Lucie and Chris are back … fabulous sequel … i love a good zombie apocalypse
This book was a great read. Normally I stray away from books that are soley about zombies. I’m so glad I took a chance on this book. N.M. Black nailed it. Her ideas on zombies, half breeds and the collapse they lead to was new and refreshing to me. Definitely a book I would recommend for a short pallet cleansing read, or just a fun weekend read with a blanket and some coffee.
This is my first time reading a book about zombie, and I admit that the author blew me away with her book !!
I really like the world she has created, and her characters are really strong and appealing.
I need to read book 1, because I want to know more about Adira and Lochlan, but I really like Lucie and the duo she has with Bea, together, they are explosives and badass !!
Now we also have Christopher, he’s hot, alpha male, but he’s also an asshole !! and he doesn’t know how to act perfectly with Lucie, it seems that each time he try to make an effort he screwed up everything, which is kind of funny too !!
Wow this is a never ending, page turning book of greatness. Not only do we have some really great characters, but we also have a setting which is disturbing to say the least. I don’t normally read zombie novels but I just couldn’t pass up this opportunity when I read the blurb. Dark Horizon is the second book in the Pandorum series which looks at the characters of Lucie and Chris. Lucie is alternative and doing what she must to survive after having survived a pretty hard childhood. She is attracted to Chris, but he sees the age difference as something huge. It is only when Lucie is trying to survive that Chris steps up to the plate.
There is a lot of action in this book and it kind of sneaks up on you and then attacks. I really liked the twist with what was happening with Lucie as well as her relationship with the butt kicking Bea. This is not a romance, but there are elements of it when Chris and Lucie are developing their relationship and man is it hot. Chris can also sometimes come across as really arrogant, and if we didn’t have his POV in the story I could totally see why people would think that. I think the bottom lines when it comes to how Chris feels about Lucie is that he is scared to lose her so he continues to push her away. The development of the characters is really good and it will be interesting to see what is in store for not only these two characters but the rest of them in this novella.
If you like zombies, post-apocalyptic, unapologetic characters then this is the book for you!
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

Intense and very Thrilling!!
This is a fantastic, intense and very thrilling zombie/apocalypse story with lots of action, suspense, intrigue, murder and mayhem. There is also an intense and steamy love story interwoven with all of the mayhem. The story kept me on the edge of my seat, highly entertained and so utterly captivated.
Lucie is one badass woman, who won’t let anything set her back. Her new situation may only keep her down for a short period of time but when she comes back – she comes back swinging! Chris is a grumpy, growly, overprotective male, who has some anxiety issues and the only person who seems to calm him is Lucie. Their connection felt very real and incredibly intense. The heated power play and fierce pull between these two characters drove me crazy with the need for them to finally figure things out. Once they did WOW!!!
Favorite Quote: “She’s my light, my sunshine, my horizon in the darkness that is now our miserable existence and I’m not sure I can survive without her.” These were such beautiful words spoken by Chris.
Amazing writing and world building. I can’t wait for the next story in this series.
Dark Horizon is the second installment in the this series. You can read it as a standalone, but it will be more enjoyable if you read the first book, Pandorum, beforehand. I loved this book from beginning to end. I have always enjoyed Dystopian books, but Dark Horizon kicks it up a notch. Chris and Lucie, the 2 main characters, make for some excellent sizzle and there are some great side characters, Bea, Dante, and later on, Rowan, that add extra dimension and fun to the story. If you enjoy reading something different, like PNR, Action, Zombies, Kick-ass Heroines, or Dystopian, with some Romance, this is your book! I loved the vivid detail and the original plot, as well. The story moves at a fast pace and I only wish it were longer! I can not wait to read book 3. 5 Action Packed Stars!
Chris and Lucie are hot in this action packed zombie story. If you’re a fan of Resident Evil, The Walking Dead and romance, you will enjoy this book. It’s the perfect mix of action, complex relationships, redefining humanity, steamy scenes and love.
The Lucie and Chris (along with the secondary characters) are well developed and thoughtout. They have reasons and purpose, while still having doubts and fears. I loved how real they felt and how, at times, their emotions lead them. Bea just might be one if my favorite characters ever. I really want to be her in a few years, lol.
The action is pulse racing and I found myself holding my breathe a few times. I loved the world this author created. It’s real but also completely strange. I can see how barren and scary life has become for these people.
The romance was a nice addition to the story, steamy and thoughtful. I liked the balance.
There is a previous story in this series called Pandorum. It is not necessary to have read that first, this is a standalone but I do encourage you to read it. It’s what hooked me on this series and this author; and ultimately lead my to my current stalking problem, LOL. I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
