Excellent book. Lots of real-life, heavy issues here that required a light and careful hand from the author and she nailed it. Life and love are rarely easy for anyone but it IS possible to triumph. Can Pax and Cilla overcome major mistakes that caused a disastrous ending to their relationship? See what love and honesty can do!
AFter the accident six years ago, Cillia is been living in anger stuck in her wheelchair. Paxton, the love of her live, leave her behind and went to college and now is a famous football player. But they aren’t happy. They are still in love but the anger, the guilt doesn’t allow them to live their love. Can they work together for a week in a charity event and find forgiveness, happiness and love again?
Good clean romance.
Forgiving the Football Player is Emma St. Clair’s newest book. This is a very poignant story about two people that must live with the consequences of some foolish decisions that they made as teenagers. The title implies that that the football player is at fault and needs to be forgiven. However, readers learn that it story is more complex than a just a football player that needs forgiveness. The story is very good and tugs at the reader’s heart. The characters are very “human” and relatable. Since this is an Emma St. Clair book, Forgiving the Football Player is well written, “clean” fiction with a HEA ending. I’ve read all of Ms. St. Clair’s and this one does not disappoint.
Powerful. Intense. Emotional. The story of Cilla and Paxton (Pax) in Emma St. Clair’s Forgiving the Football Player (Not So Bad Boys, Book 2) is all that. This is much more the “Not So Bad” romance than a true “Bad Boy” romance. More sweet than harsh, and (much) more “ real” than anticipated – but still a total pleasure to read and the HEA that’s needed. Highly recommended.
Forgiving the Football Player is an intense, emotional, journey. Pax has been punishing himself for six years while Cilla has continued to love him. They both need a lot of work on their emotional journeys. I really enjoyed reading this book, but it was intense. The book is well written. The characters are charismatic. If you love clean romance, you should enjoy this book.
This story proved that second chances are not always easy. The two main characters have a lot of baggage, six years worth to work through. I liked the depth of the characters in this story and how this story revolved around both sides of the accident that happened six years ago that changed both Pax and Allie and not in very good ways. It is amazing how guilt can turn your heart cold and how the guilt can destroy your life and your career if you let it. This book also made me think about what Cillia had been through and how people had treated her and things that had been said heartlessly to her or behind her back. It was nice to see that her wheelchair did not define her and what she could do. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
– This book is a great story about a football player who learns a life lesson in charity. Pax has to go back home and do some charity work in a charity that he set up but has not been involved with. He finds out that he has to work with his first love who wants nothing to do with him. There are several twists, turns and surprises as they work through their problems. There are great characters that help keep the pages turning. Cilla was in a wheel chair that he felt was his fault and that he kept punishing himself for. The story gives some real life examples of problem suffered in a wheel chair. It takes them some time and self searching but they finally find a happy ending.
This story has Cilla experiencing a big tragedy & her anger issues but still going on with life, being an independent woman & very strong willed. Paxton has his issues of guilt & shutting people out because of that guilt. They both need to forgive in order for their relationship to survive. I well written story for all to learn from. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary, honest review.
Atonement
Pax left Cilla when she needed him the most. After they were in a car crash that left her in a wheelchair. He completely ghosted on her that day. I had a super hard time with this behavior.
Now he’s reluctantly back in Katy. Tatted, angry and fighting.
Meanwhile, Cilla is firmly in her wheelchair.
I liked that she had turmoil over her feelings.
Can Pax atone for all his failings and failures?
Recommend.
I love reading second chance books and this one is definitely about that but it also involves a terrible accident that leaves one of them wheelchair bound. Can they both work through the past and their pain to start a new life together. This is an emotional story that could make you smile, laugh, cry and shout for happiness that they might find. I had an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Emma did a great job with this book. I liked that it addressed problems of handicapped people, their feelings and struggles. Her characters were well developed and faced real problems. I would recommend this book and am waiting for the next book.
I loved this story. Forgiveness is hard especially when it is yourself you have to forgive. Pax and Cilla both are dealing with misplaced guilt and anger over the same incident 9 years previous when they were both teenagers. I love that Emma St Clair put so many hints of how to interact with people with disabilities. Until Cilla and Pax turn their anger and hurt over to God for help in forgiveness, they are unable to trust each other. I recommend this book.
Pax had been in love with Cilla for most of his life but six years ago, something tragic had happened and he had left. He had felt guilt for his part in destroying Cilla’s life and because of that, he had not returned. He still loved her with everything he had but he wasn’t good for her and she was better off without him. But, now his career was in trouble and he was forced to return home to drum up some good PR. He had a charity that he funded called Wheels Up for wheelchair bound individuals who needed help and support. He had always been hands off with the charity but now he needed get down in the trenches and help out. Little did he know, Cilla now worked for his charity and he would be seeing her for the first time in six years.
Cilla had loved Pax for what seemed like forever but she was angry. She was angry because he had left her at her lowest point and had never returned or responded to her. She was angry because she didn’t have the use of her legs. She was angry that her dad had told Pax to leave and never come back. She was just plain angry about everything and it was destroying her from the inside. She didn’t want to see Pax, even though she really did. She didn’t want to see the guilt or the pity that she was sure would be reflected in his eyes. She loved her work with Wheels Up and wanted to make the upcoming event a success. But, could she survive working so closely with Pax?
I really loved this story. It was painful to read how broken Cilla and Pax were and how difficult it was to see how much they still loved each other but the forgiveness and love was a winner. I really liked that the story seemed real and raw but was clean and without foul language and graphic intimate details. Definitely a keeper in my book.
I was given an arc of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
This is a good story, sad and emotional. I absolutely love Paxton, he has issues but he is sweet and deserves some unconditional love in his life. I understand why he chooses the Priscilla from before the accident. I think Priscilla needs love in her life too but she comes across as bitter and even mean. I do feel sorry for her, she just seems to be too in love with misery and spreading that instead of love. I really didn’t like her, I think she has a good heart but wasn’t convinced that she was ready for a happy ever after with Paxton. I do love this author’s books, the writing style was a bit different this time, the plot is deep, I personally just prefer romance/forgiveness with more happy moments blended in. I received a free copy with obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.
