Meet the Crawfords: Brilliant in business, lousy at love.Archer Crawford feels like a goof in a family of overachievers. Sure, he’s a successful accountant, but he’s the only accountant in the small town of Oak Creek. He’s also the guy women turn to when they’re looking for something temporary. Like Opal Whittaker, the local midwife.Opal had an itch and thought Archer was just the man to scratch … thought Archer was just the man to scratch it. No strings. No expectations. Just knocking boots.
Only problem? She can’t get the level-headed accountant out of her head. He was just supposed to take her mind off things for a little while. So why can’t she stop thinking about him?
Archer is sick of being the Crawford who makes questionable decisions. He wants people to expect more from him and he’s not going to let a rendezvous with a skunk or a grouchy cat get in the way of him winning Opal’s heart.
Will she ever think of him as anything more than a fling?

When Opal has a meltdown, she picks Archer up in a bar, warning him that it’s “just sex”, but can’t help coming back for more. Opal is an insecure midwife with loads of emotional baggage. Archer is an accountant who dresses like a derelict and blasts country music while he works, sensing he’s the underachiever of the family. Even so, he sees something very special in Opal that he can’t let go. His patience with her uncertainty about moving forward into a relationship is almost superhuman and his understanding and desire to protect her makes him the man we’d all love, even if he’s a bit of a flake. This is the third book of the series but I highly recommend reading them all.
This is a sexy, small town, heartwarming romance. Opal met Archer in a bar. It was only supposed to be a one night stand for her. Opal’s low self esteem keeps her from developing a relationship. Archer thinks otherwise. It was a journey for them to get to their HEA. The secondary characters add additional interest to the story
Lee Daniels narration was very good. She gives each character their own voice and personality. It was a pleasure to listen. I was gifted this audio and offered my honest review
This is the third book in the Oak Creek Series, a small town romance. Opal and Archer’s story is fun, sweet, sexy/steamy, and emotional. The storyline is interesting, slow paced, and filled with drama. Lee Daniels has a great voice, easy to understand. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. #storyorigin

A Fling to Forever Romance (Oak Creek, Book 3)
By: Lainey Davis
Narrated by: Lee Daniels
I am loving the “Oak Creek” series, the characters are awesome and their stories are amazing. This third book is Archer Crawford and Opal Whittaker’s story. Archer is the accountant in Oak Creek, he does the taxes for a number of residents and businesses in town. He, is not as quirky as the other Crawfords but he does have a bit of a quirky side and a personality all his own. Opal, a midwife, is conducting research she has a multi-year grant for her study, visiting patients in their homes a year after birthing, following up on their care. She wants to prove the benefits of better care to change the way health insurance funds care for families. Opal is smart, educated and dedicated to her work but she has personal issues, insecurities and low self-esteem that prevent her from having close relationships, friend and/or lover. One night in the local bar she battles with a shot of whiskey, to drink or not to drink, when Archer sits next to her and asks her a question. The two hit it off and Opal wind up having a sizzling hot night together. Opal is straight up with him, she is not looking for anything but a one night stand. But she can not get him out of her head, plus he quiets the noise of all her thoughts in her head. I loved these two together, they were perfect for each other. Archer admires her smarts when she talks about her study, she even got Hunter on board. Archer was not going to give up on her but Opal needed to learn to let go of what her past did to her and her guilt. Then she could love herself and allow herself to love. Lainey Davis is a master at heartwarming romances with some small town charm, some quirky humor, great camaraderie amongst friends, some steamy hot romance and a story that has a whole lot of heart. Thank you for another awesome story, I am looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series, Fletcher’s story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Lee Daniels is a terrific narrator and voice artist. She continues to bring these characters to life, giving them their voices and personality. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures the characters emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen

FABULOUS!
It’s sweet exciting and intense with emotions that hold on for a lingering spell. The chemistry is sexy and easy to grasp the passion they have for each other. The storyline is engaging with a rollercoaster of twists that held my attention and before I knew it I read the whole thing. A fabulous read that I enjoyed and definitely had me spellbound.
It’s good to catch up with the previous members of the family. This time it’s all about babies. Enter midwife Opal, who is doing a study in regards to pregnancy. She has issues in regards to her past & is slightly OCD. Add in the stress of her job she finds a release in the willing arms of Archer, the brother of both Hunter & Diana.
Not wanting to give much away this is quite a touching read & it’s also nice to hear more about this quirky family & their friends.
I think reading the previous stories in this series would give you a better insight in regards to everyone & their journeys in Oak Creek.
