I read and reviewed previously four of the five offerings in this newly offered collection of first in series works written by Collette Cameron. They are all great reads. Emotional. Sigh-worthy. Romantic. What more can one want?
Triumph and Treasure is one of my favorite reads by Collette Cameron. I fell in love with both the main characters and their sweetly seductive story. Angelina, raised in America, found out on her wedding night she married a bigamist and then faces repercussions from that choice. To avoid scandal, she fled to relation in England and vowed to never again trust a man or let her emotions make her a victim. Flynn was on the brink of proposing to his ideal choice for a bride when his father loses a large gambling bet and end’s up shooting himself. Angelina and Flynn must each find a way of overcoming what circumstances thrust upon them. They are both kind and caring people. There are moments of terror in their story as well as moments of humor. Flynn is the ultimate protector of those he cares for. I adored him. The cherry on the top of their tale is as the author quoted, “For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also.”
A Kiss for a Rogue (previously A Kiss for Miss Kingsley) is a thoroughly delightful work. Our hero and heroine, Olivia and Allen, are absolutely charming. This is a well done second chance at love happiness offering and it was fun to read.
The Earl and the Spinster (previously Brooke) is a great start to what was for me a thoroughly enjoyable series to read. It is filled with great characters, dialogue, romance, and humor. Once you’ve read this one you will want to read the rest in the series.
A Diamond for a Duke was the very first book I read that was written by Collette Cameron. I found out when I read it that she excels at enjoyable, light, sweet and sometimes spicy “Cinderella” type romances. In my opinion, A Diamond for a Duke is more of a “frothy” type read compared to the others in this collection but is a great start to the Seductive Scoundrels series.
Unfortunately, I have yet to read and review The Viscount’s Vow. I have read the second book in the series and it was wonderful, so I am very much looking forward to reading this one.
This series is a good update to books previously written. They got a facelift and are better than ever. I hope you give these a try. A Kiss for a Rogue; The hero Allen W impleton is at a ball where the heroine, olivia Kingsley is at ,also. He used to be betrothed to her. They are still drawn to each other and kiss. It is the turning of the tide to get their HEA. The Viscount’s Vow; Viscount Warrick, Ian, and Evangeline Carruthers, Vangie, become acquainted when Ian is misinformed and ruins Vangie. He finds out that what he thought is actually wrong. He marries her to make things right. Over the course of time do they fall in love? Do they weather their trials? A Diamond for a Duke; this tale is reminiscent of Cinderella. The Duke of Dandridge, Jules and Emma Dumont were friends from an early age. Over time the families drifted apart. Jules married a woman that looks like Emma, but she passes.Emma has become a servant to her mother and sister. Jules and Emma meet again as Hebrides behind the door to get away from a scheming woman. Emma is having a nap on the sofa as she worked all night to get her sisters ball gown sewn. Here is where Jules has the wool removed from his eyes a n d really sees Emma. Do they finally get their HEA?
A Diamond for a Duke
Jemmah has had to endure years of neglect and abuse by her mother and sister and finally is discovered by her childhood friend Jules during a party asleep in a room he hides in and then fate steps in to make both of their lives so much better than either of them expected.
Triumph and Treasure
What a delightful story!!! It takes you from meeting the absolutely most despicable men to others that are wonderful.
I truly enjoyed seeing Angelina go from not being able to trust any man after her father, uncle and husband each show her the worst of the male species to her learning that all males are not alike.
From despair to all her dreams come true, this enchanting story will keep you turning page after page.
The Viscount’s Vow – This is a great start to a new series & Ms. Cameron always has entertaining stories to go along with her endearing, fun & witty characters! Ian, Viscount Warrick has only revenge on his mind for his brother’s death. Evangeline “Vangie” Caruthers is finds herself involved & things go from bad to worse when wedding bells are forced upon Ian & Vangie. The book has a little of everything in it from attempted murders to evil stepmother with some humor, romance, love in between. I highly recommend this story & it’s wonderful characters to all historical romance readers.
A Kiss for a Rogue – I really enjoyed Olivia & Allen’s story – it had some twists & turns which made it a fun read. Absence makes the heart grow fonder & it was true in Olivia & Allen’s love. The only thing I didn’t like about the story, was that it was too short. I would have like a little more time spent on building the characters but I will definitely read more of Collette Cameron’s books!
Diamond for a Duke – I was really looking forward to the new book to read from one of my favorite authors but unfortunately I found the book so wordy with little dialogue between our hero, Jules, the Sixth Duke of Dandridge & our heroine, Jemmah Dament. I experienced no passion or heat between the couple & felt the book was aimed more at young adult romance readers. I liked the basis of the story but I wanted more – it just ended abruptly with nothing mentioned of the possibility of the couple taking the ballroom by storm & allowing Jemmah to show she could be a lovely Duchess of Dandridge & fit in with the upper crust.
The Earl and the Spinster – I loved this first book in the series & laughed out loud several times. I cannot wait for more books in the series. Great book with everything you want in a romance novel……..humor, romance & really fun characters! Going to go buy the next in the series right now!
Triumph and Treasure – I love Collette’s books – she has such honest & likable characters that you can grab hold of and immerse yourself in to the story.
Flynn, has been thrown in to the title of Marquis of Bretheridge after the sudden suicide of his father & he had wagered and lost everything but his title to the Duke of Waterford. Now Flynn has an invalid mother, a disabled sister & an enormous gambling debt that he is unable to pay. Waterford makes him an offer Flynn can’t refuse. Our heroine, Angelina Ellsworth thought she was in love but that was before she found out her husband of just hours was a slave trader & a bigamist. She must find a way to escape to her aunt & uncle’s estate (Duke & Duchess of Waterford) before shame, disgrace & scandal find her. However; this only is the beginning of her problems when she finds herself with child. The Duke’s proposal is the marriage of his niece, Angelina to forgive the debt owed by Flynn’s father. Can two people who have never met build some sort of a relationship? Flynn will do anything to protect his mother, sister & the title & Angelina will do anything to protect her baby from the maniac who still is pursuing her – the journey leads us to a HEA with a few bumpy spots but a wonderful historical read that I highly recommend & I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
The Viscount’s Vow: Blaming her for his brother’s death, Ian intended to ruin Vangie. Instead, he is forced to marry the last woman in England he could ever love.
A Kiss for a Rogue: When a lonely wallflower is reunited with her former betrothed, sparks fly and passion sizzles, offering them a second chance at love.
A Diamond for a Duke:
Jules, Sixth Duke of Dandridge disdains Society and all its trappings, preferring the country’s solitude and peace. Already jaded after the woman he loved died years ago, he’s become even more so since unexpectedly inheriting a dukedom’s responsibilities and finding himself the target of every husband-hunting vixen in London.
Jemmah Dament has adored Jules from afar for years. She dares not dream she can win a duke’s heart any more than she hopes to escape the life of servitude imposed on her by an uncaring mother.
A chance encounter reunites Jules and Jemmah,
A re telling of a French fairy tale which I’d not heard of, it has tones of Cinderella as Jemmah is certainly the down trodden put upon daughter with a cruel mother & sister. It was a quick light read which I read in one sitting. The characters were well portrayed, I really liked Jules & whilst I liked Jemmah she was a bit too sugary for me. The pace was good & I enjoyed it I’m looking forward to the rest of the series
The Earl and the Spinster: He’s determined to sell her home. She’s vowed to save it all cost, including wagering her virtue in a winner-takes-all bet with her sworn enemy.
Triumph and Treasure:
One day, Flynn, Earl of Luxmoore was a wealthy, carefree lord, courting the woman he intended to wed. And the next day, he’s stripped of all but his title and left with no means to care for his loved-ones. When the person responsible for his ruination offers him a solution—marriage to an unwilling and resentful American beauty—he has no choice but to accept. Not if he wants to care for his ailing mother, elderly grandmother, and disabled sister.
Angelina Ellsworth unwittingly committed bigamy, and when she finds herself pregnant, she’ll do anything to protect her baby. Including fleeing to England and marrying a handsome nobleman, every bit as desperate and opposed to their marriage of convenience as she. She agrees to wed Flynn, stipulating two conditions: the union is in name only, and after a year, they’ll go their separate ways.
This is the second edition of the book & has some new material. I just adored Flynn who as well as being gorgeous was so loyal, honourable & trustworthy. How he treat Waterford was so commendable. He was also so gentle & caring of Lina. I also really liked Lina & felt for her situation & how her life could have been so different if ‘things’ had occurred either an hour earlier or later. Together the pair complemented each other. I also loved that we were introduced to characters who have their stories in the series. A well written book that flowed effortlessly, I was drawn in from page one & gripped until the end.
Collette Cameron never disappoints 🙂
The Viscount’s Vow: Thrilling story of a half Romani Princess Vangie, whose parents have died and she now is on the marriage mart. She lives with her cousin Yvette (Castle Brides 2) and her loving Uncle and Aunt. Ian Hamilton, the new Viscount Warrick since his brother and father have recently died, is at the ball to spy on Vangie. He has been told she is the reason both his loved ones have died. He is out to expose her as the loose moral half-gypsy vixen that she is. Only she isn’t. She has no clue what has happened and can not understand why Ian is paying her any attention. He dances with her and while they are dancing she faints. He takes her to a room instead of getting help and her lips suddenly turn blue. Panicking he loosens her stays and gets her to start breathing. However she is partially undressed and now others have walked in on them. To avoid ruination they must marry. Where he learns she is not loose and is terribly confused. He brings her home where she is treated horribly by his step mother and with a lot of treachery going on she decides to live with her grandmother. Which by the way is divorce to the gypsies. Now the King of the gypsies wants her and Ian is not pleased with that. He has to win her back and even proves to be a champion of the gypsies which of course wins his wife’s heart back…but still more treachery awaits them home
A Kiss for a Rogue: A wonderful tale of lost love with a Happily Ever After! Olivia Kingsley has found true love in Allen Whimpleton. Suddenly one night, her father tells her and her brother that they are leaving in 2 days to go to the Caribbean. Allen wants to elope immediately. Fearing her father may not live through the news asks Allen to wait. He takes her hesitation as her not loving him and breaks it off with her. Now 3 years later Olivia arrives at the Whimpleton’s ball. There the two set eyes back on each other and find that nothing has changed. Allen sticks his neck out and confronts Olivia and lets her he has never stopped loving her and she feels the same. Once again true love prevails
A Diamond for a Duke: A Novella loosely based off the fairytale Le Fees or The Fairies! The Duke of Dandridge, Jules was a second son who was ignored by his mother. He spent many a days playing with childhood friend Jemmah who is also a second born. Her mother ignores and treats her as a servant bestowing all her love and money on her firstborn Adelina. Adelina is quite selfish and very mean. Now that Jules is Duke his mother and Uncles want him to do his duty and marry. His godmother Viscountess Theodora Lockhart decides to “sponsor” Jemmah since her mother will only give her castoffs, which of course angers both sister and mother. Jules takes care of his niece and decides to marry Jemmah. Adelina decides to get herself in some trouble which now leaves mother alone and ill…Jules and Jemmah live happily ever after of course
The Earl and the Spinster: Brooke takes care of her sister and three cousins. They live on a simple cattle farm and produce cheese. She just wants to provide for her family and has come to terms with being a spinster. Her other cousin inherited the title and farm when her fathers passes and takes the rents but pays no attention to these ladies. When her nasty cousin losses the property to Heath the Earl of Ravendale she tries to think of way to “win” her farm back. Heath having no desire to own a farm falls for Brooke instantly. During their time together he gets hurts and she nurses him back to health. She tells him she will do anything to retain her farm. He wants her period so a wager is formed. Brookes dog must corral the cows into the barn. If she wins she gets the farm, if she loses she will become Heath’s mistress for a year. Well in true Cameron fashion they each get what they want…A lot of laughs with these girls and I “wager” the next Culpepper tale will be just as fun!
Triumph and Treasure: Delightful tale of betrayal and hope in finding new love. Lina is happily married for a matter of hours before she finds out her “husband” is a fraud and bigamist! Pregnant, shamed and embarrassed she goes to live with her aunt and uncle. She is then forced to marry Flynn, who is also being force for other reasons. After tragedy strikes they both must learn to trust each other and soon find love…But then her first “husband” shows up…Can Flynn protect what is his? A nice flowing steady paced read. The characters have personalities that make you laugh and some old friends show up too! Great first book in a series!
This is a great box set. You will love all the tales that follow in these sets!!!
