger one week after Kyle’s wife is murdered. They are working their way through leads developed, in part, through aggressive questioning of a captured biker. Now, some bad guys are known – the Wolves – below the radar outlaw bikers. But the why remains shrouded. There appears to be some connection between a woman Kyle’s wife was assisting with some medical issues but exploring that avenue keeps getting interrupted by mayhem.
Clashes between the bikers and the Seals have not gone well for the bikers – reducing their rooster. More battles loom as Kyle needs answers and the bikers need to defend their reputation. An added dynamic of dissention in the biker ranks and a duel for leadership finds the Wolves fighting on two fronts.
Some interesting new characters are introduced as the plot widens. Unfortunately for Kyle, the new characters are bad guys possessing skill where the bikers had only braun. Hints are dropped about very sinister activity but the firewall remains in place. Locally, Elsa Teller emerges as the evil puppet master determined to win regardless of the body count.
Amping up the pressure on Kyle, the bikers burn down his house – destroying all physical ties to his prior life. Needed focus is eroded by the loss. Fellow Seal Swinger is rock solid in keeping Kyle grounded. Their bond and acting in concert provides an interesting look at unquestioning friendship.
More of the plot emerges as Teller engages Sven, an elite international hitman that never fails. Sven will be paid a lot of money.
Elsa Teller widens the net to ensnare Kyle and his Seal friends. Sven is pointed not at Kyle, but another target and a setup to cast suspicion on Kyle. This twist now has the bad guys chasing Kyle – as well as the good guys.
Ships Passing further solidifies the My Mira series as a well crafted and intense mystery/thriller – a true page turner – binge reading worthy. All characters are well developed and enveloping.
The continuing story of Kyle and his Seal buddies, it has it all, action, angst and just pure human drama. I could not put it down and was dissapointed when I finished it. I will say it helps to have read the previous 3 books in the series to better understand the plot lines and background. But again read it for a great adventure and enjoyable entertainment. Eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
The part I like best about this series is that it is not predictable and there’s more twists added to the story line. The “good guys” are not the superheroes you usually see in the movies just because they are well trained and because they are the ones to like. They are simply human beings that go through the same range of emotions and train of thought like everyone else.
One of the things I like most about this author is that his writing is very visual, from a simple gesture to everything around it.
Looking forward to reading the next “episode”.
To be honest, I felt lost when I started this book because of all the missing background found in the previous three books. However, if such a thing does not bother you, then you will find the book as a stand-alone, interesting.
Why? Well, for me, anything about a SEAL is raw genre I have been reading for years. Here, former SEAL Kyle Clady is attempting to discover those who murdered his wife and find out the reason why. He believes the most likely suspects are members of a local motorcycle gang, a healthcare doctor, or even some mysterious government agency.
Follow Lyle as he attempts to find the answers to his questions. For sure, it will not be a dull search.
Kyle Clady’s wife is brutally murdered and their house is burned down. He searches for answers as to why it happened. He goes after the Wolves, a motorcycle gang. A home town doctor is targeted and murdered. A lot to keep you wanting to read and them this segment ends. I have to wait for the next novel in the series to find out more. A great story line
Kyle Clady has had his heart broken, and now he wants answers and revenge.
The fourth in a continuing series featuring newly retired Navy SEAL, Kyle Clady, and members of his former Seal platoon, working together to find not only why Kyle’s wife, Mira, was murdered, but who all the players are that are behind her death. Clear cut answers elude Kyle as he wades through the murk of motorcycle gangs, shadowy government agencies, and healthcare professionals.
It is helpful to have read the previous books to know who the players are, and how all the strings Kyle is tugging on for answers are woven together. Lots of action, angst and agony for both the good and the bad guys.
