I LOVED this book! Belle Scarlett is a new author to me, but I’ll definitely be looking for more of her work! This is a fun read, and I really enjoyed discovering how the author melded Scifi & Fantasy & Greek Mythology & Medieval romances. I very much hope we see more stories set on this world Belle has created!

I definitely enjoyed reading this interesting fantasy romance & it is a fantastic start to a new series “Royal Alphas” The plot is quite entertaining with a few unexpected situations. The characters are fairly well-developed & are inclined to be strong-willed individuals.
There is: a barbarian king & prime alpha (Slade) of Baria is very determined to claim a defiant female senator (Anya) as his partner & queen but Anya is just as determined to avoid the king & his claim not realizing that it could lead to his death, drama, attractions, defiance, determination, avoidance, memories, choosing ceremonies, a relic stone, some deceit, trust issues, manipulations, lust madness, explanations, compromises, some steam, contentment & a satisfying conclusion.
They crashed landed and he needs to find a mate. He wants her but she refuses so he has just one night to win her over. Will he win her over? Will she keep saying no? See if he can win her over

One Night with the Alpha King
Royal Alphas, Book 1
By: Belle Scarlett
Narrated by: Honey Scarlett, Leeroy Will
This is a great book, the story swept me right in, immediately grabbing my attention and holding it straight to the end. This is my first book written by Belle Scarlett and it will not be my last, I enjoyed her writing style and the fascinating and imaginative storylines, characters and world she created. This is a fantasy paranormal romance, I loved how much story she fit into her novella sized book and how she fit some Greek Mythology in there. Alpha King Shade chose his future bride, Senator Anya Fortune, but she is resistant and it is not because there is no chemistry between them. She has her reasons but she can not share it. This book is cleverly plotted and there is never a dull moment, there is plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Belle Scarlett, thank you for this great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will are talented narrators and voice artists.
They bring the characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality. Their portrayal of the characters is perfection, in addition to truly grasping their persona they capture their emotions which is reflected in their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
Despite being a short book there is a lot of world and character building in this story. This is my first time reading anything by this author and I shall certainly be happy to read more from her in the future.

I enjoyed this short story. Everything was consistent and the plot was interesting. The history regarding the different castes was also interesting.

When the king of Baria, Shade, meets Senator Anya Fortune, he is sure that she is his Promised One, the perfect partner for him. But Anya is stubborn and independent and rejects his offer of marriage. He now must find a way to make her want him, and he only has a limited amount of time to convince her. She is unaware that by not accepting him, she inadvertently is risking his very life. Will invoking his legal right to one night with her to change her mind be successful? Will they be willing and able to get to know each other in time to save the king from a certain death?
This was a clever twist to the genetics of mating. It might have gone smoother if he told her what would happen to him. It might have put everything in a better perspective for Anya. Grab your copy and see what the issue is and how it will be resolved.
I grabbed this book because I really do like science fiction, fantasy books but this book just didn’t do it for me. It had some good points but still wasn’t as good as I had hoped it would be.
It did do a really good job of world building and explaining the caste system. It also felt like a little bit too much time was spent on the past story of Shade’s family and caste group. It felt like it could have tightened things up a bit and not have lost anything in telling it that way.
If you want to know if this book had sensual heat. That would be yes, both in language and in actions too.
It did have a good twist towards the end. Just not enough to make it a favorite of mine.
