Lola’s got crap taste in men. It’s a family curse, really. So Lola’s come up with a new rule for her dating life: do not sleep with men you like. Just in time, too, it turns out, because she’s recently met Thorin Blackwell—a hot as hell djinn with a face like a god and abs to match. But nope, she’s safely friend-zoned Thorin. As long as they stay friends, Lola has nothing to fear. No drama. No … has nothing to fear. No drama. No betrayals. And certainly no broken hearts.
Thorin has his own reasons for keeping Lola at arm’s length. She’s vibrant, gorgeous, funny…and exactly the kind of woman he can never have. Monsters like him don’t get a happily ever after.
But when Thorin’s past comes back to haunt him, Lola is dragged into the center of a war between two of the most powerful djinn clans. Every wall will be torn down as they’re thrust together in a fight for their lives…and their hearts.

But fate steps in when his past comes back and she gets pulled into the middle of it. Will the friend zone leave as the closer they are the more their attraction pulls them together? One Mark
Lola is a gifted photographer. She has terrible luck with men always choosing the wrong men. She decides that she will NOT sleep with men she likes. She meets Thorin, the youngest of the Blackwell brothers. She knows that he is Djinn. They run, and comfortably hangout together. He doesn’t want to mess anything up by changing the dynamic of their friendship. She will keep him in the friend category no matter how handsome or delicious his god-like body appears.
Thorin has a dark past that is quickly coming back to haunt he and his brothers. The Northmann Djinn are back and want to cause trouble. The last time, 1644, Thorin destroyed a village and some humans. Rose Northmann and Thorin used to be an item. She loved him possessively. Rose wants him back and her brothers want a piece of Blackwell territory.
Rose masquerades as Meg a friend to Lola and tricks her into making a deal while intoxicated. Lola asked to see man as they really are. Thorin helps her with her last two wishes. This drags Lola into the Blackwell/Northmann Djinn feud. Can a human survive a djinn war?
Thorin and Lola come to realize that keeping your best friend in the just the friend category is difficult.
Lola is threatened by Adonis Northmann and Thorin rages. His rage is unlike any other, they all fear his rage and he is uncontrollable. How is this possible that he is so different than his three brothers?
Lola is hurt during these battles and makes a deal with Thorin. Will she save herself?
This is the third book in an excellent series. So far this one is my favorite. I am so invested in these characters. Each book is a page turner with many twists and turns. Find out about Thorin and why he is different than his brothers.
Ohh and what is going on with the oldest brother Mad? I am so ready to read the next book.
Four and a half stars. This is the third in the series of the Blackwell brothers who are Djinn. It is not necessary to have read the previous installments but it does enhance the reading. Lola is a strong young woman with some misconceptions about relationships. Thorin is a tortured djinn, still feeling guilt over something that happened over four centuries earlier. There are lots of little twists leading to a very interesting ending. The epilogue leads into the next story but doesn’t detract from the HEA. This is an excellent addition to the series. I am definitely looking forward to the next.
I received a free copy of this book through Tortoise House Press and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I loved, loved, loved this book. I loved Thorin and Lola, they were so well written, so compelling, and their backstories were heartbreaking. Yes, I got teary eyed. This book has surprises, twists, and great tension. Thorin is my favorite “”djinn” of the brothers so far. Great addition to the series!
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This book is just as good as the first two. Lola believes she wants nothing but friendship from Thorin, and he believes he deserves nothing more than friendship. Also in this story, the enemies of the Blackwell djinn show up. So many things happen in this book. A secret is revealed. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Thrilling end to a steamy, intriguing story…can’t wait for the next one!
Thorin Blackwell of the Blackwell djinns has lived centuries and importantly decades without a female relationship until Lola St. James. But they are ONLY friends who meet to run together, enjoy a meal together and have each other’s backs. Yeah, just friends… I LOVED this book. Both Thorin and Lola had privileged but unfortunate childhoods and make a super couple. She’s an artist trying to stay afloat financially, while Thorin is wealthy. Lola is determined to make it on her own because of her past and because she is stubborn.
Meg is a recent acquaintance and one of Lola’s more eclectic ones at that. But we get the feeling that there is more to Meg than what it appears. When Thorin meets Meg, he confirms our suspicions. Meg is from Thorin’s past and trying to come between Lola and him. Will she succeed? For a while anyway…Why does Thorin call himself a monster???
There is so much more that we find out about the Blackwells through this book and in particular about Thorin! Now, I’m waiting for Mad’s story of which we get a little hint at the end. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Tortoise House Press and it comes highly recommended for paranormal lovers. Love the cover but Thorin has long hair, so…
Wow! I am loving this series and I think One Mark is my favorite so far. I loved Thorin’s sensitive side and Lola’s feisty attitude. From the very beginning we had had hints of Thorin’s past and its nice to finally know what happened. I’m not usually a paranormal reader but this series is fantastic and I think it has a lot to do with Nikki Kardnov’s writing style. It’s so smooth and has a great flow. Very entertaining, steamy scenes, and excitement throughout the book. Great read!!!
Voluntary review of an ARC
Being friends with a djinn (genie) is not all plain sailing as Lola (FMC) finds out. They both decided ages ago that relationships are something that they arent interested in because of past difficult ones. So when an Ex of Thorin’s turns up she’s intent on causing problems for both of them. I loved both these characters. Lola is witty, funny and Lighthearted. While Thorin is sweet & caring as well as standoffish of letting anyone get to close to him especially women. A really lovely story about love, hurt, betrayal and friendship. Its a great read
First this series just gets better and better i got this book as a arc for a honest review thorin and lolos story gripped me from page one didnt stop tell the last page it was so well the plots the side characters it just went so well its a must read
Wonderful addition to the series
“One Mark” is a well-written, exciting tale filled with drama, bad guys, new characters and a revisit of previous characters. This is a fun read that continues the storyline from the previous book and takes it to a whole new level. The action was on point and kept me reading until the last page. Looking forward to the next addition in the “Blackwell Djinn” universe.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
Nikki Kardnov has written a 5-star book about Lola and Thorin. Lola and Thorin are friends and she knows that he is a Djinn. Things are fine with them until Rose and her brothers come around to cause trouble. Rose is someone from Thorin’s past and a Djinn, Rose is someone that Lola knows as Meg and believes that she is her friend. Rose is the cause of all of Thorin’s trouble from his past. Lola has just found out she is Thorin’s cacli and she wants answers from Rose about what happened to Thorin in 1644. Rose tells her that she had lied to Thorin to get him into a rage. Lola has to decide what to do with the information Rose just gave to her. Rose also tells her that she has known that Lola was Thorin’s cacli for 73 years and she was not going to let him be happy.
Can Lola get past the things that Thorin did in his past and stand with him as his cacli?
Will Thorin be able to get out of the trouble Rose and her family has caused him, will he be able to find out who he is?
This book was an intriguing read with a few twists and turns that will have you from the first page to the last page.
I would recommend this book to anyone.
I received an ARC copy for my voluntarily and honest review.
This is a well written book with a cast of strong colorful characters. The author brings Thorin,a Djinn and Lola together, gives them a strong chemistry and explosive passion and takes them on an adventurous journey. She brings the story to life with her vividly painted scenes and moves the story at a steady pace. There’s drama, magic and tons of action and is an entertaining read. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Best friends, Djinn magic and fate
One Mark (Blackwell Djinn Book Three) by Nikki Kardnov is a very well written book full of wonderful characters, magical beings, prophecies, fate and nefarious intentions.
Thorin, a Djinn who befriends Lola, is quite the tortured alpha. He’s also quite complex in that he also feels deeply. While he’s sworn off relationships of any kind, he is drawn to Lola. Lola has a similar outlook on relationships and is determined to maintain their friendship boundary at all costs. Well, fate has other plans for these two and that’s where the action is. Not only is there explosive chemistry between Lola and Thorin, but there’s way more to it than that.
I loved everything about this book! The characters especially, but also the plot, the connection between characters in previous books of this series within, the drama of the antagonist and the action that it creates. All of these elements makes for a wonderful reading experience that is a page turner.
Overall, a very well written book that provides the reader with magical excitement in a variety of ways throughout. The HEA is exceptional and quite revealing in preparation of Book 4! Can not wait!!
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
3.5
“The Divine Life” is book three in Nikki Kardov’s Blackwell Jinn series. Each book is a stand-alone with a HEA and a different set of main characters, though the books still have recurring characters. It’s recommended that before reading this book you read the Novella “Last Wish” (Red and Cassie) then “Midlife Wish” (Dae and Ashley) and That Psychic Life (Poe & Willa) first. This way you don’t miss out on all the goodness of the characters and their stories. This book follows Thorin Blackwell and Lola St. James.
This book had me going through a whole lot of emotions, I was happy, sad, frustrated, annoyed, swooned, angry, betrayed and shocked. I have loved this series, Dae has been and still is my favourite with now Thorin being a close second. Thorin is so misunderstood, he is loyal, protective and sweet. All he has ever wanted is to make up for a terrible event that happened in his past, and redeem himself to his family. But the betrayal he gets in this book was unforgivable!
I have to admit I did not like Lola, I know this is going to be a shock especially after meeting her in “Midlife Life” as Ashley’s bestie. She seemed so awesome, kicka** and fabulous, but actually getting to know her in this book has been a real disappointment. She was constantly jumping to conclusions, she wouldn’t listen and she thought she was always right. She got herself into so many situations that could have been avoided if she had listened to Thorin. Also what is up with the whole double standard of not liking lies but she help back on of the biggest secrets.
But the biggest shock in this book was Mad, what the hell Mad was up with you one treating Lola like scum and talking down to the family.
I’m sorry I’m not able to give this book a 4, I really wanted to for Thorin’s sake, but with the betrayal, lies, and drama from Lola I’m not able to. But it was still a fantastic read, the storyline was exceptional and the secrets revealed for Thorin were shocking and so fantastic at the same time.
Part of the Blackwell Djinn series a well written story that held my interest until the end. Thorin Blackwell and Lola St. James’ story with suspense, dram, danger, evil, villains, attempted murder, secrets, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing.
