Great story. Keeps you interested from the beginning. Really enjoyed reading this story.
This book is absolutely amazing! Great characters take the reader on a journey through finding old love and making it new again! Shawn and Lauren were high school and college sweethearts until football took him away from her too often and she broke up with him. Now she has a successful company that does sensitivity training. When Shawn puts his foot in his mouth on live tv and says something he shouldn’t, he is forced to take the sensitivity training by the owner of the team he plays for. Imagine his surprise when he shows up the first day to find Lauren. He finds her training to be very enlightening and he starts to see things a different way. A project that Shawn must complete for the training and a medical emergency for Lauren’s dad find the two of them back to being next door neighbors. A night together reminds them of how things used to be and reminds Shawn how much he loves Lauren. The two end up making changes in their professional lives, move back home to Pasadena and begin the next chapter of their lives – together at last.

High school sweethearts Shawn Ryan and Lauren Gordon broke up in college as Shawn lets his ego get away from him and thinks he can say and do whatever he wants, regardless of who gets hurt. When he became a big-shot quarterback in the NFL in Houston, he became even more insensitive about the way he spoke to people. He made a nasty sexist remark on TV, insulting a woman publicly, and was ordered to attend sensitivity training or be kicked off the team.
Lauren owns a business where she offers a sensitivity training program which the owners of Shawn’s team sign him up to complete. But Shawn and Lauren have a volatile history. Can they get through this program without their relationship affecting the success? Will Shawn open his eyes to his poor behavior and become more like the man Lauren fell in love with all those years ago?
I enjoy second chances like this one. The story line is good and well-paced, the characters are well portrayed to make them more realistic. Will the two of them realize that their love still exists? Will they take a chance and try to make it work this time?
When foot in mouth disease strikes.
Shawn, Shawn … when will you learn that fame and ego is a bad combination?
Jillian Riley surprised me with the story of high school sweethearts Shawn and Lauren. Yes, it’s a story of two hearts going astray –Shawn after all becomes a big-shot quarterback in the NFL who let his fame get into his head.
This one was well-written, as I expected. Jillian Riley has a way of catching a reader’s attention with any plot she writes. It is always a joy for me to read another e-book written by this author, and I hope that you, dear reader, get to like her too!

I got invested in the characters from the beginning, he starts off as a jerk and she an empowered entrepreneur. They have a history and it’s entertaining watching the impact of their current personalities.

The Player’s Dilemma by Jillian Riley is a wonderful following Lauren and Shawn. He is a star quarterback who made a live faux paus that he can’t get around. She is the owner of a sensitivity training company. Stuff happens on air, live and he is required to take sensitivity training….with….none other than…., Yup…Lauren.
This was a touching story of second chance romance….and redemption. I loved the poignancy in the story as well as the depth of the characters and their situations. I had some great chuckles and ‘laugh out loud’ moments in the last quarter of the book!! The nostalgic scenarios were fabulous! Great story!!!!!

Ethan is the ultimate boy next store gone pro ball player, with his looks, money, and a career that is off the charts but after letting his temper get the better of himself on live television all of that comes into question. He gets a call from his agent with an ultimatum being delivered not only from his team but also his sponsors, take a sensitivity awareness training or you’re gone.
Lauren owns and operates LG Training, a highly sought after sensitivity training program and company, and was contacted by the HR head of the Houston Heroes begging her to add at least one more person to the closest session she had which was full the following weekend. Despite history between Lauren and Ethan, she accepts him as a client into the class in Denver.
Sparks tend to fly between the two exes but there seems to have a peace that has been made between the two by Sunday and the final class. Lauren gives a final assignment everyone in the class has to sit down with someone from their past from their childhood, their young adulthood, and their present to see about unseen biases that might have been present and when they showed up. While Ethan goes home for this, Lauren has her own emergency and brings the two back together again.
This time their eyes are opened, with a smack upside the head a time or two and a few in appropriately placed splinters and rocks. This story will make you giggle, make you sigh, and bring a smile to your face as two lovers find their way back to each other after decades apart.
I would definitely recommend this for a read!

This fast paced second chance Romance was quirky with a cute storyline. A football player with an ego the size of Texas gets a wake up call which leads him straight back to an ex. As Shawn realizes that sometimes things aren’t always black and white he might just get to tackle his loss of Lauren and hopefully score the winning touchdown to get the one girl who always owned his heart.
As a big time football hero, Shawn has it all! At least he thinks he does, until he makes an inappropriate sexist comment while live on the air. Suddenly his whole career is threatened. He is forced to go to “sensitivity training” or loose his quarterback position on the team. Turns out the seminar is being taught by his ex-girlfriend, who dumped him in college for being a sexist jerk. Forced to confront his past and his “attitude”, the weekend turns out to be life changing. He goes home for a week, as part of a homework assignment for the class, and starts to see how selfish and self-centered he has become. When Loren, his ex and next door neighbor comes home at the same time because her dad had a heart attack, they reconnect and fall in love again. Turns out, sometimes love does get a second chance.
I enjoyed The Player’s Dilemma. The story is interesting. It is a cute, fun romance story. This is a great second chance romance.
