A Little Christmas Pretense by Rachel A. Andersen is a wonderful story that I have read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series that I have loved reading. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about sweet, holiday and contemporary romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this story right from the beginning. Even though I’ve figured out the “pretense”, I loved the development of the story and the chemistry between the characters. This is a sweet, clean romance.
– Searing pain resonated in her skull as she climbed to a sitting position. “Let me see your eyes,” Richard said once she regained her equilibrium. She blinked several times as he looked at them. “Most guys buy me dinner before they ask to stare into my soul.” He released a chuckle. “Sense of humor’s intact. I hear that’s a good sign.”
This book was so good she takes a job that is below her skill level because she needs a job. She is very good at her job and she has been working her tail off. They meet the the chemistry is off the charts. I loved this book I wanted more of them
Of Love and Publishing
What a fun little holiday romance! I so appreciate that the author didn’t start with a major information dump but just brought us right into the story. Having worked for a bad boss, I could appreciate all that the heroine went through during most of the book. I absolutely adored the hero, although he had a few non-heroic moments that I didn’t quite understand until the book entirely played out. I loved his interactions with the heroine from the start; they are a sweet couple. He is gentlemanly, which I always like my hero to be, whether the novel is a historical romance or a contemporary one. There is a big secret—a pretense, as the title suggests—at the core of this book, but you will probably figure it out quicker than the heroine did. I do think there are a few confusing moments scattered throughout the book that weren’t resolved in the final reveal. But I found these characters and the storyline to be so endearing and charming that I’m okay with them. I felt like the book was excellent until the big office Christmas party, and then it seemed rushed, particularly the fallout after the big reveal at the office party. I did find the epilogue to be confusing as well, unfortunately, as it didn’t seem to really fit with the characters as they had been portrayed earlier in the book. That was a little disappointing. It looks like there is another book on the horizon for next Christmas that will at least include this book’s couple some degree if the preview given in this book is any example. I definitely felt like I needed more closure for this couple, probably because I just enjoyed them so much, and I wanted more. This is a fun contemporary romance that had me from the first page until the very end. I highly recommend it.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I really enjoyed reading this book, Richard and Cindy’s interactions and chemistry was nice. The storyline was wonderful, I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series to read more about them and also more about how Gillian & Peter’s story unfolds.
