Dover Rees is a guppy tailed merman and the youngest child of the King of the Southern Silver Isles. Despite the lofty title, he fits in better with the other guppy tailed working class than with his royal siblings. Dover spends his days secluded in his creek, successfully avoiding the King’s court and all the judgmental nobles there. Then, the most wonderous and horrible thing happens. He hears … hears the mating call and knows his alpha is waiting for him.
Ben Elliot is just a human trying to get by in a small tourist beach town. He has his art and a few good friends, and that should be enough, right? Wrong. Coming home to a quiet house and an empty bed starts to wear on him, but none of the omegas he knows appeal to him. Until a storm knocks him off his fishing boat and he’s rescued by a mysterious, blue-haired omega.
Together, Dover and Ben forge a bond strong enough to stand against the storm of corrupt lords, court politics, and a cursed king.
Author’s Note: Around 47,000 words. This is a paranormal, merman, mpreg, fated mates story with no angst and no cheating, just a HEA. There are a few potty mouths, so beware. 18+ readers only, please. It is book one in The Silver Isles series.

THE GUPPY PRINCE is the first book in The Silver Isles series, and we are introduced to a world where mermen and -women have different tails (which was fantastic!) Dover is looked down upon by his siblings because he has the tail of a guppy, the majority of whom serve the palace. When he feels the mating call, he is advised by his mother to ignore it. Instead, he follows his heart to America and meets Ben, a retired marine.
Dover is cute, charming, and altogether much too naive! I found him slightly irritating in the beginning, but he grew on me. By the end, I liked him, especially when he starting acting like an adult! Ben deserves a medal for putting up with the whole situation, but he seems very happy so that’s good enough for me.
With a big cast of characters, there is someone here for everyone. I really can’t wait to read more about Prince Tack and the curse his family is under. Well written and thoroughly enjoyable, I have no hesitation in recommending this book.

Dover is unusual in his own family. He was born with a guppy tail where as his siblings were not. They were all princes and princesses but still most of them gave him hell for being different. Then there was the curse that one of the children would kill their king but there has to be away to stop it. He was suppose to marry an aristocrat set up by his parents, but he has the mating call.
Ben is a human living in the United States among many different types of paranormal. He knows a few stories but he has never been prepared for finding a very sexy blue tail. Many things are going their way but there is a secret evil heading their way, or maybe not so secret.
I have never been a fan of mermen shifter stories but this author has created several different types to throw into her story. I liked how the main ones are separated into three groups so that you know which ones are leading and which ones are not. It however does have a downside as well. There are so many different characters that it is a bit hard to figure out who is who. Also the name of the chicken seems to change which means more editing is needed. It however is full of humor in it that I find amazing. Love a tale that has a lot of humor in them to keep me laughing.
I liked Dover quite a bit more than everyone else. He has a childlike attitude and is amazed at so many things. They live in a world that has fancy cars but you would not know it from the way he is. Also there is Ben’s art, it is not worth making at first but then damn if he is not sought out to make more. His brother’s names are so close to gather that it is sometimes difficult to remember who is who which is not a good idea in my eyes. I had trouble figuring them out.
Overall the story rocked quite a bit with me. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next story. I can guarantee that this is one of those stories that will be read many times over.
This book is so much fun. But don’t think that the story is skimped on. There is actually a very well thought out and quite in depth plot. There is also a strong underlying message about the need for acceptance whether it be colour, sexual identity or species.
I particularly loved the imagery in this story. Little touches like the Vespa and the shinies make this an absolute gem. Prince Dover and Ben represent everything good and the size of their hearts astounds. Secondary characters such as Dover’s parents, brothers, sisters, various witches, crocodiles etc. are all excellently written and not used just as window dressing.
It did take me a while to get used to narrator Connor Brown. I had to read a couple of chapters first and then had no further problems. His enjoyment of the story is evident in every word and he brings to life all the different characters in excellent fashion.
I loved this book. The universe is a lot of fun. Humans are aware of supernatural species and Grey touched on some societal elements that I would love to see developed more.
This is a fated mates story, and the romance plot is kicked of when our mermaid MC follows the mating call. The other plot line that looks like it will continue in future books revolves around the different sea kingdoms, a sea witch, and a curse, and I looking forward to book two.
Can a Guppy Prince and his human mate break a curse?
What a wonderful start of a new series. I loved it! Come to the world of the Silver Isles. You will be enchanted by this world of shifters, humans, a Sea Witch, and mer-people . There is family angst, smarmy aristocrats, secrets, fated mates, loyal friends, unexpected love, courage, and politics. Did I mention pregnancies and an adorable baby?
This is Dover and Ben’s story. Dover is the youngest of the royal family of the Silver Isles. He is a Bluetail. Bluetails are the most common of tails. Royalty isn’t supposed to have them. Dover doesn’t care. When he feels the mating call, he goes seeking his mate. Ben is human. He lives a simple life with his dog Otis. The day the witch Hester tells him to leave Otis with her when he goes out fishing changes his life forever. He never expects to fall overboard and be rescued by a blue haired, blue tailed merman who claims to be his mate. As Dover & Ben find their way, amazing things happen. Along with their friends and family, they change history, and the kingdom.
You will love Nima, Eloise, Shauna, Chubber, and Shell. There are crocodile & beaver shifters, a prince with shark friends, loyal friends, hot sex, lots of love, and an abandoned baby. There is humor, beauty, angst, and stubborn men willing to risk everything to do what’s right.
You will love this book. I can’t wait for book two!
