‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through L.A., Allie Parker’s famous twin sisters were driving her cray. She fled to the mountains with a hostage in tow, hoping to sleep through the holidays, which were a shit-show. A crash in a blizzard, and a hot mountain man, definitely wasn’t part of her evacuation plan. Santas, and stockings, and creepy nutcrackers too, everywhere she looks, it’s a … creepy nutcrackers too,
everywhere she looks,
it’s a crazy Christmas zoo.
But there are hugs, and smiles,
and a beautiful view,
kisses and laughter,
and no time to be blue.
Maybe this family,
with their hot mountain man,
will make this a Christmas
Allie can actually stand.

OH EM GEE!!! I CAN’T EVEN EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS STORY!
Such a hilarious and adorable and sweet and christmassy romance.
I adored every little moment of Allie and Jason’s romance.
And Millie! Jeeez. Millie needs a spin-off – or just get her her own Netflix show asap. She’s so effing hilarious – I rolled off the couch laughing multiple times! If Netflix or Hallmark don’t grab this for next year – they’re insane!
Perfect Holiday Rom-Com!
This book was freaking adorable!
Funny and fun and adorable as all get out! I love how the story played out and ended!
Amy McFadden rocked the house down with her performance as well!
I love Tara Sivec books. I love the humor, I love the struggles and I love the happy ending. This book is no exception. Allie spent her childhood Christmas week with her dads family in West Virginia, but when her dad dies unexpectedly so does that tradition. Fast forward to her adult life, and she is the handler for her famous twin sisters. She finds herself coordinating last minute details for her sisters ridiculous Christmas Eve party, when their nagging, complaining, and just general terrible behavior causes her to walk away. She ends up booking a last minute flight to West Virginia with her socialite best friend, looking to recapture some of the holiday happiness she found as a child.
Between mishaps, driving in the snow, and accidentally eating an edible Allie finds herself at the bed and breakfast owned by the sweetest family she has ever met. Including the sexy Jason. As Christmas gets closer; Allie starts to remember why she loved this place and this time of the year so much.
Sometimes clichés are just what we need to remind us that happiness is possible and deserves. This book is unlike a lot of Tara’s usual books in that the steamy scenes were mentioned but not discussed in detail, but honestly this book is so full of Christmas cheer and sweet family togetherness, that you don’t even notice. This is the perfect Christmas story… even with hipster Santa onesies.
Christmas in West Virginia.
This was just what I needed to get me into the holiday spirit. It has been a tough year for everyone and I have struggled trying to find some Christmas cheer but taking this trip with Allie has made me want to watch some festive movies and listen to carols.
Allie has a mini meltdown in LA and escapes to the one place that brings her peace, West Virginia. It was where her dads family came from and they shared many happy Christmas’ with her granny years ago. Now she finds, not only a sexy mountain man, but a place that brings back all the joys of Christmas she was missing. Is it a cliche story…. well yeah it’s in the title but it’s also very endearing and loads for funny moments. Great pick me up book.
Loved it! Loved every single thing about this book. Tara Sivec continues to be one of my top favorite authors. She is a Rom-Com Queen. I love reading Christmas stories and this one I couldn’t put down.
Highly recommended.
This is what I am looking for when I settle in for a holiday read. THIS. Right here. All of the characters were likable but Millie? Millie was my favorite. I was actually laughing out loud and I needed that in my life. This book was well written and I really loved it. It was a play on so many high society people and I loved how humbled they were as they traveled to West Virginia. Oh, and Jason. Yup. That is my kind of holiday hero.
As usual, Tara Sivec has written an absolute rom-com delight that will leave you so thoroughly satisfied and happy. Christmas Cliche is a Hallmark Holiday Movie in audiobook form. Allie and Jason are an amazingly adorable couple, and they have an instant spark and chemistry that just can’t be denied. And, in true Christmas miracle/holiday rom-com form, they both help each other regain their Christmas spirit. There is a Nutcracker phobia, various holiday pajamas and movies, food emergencies, woodworking, etc. You name the holiday cliche, it was probably in this book. As for the narration, Amy McFadden did an amazing job capturing Allie’s earnestness, Jason’s slight grumpiness, and Millie’s confusion about how the real world works! It was a fun listen that had me smiling for hours.
I know Milly isn’t getting her own story and TBH an entire book of hers might drive me insane…she is the fabulous in this story. But she’s only one of many things to love with this one. It’s a total Hallmark Christmas movie done up right …Tara style. I say this because I have never watched one but if Tara wrote it I’d definitely be an addict.
Fun, swoon and total holiday madness in the best possible way! I adored this read!
I’m in love with Christmas Cliché. Tara Sivec brings a special Christmas magic with this one. You will laugh out loud with what Millie brings to the table. You will swoon over Jason and Allie as they go through finding their love of the holidays together. This book is just amazing and you need to read it before I give anything away. This over top Christmas read is one you don’t want to miss out on.
Brand new heartwarming and hilarious holiday read from Tara Sivec!
Small Town | Holiday Romance | Romantic Comedy
Christmas Cliché is a magical read and I devoured it from beginning to end. I have been a Tara Sivec fan for a while now BECAUSE of her winning romantic comedies and found this one to be just as amazing as her others. I mean, what’s better than a Christmas themed romcom this time of year? NOTHING. If you’re looking for a lighthearted book that will bring on the belly laughs, you won’t want to miss this one! It encompasses EVERYTHING Christmas and has some of the best type of characters I have come to love. Another thing that makes this book so fantastic is the amount of drama- or LACK of it. This book has some over the top moments but not in a dramatic and angsty sort of way. There’s NOTHING standing in the way of this beautiful love story and it was truly a breath of fresh air not having to deal with it.
That being said, if you enjoy the following you won’t want to skip this one:
Rugged Mountain Men with hearts of gold
Family traditions
Any and everything CHRISTMAS
Batshit crazy secondary characters (I asked Tara if she would write a book about Millie and she said NO. I think I’ll cry because she’s my favorite LMAO).
Books about finding oneself in the most unexpected ways
Hallmark Christmas movies
Happily Ever Afters
Romantic Comedies that have you rolling on the floor laughing
Tara’s Chocolate Lovers series
A fabulous new holiday release from Tara Sivec!
Oh. My. Goodness. If you’re into holiday traditions and lots of snark then this is definitely the book for you!!! Tara Sivec has a way of writing her characters that is so over-the-top hilarious they actually make me snort. The circumstances of this book are totally believable, but it’s the characters that make them work so well and seem ridiculous. I’m afraid I may be disappointed in my other Christmas reads this season. If you’re looking for a sweet, hilariously funny Christmas story that will stick with you long after you finish the last page you should really check Christmas Cliché out!
Sweet and swoony. Super fun and funny. Entertaining from start to finish.
-4.5 Stars!-
I’ve never seen a Hallmark movie, well not on purpose, and CHRISTMAS CLICHE is everything and more than I could have hoped for.
It is charming and funny and magical and so so cliche that it is just the perfect read. I read it in one sitting and it kept me entertained from beginning to end.
There are so many things I highlighted while reading that these are just a few of the gems…
“I’m not the Twats of Terror…”
“If Christmas magic has anything to do with this, someone needs to dump that shit all over…”
“family doesn’t always have to be blood.”
Fun, funny, and fabulous! I absolutely recommend this story.
I loved “Christmas Cliche” so much. I haven’t laughed so hard while reading a book in ages! The characters were wildly entertaining and tremendously likeable, the romance was sweet, and the over-the-top Christmas theme was a lot of fun.
The book’s main character, Allie Parker, was wonderfully snarky but kind, friendly, and down to Earth at the same time. It’s hard to imagine how Allie and her younger sisters grew up in the same family but turned out so differently. I guess Allie was lucky to be several years older than the twins, Tori and Zoey, and have extra time under her father’s influence before he passed away.
Allie’s love interest, Jason, seemed like a great guy and perfect match for Allie. He was a hard worker who really loved his job, but also loved his family even when they were driving him crazy. And they were very good at driving him crazy! His parents delighted in trying to “help” him win Allie’s affections, even going so far as to tell Allie that Jason had “no game” and begging her to go out with him anyway. It seemed to me like Jason was doing just fine on his own in pursuing Allie, but his family’s antics were very amusing, and it was sweet how quickly they embraced Allie and made her feel at home.
The secondary characters in this book, especially Allie’s best friend, Millie, added a tremendous amount of depth to the narrative. Millie was so out of touch with reality, and it should have been sad or annoying or offensive or something, but instead, it was incredibly endearing. Millie was so sweet and supportive of Allie, not to mention spot on in both her assessment of the twins and Allie’s need to get a life of her own. One of my favorite parts of this book was Millie’s (scarily accurate) mishmash of various Hallmark Channel Christmas movie plots. I also loved when she turned Jason’s dad into Fashion Santa. I laughed so hard I was crying just imagining his outfit!
Finally, I have to note that, as far as I’m concerned, small children swearing will never NOT be funny, so I found Jen’s daughter Maddy, with her “new and improved” name for nutcrackers and her names for the cats, to be completely hilarous. Maddy reminded me a bit of young Gavin in Sivec’s earlier book, “Seduction and Snacks.”
Overall, I really can’t recommend this book highly enough. It is both hilarious and heartwarming, and will certainly put readers in the Christmas spirit.
(P.S. My opinion? “Die Hard” is totally a Christmas movie. I realize that this is a controversial statement, but I’m going with it.)
Brand new heartwarming and hilarious holiday read from Tara Sivec!
Brand new heartwarming and hilarious holiday read from Tara Sivec!
This was a cute quick and funny read. I absolutely loved the main characters and the secondary as well. We’ve got Allie who has pretty much put her whole life on hold to cater to her sisters and their life and show in California. She hasn’t had a good Christmas since her father passed away. She finally gets fed up and runs away from her responsibilities. Dragging along her best friend who in all accounts probably shouldn’t be friends because Millie is a spoiled high maintenance brat but she is absolutely awesome and they just seem to work as best friends. She has always told Allie that she needs her own life and jumps at the opportunity to watch this unfold. There is a lot of banter and funny scenes throughout this book.
Allie unexpectedly meets Jason. Who is super grumpy and a grinch at first. But they eventually start spending time together and their chemistry is hot. They have a slow burn relationship, Allie doesn’t really want to start something when she knows she needs to figure out her life and doesn’t live in West Virginia. But their chemistry is undeniable and are super cute together.
There were definitely some Tara worthy ridiculous scenes that I absolutely loved.
