Dragon Tide: Rock Eaters is book 8 in Sarah K.L. Wilson’s Dragon Tide series. The adventure and danger continues as Seleska soon gets a clear view of the evil that she must fight to defeat or it will destroy everything that she loves and holds dear.
I quite practically devoured Dragon Tide: Rock Eaters because this book gives me the prophecies and the backstory to the creation of the dragons and the manticores. I loved every second of it. I truly enjoy it when the author gives me how things first began because it helps set the stage to how things got to be how they are. While we know how Seleska’s story began we never knew Atura’s and we get a glimpse into how she has had to live her life. It’s fascinating all the way around…a saddening at the same time.
The author gives readers a glimpse at the evil that is ravaging the lands and how quickly it is coming. I appreciate that there are some humorous moments sprinkled throughout as well. One particular scene had me arching my eyebrow one second and then choking back a laugh at the next. It literally goes from weird to…”did you really just say that?” LOL! This book ends on a cliffhanger like the rest, but for me…this is a softer cliffhanger. You’re curious as to what is going to happen next, but there isn’t as intense a drive to learn what happens next.
While this book has more of a reflective tone to it, it still keeps and pushes readers forward with what is going on here in the present and in more ways than one. I truly enjoyed this book, because the author fills in a lot of gaps and answers lots of questions for me. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I am looking forward to reading what happens in the next book as the end draws nearer.
Rock eaters is book eight in this action packed series. Seleska and Nasataa only need one more key. This very short book is action packed, ful of suspense and drama. This is not a stand alone book and it has a dramatic cliffhanger ending. It is a great series.
To date there has not been one book by Sarah K. L. Wilson that I have not adored, so it’s no surprise that I absolutely loved the ninth book in her fantastic Dragon Tide series, Rock Eaters. As the publisher’s blurb notes, “Seleska and Nasataa have just one more key to collect to open the Haroc.” This won’t mean anything to you if you’ve not read books 1-8. Thru are very quick, and massively fun, reads (each separately reviewed) so I’d urge you to take them on before turning to this one (which I equally urge you to do). There’s also other dragon themed series by this wonderful author (Dragon School and Dragon Chameleon), which are equally fantastic, but you can read this current series on a totally stand-alone basis (though, trust me, those other series are most definitely also more than worth reading).
Highly recommended.
The drama keeps on building. Seleska has rescued Heron and Nastataa, but Heron has no memory of anything much. She can’t concentrate on this at the moment, as she has one key to go and Atura is right behind her the entire time with the same goal in mind. The Draven and the Manticores are creating havoc everywhere, so Seleska must win to stop it all.
Seleska and Olfijum have rescued Heron and Nasataa. They then rescue an old woman who seems to be more that she appears at first glance. Seleska learns what the Trog’s and Draven eat. They make their way to Boajang for the next test and key. Someone is coming…just hoping its friends and not more enemies.
I am loving these episodes the Author does a fantastic job at the world building and bringing the scenes out, I felt like I was right there with the Characters living through it vacariously. This is one that would also be great on Netflix. There are twists and turns that were surprising. I definitely recommend.
