It’s been a long time since a book has captivated me the way this book did. The characters were lovable and the book flowed from beginning to end. It was a great read and I would highly recommend it.

I really don’t know where to start, thus book I’d very good l. It’s funny, tragic, romantic, steamy, sweet and a page turner. I love how down to earth Garrett is and that it intrigues Camille so much. I also, love how their so much alike and yet they can’t express their love for each other with words. I must say at times I feel they were sending mind signals to each that were getting lost in translation. Above all I love Donovan for his role in his brothers’ ever after.

This was the first book in the Monroe Series and starts the series off with a bang. It definitely captured my attention in the beginning and kept it. Garrett and Camille’s story is an emotional and steamy one. Hie had his brother Donovan to thank for helping him get his grove back. Devastated by his divorce and his cheating wife who was pregnant with someone else’s baby he was a little down. When he brother suggested he needed to sleep with a woman to get his groove back, he suggested a ‘trade’ with his PA. He’s pay for her surgery and after care in exchange for one weekend together. As she recovers from surgery as his home, things tend to heat up between them. They seem to communicate more telepathically. The book is well written, easy to read and hard to put down. Steamy and overflowing with explosive chemistry.
What will happen when their deal is completed?
The Trade is the first book in the new The Monroe series by Emma Tharp. All I can say is if the rest of the books in the series are like this then my Kindle is going to be smoking so much it will ignite.
The story of Camille and Garrett is interesting and well developed, along with the characters. I will say I wanted to kick Garrett in the azz multiple times but by the end he had redeemed himself. Camille is a lovely young woman who works for Garrett as his PA. He definitely does not pay her enough nor does he provide health care, which I think he should. Garrett is newly divorced from Adriana, who we get a little bit of. When Camille has a health scare and needs surgery and that is when Garrett thinks up his offer…………..one weekend with Camille with no limits and she will receive $100 Grand. She agrees and Garrett pays for the surgery and her after care while she stays at his house. They end up spending more time together and he gets to know her more as a friend and not just an employee. They share and begin to feel more for each other. They then spend a very hot and lust filled weekend on a private beach which just shows how much of a match they actually are. But will they be able to go back to the office and pretend like nothing happened? Or will their feelings be too strong and they will have to make a decision about if they have a future together?
I enjoyed reading this novella and look forward to the next in the series.

Quick read. Garrett needs a rebound after a nasty divorce. His confidence and manhood took a hit. Camille needs surgery but lacks the funds. A trade off – money for a weekend spent together. Garrett stumbles and fumbles his way to Camille’s heart. Slack of communication almost cost these two their HEA.

What a sensationally heartwarming and passionate office romance from Emma Tharp. Camille is a financially down on her luck personal assistant with medical problems and no solutions. Garrett is a recently divorced CEO with a hidden heart of gold. The Trade is a well written story with wonderful characters. A captivating and sweet instant love story filled with heartache, misunderstandings, family, passion, an office romance, and love. I really loved this book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This is book one in The Monroe series. First off, I have to say, I love the cover! If the cover does not get your attention the book blurb will. What is a girl to do…..your boss proposes an idea that works for both of you, sorta. You get the money you need for medical expenses and he gets a weekend to get now that the ink is just dry on his divorce papers. This is Camille and Garrett’s story, how professionalism crosses the line into personal. Once that line is crossed, can it be ignored? What happens when a weekend is not enough? What the impact of communication breakdown can cause? This was a well written short story that captivated me from the beginning. I sat down and read the whole thing. I cannot wait for more of this series. Enjoy!

Garrett’s divorce is final. He’s not interested in a relationship, but his brother insists that he needs to get laid. His PA, Camille, has a cyst that might be cancerous. She needs money for surgery, and Garrett offers a trade – $100,000 for a weekend with him. She feels like she has no other choice, and accepts his offer. He pays for the surgery, and insists that she recuperate at his home. They spend lots of time together, and she stays there even after she goes back to work. And then “The Weekend” comes. What happens if one of them wants more? This is the hottest, steamiest story I’ve read in a while, and I couldn’t put it down once I started. Garrett and Camille just sizzle together. This is a quick book to read, and a departure from some of the author’s previous works.

This is my first book I’ve read of Ms Tharp and I have to say she didn’t disappoint. I love office romances. Garrett and Camille having a tight working relationship that led to friendship then love was wonderful. Camille’s health scare showed Garrett’s caring nature. That little agreement they had involving money was the major issue. I feel I know why Garrett offered he just wanted to hold on to Camille the best way he knows how and Camille accepts the deal mainly her need but I knew her heart wasn’t in it. Their weekend on the private beach together was HOT and showed how compatible they were together. Coming back from that lust-filled weekend I knew it was going to be issues and I was so surprised that Camille took the initiative to fight for what she wanted…Garrett. I would have loved if the epilogue had a little more story of the couple’s HEA but it was great how Ms. Tharp sets up the next book with Garrett’s brother Donovan. I can’t wait to read the established playboy’s story next. It will be great reading his love story:)

Camille works as Garrett’s PA. When he decides to take his brother’s advice he can’t help but look at Camille differently from just his PA. That’s when something inside him changes.
When he discovers what she’s been hiding it takes him by surprise.
Will she let him help? Sad but full of hope for what the future holds.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this much, but I loved it. Garrett was so vulnerable after his wife cheated on him. Not only cheated on him, but ended up pregnant with the guy she cheated with. Now that Garrett is divorced, his brother Donovan thinks he needs to get out there and start “dating”. In the meantime, Camille needs surgery and has no way to pay for it. Garrett finds out and ends up offering to pay for her surgery in exchange for spending a weekend with him. They end up spending more time than that together, but you have to read the book to find out why ;). I really enjoyed the story and am definitely going to ready more Emma Tharp books! I also hope Donovan gets his own story :).

An Example of How Communication is Sooooo Important!
A not too pleasant boss, Garrett, has pretty much ignored his PA, Camille, for the two years she’s been working for him until his brother, Donovan tells him how beautiful she is and Camille tells him she needs surgery but be able to have until she pays the doctor and her car is in for repairs. While she sits across from Garrett he begins to have thoughts of trading money for her time. Then to take care of her. What’s troubling is his blasé attitude when she talks about how little she makes being his PA and not having a raise. When he takes to her apartment to pick up her stuff he looks around her tiny studio apartment in a disinterested manner. Grrrr.
However, over time Garrett’s attitude shifted toward Camille and they became close during her six week recovery period and ever closer over the weekend at his island. Then, mixed signals occurred and tears were shed. How are they going to rectify this?
This was a fast read that held my interest. As I said previously, Garrett ran hot and cold for me. His internal dialogue saved him for me then as his relationship with Camille became more complex, his internal and external joined. Camille suffered through the same issues. So there was some unnecessary angst.
I’m wholeheartedly recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. Peace.

Garrett and Camille have cheating ex’s in common. When Donovan suggest that Garrett gets back into the saddle after his divorce with his PA he thought he was crazy. That is until he really looked at his PA. Camille has a lot on her plate and her illness was something she didn’t want to deal with at this point so when her doctor told her she needed an operation, she had no idea if her insurance would cover it or not. When Garrett offers her a solution to her problems, will she be able to grasp it or will it lead to even bigger problems for the both of them? This story will definitely have you captivated until the last page.
