After reading a few books by Ms. Aarsen, one starts to know what things one can expect when opening a new one, and, among other things, it’s a strong community or family ties, a sweet (clean) romance, wonderful characters, and some nuggets of wisdom and Truth, as well as reminders of God’s grace and love.
This book was no exception. I loved the feeling of coming home with the community in Rockyview, and I loved revisiting with characters from the previous books in this series. Now, even though it’s been a while since I read them, the author did a wonderful job of summarizing past events (granted, I still couldn’t fully remember all the family dynamics, but that’s on me, not the author). I loved getting to read about Naomi and Jess’s story and the pace at which the author introduced past events was just perfect . I loved this second chance romance, and how they had to start dealing with their past and shared history after they’re forced to work together. I loved seeing them both in action, Jess with the construction of his house, and Naomi as both a nurse and a stained glass artist.
The descriptions in this book were fantastic and they transported me to the setting. I could pretty much feel the air on my skin and smell the woods when the main characters went for a hike (the author definitely made me miss the mountains!). Also, the second characters just added another layer to the story, and I enjoyed seeing all the interactions and decisions that resulted from their part in the story. Finally, I loved the reminders of God’s grace and love, and how we are to forgive others, even though it may seem (or be!) difficult at the time – I definitely needed that reminder!
Overall, another great clean contemporary romance from Carolyne Aarsen, and the perfect conclusion to this series. Completely recommended and I can’t wait to dive into the next book/series!! ~ 5 stars
I’m so pleased to have found Carolyn and have enjoyed so many of her books. I especially love that these stories happen in Alberta. Wonderful!!
Such an inspirational book- I found it hard to put down
I loved this story. Rachel had been thru so much and seeing her finally come back home and be forced to face her past was inspiring. I did fuss at Jess was getting upset over a decision Rachel made as a young teenage girl. I really wanted to smack some since in him. If you like clean inspirational stories, I highly recommend Finding Home.
Finding Home by Carolyne Aarsen
Family Bonds Series Book Four
Naomi Deacon returns to Rockyview after her fiancé, Billy, passes away. He had cancer and she stayed with him, nursing him until the end. Now she’s home again. Before she knows it, she’s thrown into close contact with the man she had dated before leaving with Billy. The man who never really left her heart.
Jess Schroder’s life is changing. His mom, newly widowed from her second husband, has dropped his stepsister into his lap. A sixteen-year-old pregnant stepsister. And then, as always, his mom left. When Brittany needs help because of bed rest, the one person Jess doesn’t want to help her…is his best option.
I loved this whole series, but really loved Jess and Naomi and the secondary characters as well. Wonderful stories with flawed characters who need to be reminded of a loving God that they can turn to leave their burdens.

What an interesting book of second chances. Naomi and Jess cared for each other when they were back in high school and Naomi was tutoring Jess. Circumstances prevented them from being together. It is now ten years later and Naomi has returned back to Rockyview after her fiance died.
It was interesting to see what brought Naomi and Jess together and to learn more about Jess’s past with his parents. I was so glad with God’s help and many prayers from the two main characters that the story came full circle and allowed Jess and Naomi to talk about their past to see if they could have a future together. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Do you ever get so attached to the characters in a favorite book series that you feel sad when it comes to an end? That’s how I feel about the wonderful family whose stories are told in the Family Bonds series and sadly, this is the last book–I had to savor it. It is the story of Naomi, the last of the kids to come back home, and of Jess, Naomi’s ex-boyfriend. They once had a strong connection but also some real regrets that caused their breakup and now that they are again living in the same hometown, they try to avoid one another. But Jess’ stepsister, a pregnant teenager, has health issues and he needs to find in-home healthcare to monitor her condition but no one can be found–no one except Naomi who is an LPN. There are lots of twists and turns in this story about forgiveness and second chances. It is so, so well-written. I loved it and give it my highest recommendation! I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Will Nana Bond get her hopes, prayers and dreams answered? The last member, Naomi, arrives in Rockyview, gets part-time work at Mug Shots and worries how she will fit back into the community; how will she find enough work to live here; and, sees someone she didn’t expect to meet so soon. This Book 4 of the series is truly all about family values, faith, grief and forgiveness. This author has written a magnificent book that covers every avenue of family. I loved it; it made me think; and, it made me look at forgiveness. Thanks for the early ARC to enjoy.
Naomi and Jess both had their hearts broken when they broke up. She is back in town and are now connected by his stepsister. Their story was so full of misunderstandings, a secret, hope and a love that has never ended. Brittany and Scott’s story added to Jess and Naomi’s. The hospital scene near the end was one of the best I have read. Forgiveness and faith in the Lord are two prevailing themes. This is one of my favorite books by this author.
Finding Home is another inspirational, heart warming romance from Carolyne Aarsen. I am loving the books in the Family Bonds series. Naomi, Jess and Brittany captured my heart as they work through their issues and Brittany’s pregnancy issues. With God’s help there is so much personal growth for these characters. This is a moving story that I could not put down. I highly recommend this book.
Returning to live in her small hometown, it’s was inevitable that Naomi would see her former boyfriend Jess again. When his teenage pregnant stepsister Brittany needed help to manage her preeclampsia and diabetes, LPN Naomi was the only immediate option. Somehow Naomi and Jess would have to work together to help Brittany. They also need to deal with their past before there was any hope for a future for them. I received a free copy of this eBook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a very believable second chance romance. I love this book and the message of forgiveness.
