For as long as Scarlett can remember, Nelson Steel is the constant in her life. He’s her best friend, her confidant, her secret. He dries her tears with rough, stained hands. Teaches her to drive. Looks after her as she flirts with dating and even shows her how to kiss. She never tells anyone about the older boy next door because he depends on her, too. Every time his dad beats him up, she takes … she takes care of him. When he’s lonely, she keeps him company.
Her dysfunctional family, for all their problems, only helps her see what she truly wants in life. And, that’s Nelson.
Until the worst night of her life when she hears the arguing, the gunshots, and loses him.
She never imagines him coming home ten years later. But there he is, waiting for her on the other side of the fence.
Hardened.
Bossy.
And, sexier than ever.
There’re only three things Nelson cares about, his motorcycle, Steel Mechanics, and Scarlett. One gives him freedom, the other income, and…well, Scarlett, she’s the sunshine in his life. He’s thought about her every second of every day for ten long years.
But his path back to her is filled with violence, and he has a massive target on his back. The only crime he’s guilty of is loving Scarlett, and he’ll fight everyone in Missoula if it means having another chance with her.

Does their love stand a chance? Scarlett and Nelson are soulmates and support each other through difficult situations. The hardships they face bring them closer and no one can keep them apart. Chasing his Fox is heartwarming and romantic and the characters have amazing chemistry! Their love story is unforgettable!
Chasing his Fox in the first book in a new series, and I absolutely loved it. Their love is for each other was amazing and inspiring. With all their hardships, they still found their way. This book has everything you could want in a book and more. Love, passion, drama, abuse, heartache, and so much more. Chasing his fox was so well written, and an age gap that was tastefully done. Do yourself a favor and grab your copy. You won’t regret it.
Spaning decades two damaged souls meant for each other. This is another great book by Debra and we are lucky enough that it’s the start of another MC series. Its gritty, emotional, gripping and hot.
Another great read from Debra. This is Scarlett and Nelson’s story. Nelson is neighbors with Scarlett and they have always had a friendly relationship and watched out for each other even with the age gap between them. They go through many obstacles that life throws at them and still find their way back to each other. This book is full of drama, twists and turns and even heartache. I hope we get the story of some of the other characters from the story.
Captivated from the start. Well written with a realistic feel that will tug your emotions. Engaging characters. Nelson and Scarlett have always had a rare kind of relationship. Building a bond, a connection no one understood. A good guy stuck in a family of bad apples. Abused himself but always protective of his “fox”. Nelson is the one constant in her life someone Scarlett counted on and believes in even after the years where he was wrongly sent away. They have a love that was meant to be. Worth the obstacles to get there. Loved!! Would recommend reading. Can’t wait for more!
Couple: Scarlett (aka “Fox”) and Nelson Steel
Meet: Next door neighbors
Problems: Well, there are too many to describe right now. Besides, you don’t want me to tell you everything.
If you’re an 80s kid, you’ll love the setting of this book. It begins in the 1980s. We meet Scarlett while she’s bleeding in the treehouse and Nelson is trying to get her down. Her reason for being in the treehouse involves Butch who sounds like a mini version of Cujo. From here, we find 12 year old Scarlett always hanging around 20 year old, Nelson. Nelson has a bad home life and Scarlett’s isn’t much better because of her alcoholic stepdad. After a tragedy happens, it changes Nelson and Scarlett’s world forever. The transition for Nelson is a difficult one and Scarlett adjusts, but never really finds her footing until they see each other again.
If you’re a Debra Kayn fan, you’re going to love this book. Why? Well, it’s different from her other stories; but still has her little writing touches. It’s hard to explain to non-Debra readers. If you want to be like the rest of us, you need to buy this book and read it. There are twists and turns that are unexpected. Is there a HEA? Yes! Is there cheating? No! Will you love this book? Well, I most certainly do. Give yourself the opportunity to find out more about Scarlett and Nelson.
While I received this book via an Arc, I loved it so much that I purchased the book.
Can I just gush for a moment about how much I absolutely love Debra Kayn’s writing? There is just something so authentic about her stories and her characters that I find appealing and refreshing. Chasing His Fox is an age gap biker romance that feels like a prequel or origin story to something bigger. I say biker romance loosely because while our hero does ride a motorcycle and a MC is introduced, the story itself is focused on our main characters, Nelson and Scarlett.
Oh Nelson, what an alpha with a heart of gold. Our hero grew up in an abusive home, with an alcoholic father and siblings that–instead of banding together– also got pulled into a negative lifestyle. He had so many opportunities to leave but in my heart I believe he stayed because of Scarlett. Scarlett, the little girl who was his confidante, who patched up his broken nose and many wounds after his father would beat him in a drunken rage. In return, Nelson became her protector, her guardian, and her best friend.
I genuinely liked Scarlett. Her unwavering loyalty towards Nelson was admirable and heartwarming. Many times in romances when the tortured hero’s character is being questioned, the author usually makes the heroine go through some kind of doubt. Not Scarlett. It was refreshing to see a heroine that had the hero’s back, no questions asked.
Debra Kayn is the queen of age gap romances. Some authors use the trope as a way to push boundaries on purpose. Not Debra Kayn. When Kayn gives her characters an age gap, it just flows naturally and feels right for the couple. There was nothing dirty or obscene between Nelson and Scarlett. Their love was pure and they were truly meant for each other.
As I mentioned earlier, Chasing His Fox definitely felt like a prequel or origin story to a new MC series. Even though the Tarkio Motorcycle Club was in the background of the book, you couldn’t help but feel their presence. I especially liked Curley, Nelson’s best friend and member of the club. It’ll be interesting to see what Debra Kayn does next– if Curley will end up getting his own book or if there will be a time jump since Chasing His Fox ends in the early to mid 90’s. Regardless, I’m ready for ride!
This book was just amazing. I lived in Montana for a few years, and this book just brought back all kinds of good memories of the culture and lifestyle from living in that region. As I read this book, I couldn’t help but feel like I could be living in the small town, right along with the characters. It’s crazy how the littlest thing, like taking the game of darts seriously, can just sell you on a book and it’s realness.
Now for the romantic portion of the book, I flipping love age differences in between my H and h. And I love watching my characters grow as both individuals and as a couple. In this story you get to see the characters as friends, protectors, and lovers. You can just feeeeeeel the authenticity of this relationship. You know if you read more about this couple that they’re truly going to go the distance. And I do hope that. To read more about them, that is.
Yet another 5-star read for Debra Kayn!
