I’ve won one victory against my enemies, but it seems the barons are just getting started with their new, vicious schemes. They’ll stop at nothing to expand their power.Any move I make to oppose them could have horrible consequences for both me and the guys I love. My only hope is playing along until the right opportunity comes my way. There’s a chance I could sway my mother if I can earn her … I can earn her trust. She may be brutal when she feels she needs to be, but I’ve seen glimpses of a softer side underneath. Can I walk the line between obedience and resistance without losing so much more than I already have?
Grim Witchery is the seventh book in a university-age paranormal academy series. Expect magical villainy, a tough heroine who bends to no one’s will, a dollop of steam, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance where there’ll be no choosing required.

Probably my favorite book of the series so far!! I really enjoyed the plot of this story (and the love/steamy scenes too!!), it made me want to continue to do housework so I could listen haha. I thought the battles and showdowns teased throughout the book would have been epic in like a tv show setting. This would be a great option for that (more than other RHs I have read in the past) just because of the focus on the academy, powers, Naries, and romance/steam. Nothing is overpowering the other, which is great. Love the balance
I really loved seeing the group come together in this one, they really are making a cohesive unit (political and romantic) and I love how they are there for each other. Case and point with Jude’s attack. Finally Jude leaned on someone else and because of that, the others could save his life. I was saddened with how he kept seeing himself and putting himself down but my heart was happy when Rory kept reiterating to him that she loved him no matter what. I loved seeing more walls come down between them, especially when people finally make a stand with the Barons. It was refreshing to see what the scions do is a group decision/discussion and no one has sole responsibility of making decisions. OOOOH and the scion guard was brilliant!!
I was so excited to listen to the part where Rory and Connar scheme against Connar’s mom (she totally deserved what she got!) and am kinda liking see Rory and Malcolm’s parents become even more unhinged. I was really happy to be shocked with the Holden twist, that made me smile so much and I cannot wait to get more of him hopefully in the spinoffs because he is going to be a great character (hopefully more airtime with Noah and Agnes!). I was surprised with Maggie too, I thought she was super shady and going to end up being a super bad guy but loved the plot development and reveal. She really grew on me in book 7 and 8, not gonna lie! The side characters I thought really got some amazing exposure/highlights towards the end of the series. Cressida and Victory impressed me in this one, seeing them become more humane after not being forced to stay in the same mindset all their lives. They finally snapped out of it/saw the monsters for who they were and learned they didn’t have to be them too.
Ok, enough gushing about this book! Nothing new to say about the narration, was done really well. I think the feelings we got at the end were so realistic, I felt like I was in this world with them. The heartache Rory feels when she can’t get through to her mom hit me right in the feels. Amazing job to the two again, no constructive feedback from me on this one.
100000% recommend. I am happy Eva isn’t done with this world yet, I will be so sad and the book hangover will be so harsh once she writes the final THE END haha.
Just wow, this book blew my mind, just when I thought the Scions had faced their most shocking revelations, there are worse to come! In a truly diabolical plot twist Malcom discovers more disturbing facts about his father and the confrontations continue, I was hooked from the start and hung on every word, I can’t believe theres only one more book in the series.
Non-Stop Action!!!
Man-oh-man!! It’s gotten so crazy with the Barony trying to rule non-magic folks with extreme force, to Jude losing his magic, to reaching out to the joymancers for intervention via cloak & dagger, to Sh!t going down with Rory’s mom and Connar’s mom! ((DEEP SIGH)) I am freaking out here! Hate to be reaching the end, but so wanting to see how it all concludes. On to the final book. #HappyReading
This was one explosive happening after another!! Some major events and would be revelations came to light and this leaves the reader with a furrowed brown and a grim frown. Nothing is ever easily achieved for Rory, she’s playing a dangerous game without knowing all of the rules. It isn’t her fault that she lacks the intel needed, but people around her keep getting hurt or killed in the most magically horrific of ways. This concluded with another cliffhanger, but it’s pretty mild up against other works from Ms. Chase. I can’t wait to jump into the final book because this promises to be one race that will determine the fate of all living beings.
Wow! I thought the last book was the best, until I read this one! So many things happened that I’m still in shock!
I can’t believe all the twists and turns Ms. Chase has taken us on in this series. I love her other series, but this is definitely my favorite. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
I just binge read through the most recent two books of Eva Chase’s Royals of Villain Academy series and let me tell you: I’m totally exhausted but it was totally worth it. Foul Conjuring & Grim Witchery (Books 6&7) are quite frankly total blasts. Rory is a fantastic kick-a** leading lady and it’s bern a total pleasure following along through one exciting adventure after another as she gains in powers and experience. One heck of a fun rollercoaster and highly recommended.
Rory and her guys are back again as she tries to survive and fight the Barons as needed. It was hot yet fun to read as they work together. I love the action and read just to see what craziness will happen this time, what secrets will be uncovered and how will Rory win this time around. Plus get to see more of Rory and her mother as they try to work on their relationship. And since the series is ending soon I know its building up to the climax so I expected great things and was not disappointed. Just a fun steamy read. I love this series because its fun, magic, and crazy.
Hold onto your seatbelts everyone because Rory and the guys are in for one crazy turbulent ride! Sooooo much happens in this exciting installment. Secrets are revealed, layers upon layers start unraveling, and Rory gets the shock of a lifetime in the unlikeliest of places. Thankfully her bond with the guys is strengthening, and they all learn they may have more allies than expected. I can’t wait to see what happens next. One things for certain…the Barrony CAN’T remain as it’s currently run. We can only hope that change for the better is coming. But can they survive until that time comes? Tons of intrigue, adventure, romance and lots of deception happen within this gorgeously addicting series!!
The barons plan to loosen the controls around magic use around the Narys is just starting and any move Rory could make towards stopping the chaos could have deadly consequences for herself and the other scions who she loves. Will she be able to balance on the tightrope she finds herself on and protect everyone she loves – even her mother?
Wow – so much drama and danger as the stakes are getting higher and higher in their attempt to limit the damage that the Fearmancer community are unleashing on the general population. Several times I thought it would all come crashing down and they managed to do something clever in order to avoid it. The story ended on several dramatic evens and everything is building up towards some major actin in the next book in this series. Well written and addictive, I couldn’t put it down as I just HAD to know what was going to happen next.
