“The best feel-good romcom you need right now.” (Natasha, Goodreads reviewer)Disaster queen meets broody alphaHello, my name is Willa, and I’m a walking, talking cupcake eating disaster. Need to accidentally get arrested? Just ask me how, I’ve been there. Want to know how to send the most embarrassing text messages to your crush? You guessed it, I’m your woman. But what I do best? Bail my dad out … woman.
But what I do best? Bail my dad out of jail. And apparently pay off his debts. Which is how I find myself working for Jameson Drake, aka hot boss, who takes broody alpha to the next level.
I wish that was where the mess that was my life ended. But I seemed to have caught pesky feelings. And I simply can’t fall for Jameson.
Only it might be too late.
If you like hilarious, heartwarming novels with a quirky heroine then you’ll love this laugh out loud romantic comedy. This is the first book in the Sweet Dreams Series and can be read as a standalone.
Note from the author: In order not to get kicked out of the good (okay goodish…. fine, sometimes good) girls club, I’d like to point out that this is a steamy romcom and my characters use bad language (sometimes) and like to get it on (a lot). There’s no cheating and all my books have a HEA.

Audio review
This is a good romance with some fun humorous situations. Willa and Jameson’s romance is fraught by Willa’s lack of self belief, but Jameson’s determination is bigger than that! I did find it difficult to come to terms with Willa’s uncomplaining devotion to her father and this was a stumbling block fie me. Ava Erickson is excellent and narrates with variety of tone, warmth and conviction.
This was my first Sarah Peis’s book. This is the first book in the Sweet Dreams Series, a Romantic Comedy. I like the cover. I loved Willa and Jameson’s story. They are both great characters. I loved to follow them in their journey to love. The story is sweet, funny., and heartwarming. I enjoyed it. Ava Erickson did an amazing job with the narration. She definitely is one of my favorite narrators. Looking forward to listening to the next book in the Series. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
My first Sarah Peis book and I enjoyed it. It’s a quick and easy read that had me laughing. Granted, Willa should have walked away from the situation her father always put her in, but he’s family, and I can understand why she had a difficult time; this was the only piece of the story that drove me nuts but overall,,, I liked it. Ava Erickson is such a great narrator, and I love her comedic timing.
“You’re under arrest….” could things get any worse? Of course, they can! It’s not her fault that her bike crashed into Officer Ray as he insisted on being called. It’s not like he didn’t copy her work all through high school, but whatever… And then he yells ‘gun’ to his partner and the next thing she knows she is on the ground being handcuffed. Except it is not a gun, it’s a bright pink dildo. Here’s how it all began.
She is out clubbing with her best friend’s Mazie and Stella when they notice Mr. Tall Dark and Broody watching her. Jamison Drake is known for his conquests and Willa is surprised to have drawn his attention. As she is getting in her car after leaving the club she finds that Jamison has followed her. She is surprised that he knows her name, but her thoughts that he was interested in her come to a screeching halt and she lets him have it.
Jamison has just informed her that her father owes him money and put her as his alternate which meant that she now owed the debt and he was giving her 24 hours to pay up. Twenty-four hours…for $20,000! She is furious! Her dad is a drunken gambler who has lost everything and now he drags her into his mess.
Besides attending college Willa has two jobs so she can pay her dad’s bills on top of her own. She has a total of $4 in her account which has to last until her next paycheck. Jamison is crazy if he thinks she can come up with anything to pay off her father’s debt. When he shows up the next day and she again explains that she isn’t responsible for her dad’s money problems, Jamison totally ignores her and tells her she will be paying off the debt. She will be working at his garage over the summer and her salary would go against what was owed.
Just what she needed…to spend the summer getting lost in Jamison’s gorgeous eyes. The man was a walking dream….that was until he opened his mouth! Did the man even know how to smile?
I loved this book! It is hilarious from page one. Willa lives in a small town where everyone knows everyone and their business. Which is unfortunate because she is well-known by the police who call her almost nightly to come pick up her dad.
The book is very well written and the characters are very relatable. Willa is funny and sarcastic and Jamison is moody and hides the real reason he wants her working in his garage. Willa can’t seem to keep out of embarrassing situations and I died laughing. Willa’s dad on the other hand needs a huge intervention – he is so drunk and clueless as to what he is doing to Willa.
I am reviewing this book from an audio standpoint and Ava Erickson is spot on with her delivery. Highly recommend!
Some Call It Love
Sweet Dreams, Book 1
By: Sarah Peis
Narrated by: Ava Erickson
Some Call it Love. I definitely do. Willa finds herself in a predicament. Her alcoholic, gambling father is constantly calling her with the need to bail him out of his latest quandary. Now she finds herself having to work off his debt to the handsome Jameson. This is her third job, but she loves her dad and will do what she has to. When she is again called to help him, the alpha protective, broody Jameson will not let her go alone. And now the feelings she is trying to push down and the chemistry she does not want to feel is bubbling over. What will it take to help her dad and keep her heart safe? While this is tagged as a romcom, I found it more of a contemporary romance. I loved Willa’s loyalty to her dad, but became frustrated at times with her. Jameson came on a little strong, but when his story is told, it’s impossible not to fall for him. And the explosive chemistry between these two is off the charts. Quirky side characters make for some fun banter and the story is an easy listen. I will be checking out more of Sarah Peis!
Ava Erickson is always a joy to hear. Her easy pace and wonderful voices enhance the book. Each voice for each character building personalities and create a clear picture. It’s a great listen!

3 star review Some Call It Love (Sweet Dreams #1) by Sarah Peis
AUDIO REVIEW:
Sarah Peis is a new author to me. I’m in two minds with this book. There were parts that I really enjoyed and others I found hard to read.
My heart broke for Willa and the circumstances she finds herself in through no fault of her own. Her father is a real piece of work and although I felt sorry for him there were times I really disliked him. I’m also in two minds about Jameson Drake, he obviously had feelings for Willa but the way he expressed them is what I question. When Jameson calls in her father’s debt by insisting Willa work the debt off at the garage I wasn’t overly impressed with his behaviour.
I had a hard time understanding how Willa could let Jameson walk all over her, I know she had a crush on him but she let him get away with atrocious behaviour at times which frustrated me a great deal.
It is obvious that there is an attraction that sizzles between Jameson and Willa but I cannot help but question the foundation it was built on. The narration was very good, pleasant, easy to listen to with characters that I admit I had a hard time relating to.
I have received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. I did not make it through the first chapter, because of the foul langue.
I haven’t laughed so much in a long time!
Willa takes care of her father, an alcoholic. This time he went too far. He owes a huge debt to Jameson, a guy she has a crush on, and she is supposed to work it off.
He is rough and broody, but there is a lot of chemistry between them and in the end, he is the one who saves her.
It’s light and fluffy and while I like the story, there were few elements that were like WTF. 🙂
Characters were likable and well depicted. Quite a few laugh-out-loud scenes. You’ll not only love this funny, easy to read romp but want to pass it on to others. Adding her to my “favorite author” list.
I enjoyed this book.
