A cute holiday romance with a good storyline, but the writing was cheesy. Joylin works on the same floor as Decker. She has been crushing on him for the whole year, but he never notices her. They end up volunteering together as Santa and his helper over at a department store that holds good childhood memories for them both. She doesn’t tell Decker where she works, because she is too embarrassed of her small role at the company. Throw in a bossy CEO and there’s bound to be trouble ahead. Here’s an example of a cheesy line that made me cringe: His slow mouth made love to hers, and she knew that one day they could be one.
I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Shhhh…don’t tell anyone, but my Kindle is full of Christmas fiction right now. I’ll probably be reading it at least until New Year’s, and maybe until Valentine’s Day.
I love a great romance, and bonus if it’s Christmasy too. This one by Sophia Summers was fun to read at this time of year. I loved the way she included Santa, elves and romance in this one.
This one has great characters. Decker is the kind of guy that everyone wants to know. He goes out of his way to help out at Gimbles when everything falls apart with their Santa. He drops what he has going and makes it work. And he’s great with the kids. I loved reading the parts where he interacts with them. And he was service minded too, his plan to go out of his way and help people out was really fun.
Then there’s Joylin. I loved watching her grow in this one. She started out as a bit of a stalker of Decker. And those parts were so funny! At the beginning especially, she seemed to feel a bit invisible. But that changed as the story progressed. Until the climax at the end, which I loved!
If you’re in the mood for a great Christmas book, grab this one!
Joylin has long admired Decker but he has never noticed her at work. He’s the VP of marketing and she works in HR. He volunteers to help out as Santa at Gimbels when the original Santa quit. Joylin notices a photo of Decker as Santa so she wanders over to the department store to see if it really is him. As she’s standing there, the elf quits and she volunteers to help out. He notices her and her sweet and efficient way of dealing with the children and the stress of waiting in a long line.
They get together and are quickly attracted to each other. He thinks her skills will work in his department, but at the same time, the female CEO of the company also notices Joylin and wants her for an assistant. Of course controversy erupts.
This is a sweet, well written love story that obviously takes place at Christmas. It is a fun, clean read and I would recommend this book to fans of holiday romance.
This is my favorite so far in this Love for the Holidays series. I would’ve been perfectly happy to read another 100 pages about Decker and Joylin. Joylin works in Human Resources and has been sighing over Decker Kringle, the VP of Marketing for over a year. So it makes perfect sense when she finds out he might be playing Santa over at Gimbels department store she decides to check it out. Things get even better when she discovers Santa’s in need of an elf.
Decker has no idea who this beautiful and wonderful elf is that’s suddenly appeared, but boy do they have an immediate and mutual attraction. Things kind of go sideways when Decker finds out where Joylin works before she comes clean. She can thank the CEO from Hades, Victoria (think of a mini-Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada) for that.
I loved this book. Decker is completely yummy–he’s good looking, rich and volunteers to play Santa to help out a department store without being asked!! What more could you want in a guy?! I know Joylin should’ve told him where she worked sooner but completely understand where she was coming from. Joylin was much too good and sweet to work as Victoria’s assistant. I loved the ending because everyone got what they deserved.
This would make a great Hallmark movie!
This is such a sweet Christmas romance that I didn’t want it to end. It is the story of Decker, a marketing executive, and Joylin, a Human Resources employee working for the same firm. Joylin has had a crush on Decker since she was first hired, while Decker has never looked her way.
Both Decker and Joylin are thrust into posing as Santa and an elf at a well known department store when the original people quit. As they get to know each other, complications at the company threaten to drive a wedge between them.
This author is one of my favorites. In Miracle on 34th floor, she has written a sweet and clean romance with wonderful characters who showcase the Spirit of Christmas in their interactions with others. Sophia Summers delivers the HEA ending while wrapping up the story with a great big Christmas bow.
