Amazing story! Sharon Hinck is an amazing writer! Not being a dancer did not make it hard to understand this story. Full of adventure. The story is about a young woman who has studied dance her entire life in The Order. Her floating world is controlled/guided by only the best dancers in The Order and she suddenly finds out that everything she has been taught about her world has been a lie. She leaves the Order and she learns to trust in the Maker even though it goes against everything she has been taught.
When I first read the title, and the synopsis for The Dancing Realms: Hidden Current, I did not think that it would be a book I wanted to read. I don’t know anything about dancing, nor do I have any interest in dancing. Only the fact that I read and absolutely loved The Sword of Lyric series gave me any reason to read Hidden Current.
The main protagonist who’s name is Calara, and the supporting cast of characters are just as well rounded and believable as the characters from Sword of Lyric. The world-building is once again superb, even when reading such fantastical occurrences. Writing such believable characters, even those who are only briefly mentioned, is a difficult skill to master. It is a skill that Mrs. Hinck has most clearly achieved and mastered. The antagonists are every bit as well rounded, and believable as the protagonist. All of the characters could very well be living, breathing individuals existing in the real world.
I am eagerly awaiting both my purchased copy of The Dancing Realms: Hidden Current, and the next volume in the series.
I obtained a complimentary copy from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
