What do you do when a Red Demon comes crashing through your door???
Unannounced Roommate is another of the fun and interesting books in the Marnak series by Layla Stone. This time it is about Ganne, a retired Federation Commander, who has decide to live on Marnak instead of going back to his home planet of Yunkin. He rents an apartment from Gaff and just wants to be left alone. He is haunted by his memories, basically PTSD.
Cadee is a Red Demon who is a professional pinmon player. On the first night that Ganne is in his new apartment she literally comes crashing through his door drunk and not realizing it is not her place. Thus begins their story as they get to know each other and begin a relationship in which they each begin to heal.
I really loved the relationship between the characters, even the supporting characters were interesting. The story-line was engaging and overall this was a really nice novella.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
What an amazing book. Very well written. I could not put it down.
Gann is a Yunkin commander with trauma after something happened on his ship. He moved into a Demon run apartment building to live with his guilt. Cadee is a red demon who breaks into his apartment. Her aunt is a psychopath…..

This is a great read with steam for when you only have 90 minutes to read and want to finish the entire book. This reads as a standalone and is really engaging especially with the characters.
I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.
Book four of the Marnak Series a well written short story. Cadee, is a red demon and Ganne is a Yunkin and retiring Federation officer their story has suspense, drama, danger, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really like this series of novellas. Every one is different and loaded with great heros and heroines.
This time the heroine, Cadee, is a red demon and she is a real character. Ganne, our hero, is a Yunkin and retiring Federation officer who chooses to live on Marnak instead of his home planet. These two are exactly what each other needs to mend their wounded hearts.
Cadee’s life is a real mess and dangerous too. She has a big heart and is willing to sacrifice to protect a vulnerable family member. Ganne is pulled into her world by moving in next door. It is probably the best thing that could have happened to him.
I really liked the story telling and how the author is always able to surprise me with her well written characters.
Ganne, a Yunkin retired Federation Commander, was persistent about getting a room despite the Night Demon Gaff’s many questions. This demon was smarter than most he had dealt with. But eventually, Gaff gave him the contract for his room. Ganne was retired, but his bad memories gave him no peace — images flashed in his mind of terrified faces twisted in agony, begging for help. Here he could at least be left alone. He had been sitting in the same spot for an hour since Gaff left, no compelling reason to move. Then someone banged on the door and tried to use the keypad. The door crashed open and a Red Demon stumbled in.
Cadee a Red Demon professional pinmon player, obviously drunk, called Naff on her Minky to yell at him for not fixing her door right. He insisted he had. While she screamed at him, she took of her boots, pulled her dress over her head, and walked naked into the kitchen while Ganne sat at the table and watched her. When he finally spoke and she saw him there, he gallantly put his Federation jacket on her while they talked. She explained she had lost some hands in the pinmon game, along with the undergarments she had bet to distract the casino owner’s son. Ganne walked her back to her room then left her.
Through the walls, she heard him listen to something then his voice urgently said for everyone to stay and not leave. What was going on? His voice was distressed. Curious, she went to his room next door to hers. She went inside and saw he was having a nightmare. She approached and he grabbed her, saying to stay, and seemed surprised when she said she was staying. He held onto her and fell asleep. She sneaked out in the morning without waking him.
When Gaff stood outside her room scowling because of the damage she had done, Ganne stepped out. Cadee used her seduction skills on him so he wouldn’t complain… but they didn’t work! She followed him to the elevator and tried again – but still no luck! He just wanted to be alone! But her demon side could not let him ignore her.
She went to her aunt’s house to take food to the two-year-old boy she thought was her aunt’s son – her aunt had actually claimed him as a demon debt owed. When the Yunkin officers heard the aunt had abused him, they locked her up and took Cadee home. But when she couldn’t remember her room code, Ganne entered it, having heard her argument with Gaff about wanting 0000 and not 9999. Ganne went in and picked up his Federation jacket and the difficult time they had started to give him ended as they noticed his rank.
When Cadee returned from her card game, she once again entered her code and it failed. She tried again and it opened, so she undressed – and Ganne passed her his t-shirt to wear! He told her he had opened the door. Then he got into bed and held the covers back for her. The look in his eyes wasn’t lust… but was more like a starving man who just found a feast. What was happening between them? And why did this time with him feel like the best day of her life?
This was a surprisingly cute story! Both of the characters had their issues, yet each had goodness inside that made the reader hope they could find peace and acceptance in each other. It looked like maybe they were beginning to find it. Grab your copy and see!
I enjoyed the storyline. It moved quickly and had several crises, big and small. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I felt a little lost. I was fully engaged by the characters in this storyline, but the overarching story was missing. Had I read the previous book I would have rated this 5 stars.

This is a short story about Ganne a Yunkin retired Federation Commander and Cadee a Red Demon professional pinmon player. This is a standalone full story read no cliffhangers and HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ganne moves into one of Naff’s apartments after retiring. Cadee can’t remember which apartment is hers or her door code. Her nephew is in danger, and she games for money to keep him safe. This is one of Layla Stone’s slice of life quick reads, and they really round out the worlds she is building block by block. Enjoy!
