As an outlawed vampire and famed sharp-shooter, Lady Loxley Robbins is a force to be reckoned with. She won’t let anything stand in her way. Or anyone. She only has two rules:1. Only steal from those who deserve it.2. Don’t fall for any of the Merry Men, not even Val, the charming rogue who keeps insisting they should be together. When Loxley’s sister is kidnapped by werewolves, her skills as the … by werewolves, her skills as the fastest draw in the Wild West will be put to the test. She’ll have to rely on the man she’s entrusted with her heart to protect her back. Even if it means accepting the claim he has over her.

What a wonderful Paranormal twist has been given to the story of Robin Hood and the Merry Man. The great characters of Loxley, Vin, Tucker. The attraction and growing love between Loxley and Vin and of course the ongoing fight with John Prince (Prince John), but now to free Loxley’s sister from his claws. Will they manage to free her? Read this and you will know. I happily recommend this book. Vampires and Werewolves, just great.

A twist on Robin Hood and his Merry men with Loxley (Robin Hood and FMC) being a woman & a Vampire too. As well as all her Merry men. The bad guy is still Prince John or John Prince here. Loxley is one kick*** lady in this book and with Vin they certainly bring on the steam. Its a pretty great read and from that ending im looking forward to the next book
Well this was a quick, fun retelling of Robin Hood. I like Loxley and Vin. I did read the novella in the anthology that came out first which gave me a better understanding of Loxley and what happened to her. This retelling has vampires, werewolves and witches. The main premise of stealing from the rich to give to the poor is still in the heart of this book just with a twist. I look forward to reading the next books.

I’m deeply ashamed that it took me this long to get to this book. I was really looking forward to reading this and the moment I got the message that there was an ARC available I didn’t hesitate a second and then somehow life happened. However, this morning I finally started this retelling of Robin Hood. It’s one of the legends I’m less familiar with, but I was quite surprised that I still managed to recognize quite some elements.
What stands out in this story, is that this retelling of the famous legend of Robin Hood, stealing back from the rich and giving it to the poor, is quite original. And that’s mostly because of all the fantasy elements in this story. In this case the poor people are humans, King John is the Alpha of a huge werewolf pack and Robin is a female vampire who is now leading a nice ensemble of characters of different species.
And despite all the fantasy elements, the core of the story still stands and loads of elements that I am familiar with are still there. However, there are also quite some new elements to the story because of that fantasy setting. I can’t wait to dive into the vampire politics in the next book, which was another surprise as I somehow thought it was a standalone, and I can’t wait to find out more about Vin and his background, because there seems to be quite a story there.
The true star of this story however was clearly Loxly. What I really liked about her is that she’s more than just a talented sharp shooter. She has a history, an upbringing and there is a reason she became the person she is now. In a way she is a lot like the Robin I’m familiar with, but she also brings in quite some things of her own. And I’m pretty sure that we have barely scratched the surface of everything there is to know about our heroine.
This is a fun retelling of the classic Robin Hood! I really liked it! It is exciting and full of adventure.. These characters are cool!

I absolutely loved this supernatural, jaunty retelling of Robin Hood and his/her Merry Men! It is a great opening story for a series of books and I cannot wait for the next one! 😀 The story was laid out well, the characters were all there, and there were enough feels and adventures to keep the blood pumping and boiling alternately! I also liked the move the Wild West but the keeping with the Old hierarchies of feudalism by keeping it in a Vampirical system. It was all thought out really well. And even though they are supernatural, they are still, thinking, breathing, and emotional creatures. I loved it all!!! Well done! I can’t wait to see what comes next!!! 😀
Gender-bent retelling of Robin Hood featuring vampires and werewolves in a world mostly populated by humans. Set in the old west complete with saloons offering blood on tap. Think early 1800’s deep south spreading into the wild frontier of Tennessee or Kentucky. I’ve read a few steam punk books set in this type of time period and it works really well for this type of narrative with the established wealth of the manor families clashing with the influx of settlers scrabbling to get by and ambitious parties scheming to seize power out of the immediate reach of their traditional rivals.
This book assumes that you are familiar with the basics of the traditional Robin Hood story and uses many character names similar those commonly associated with this story. It just dives right in and barely pauses to fill in details or add backstory as it barrels ahead. Loxley is fiercely independent, and deeply loyal to those she loves. There are a few hints as to how she came to be with the Merry Men, but it is never fully explained.
Fast, exciting read with a bit of romance (and a couple short explicit steamy scenes). This is the first book in a series and although it does resolve the major conflict introduced in this book I feel like it left more questions unanswered than otherwise and it ended with a huge issue to be dealt with in book 2. This feels like the type of writing where answers will come over time and much of what was hinted at and foreshadowed in this book will be further fleshed out. So both a full story arc, and a HUGE teaser for the coming series.
Loxley is a woman with a mind of her own and she has left her family ur rather her family has thrown her out of the manner and she has struck out on her own and joined a group of men that they call the merry men and they steal from the rich and giving to the poor as well as from John Prince until her sister is kidnapped. Paranormal John Prince is a werewolf who doesn’t care about anyone but himself and he has decided that he wants to be head of vampires and werewolves. Loxley is having a relationship with the handsome Marvin aka (Vin). I like this story and the characters were pretty interesting. They determined that this monster John Prince a wily werewolf will kill no more. Book 2 in series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So not what I expected! I really like that the main character is female and she is kick ass but not forgetful of her feminine side. I did not expect vampires and werewolves! The story follows a similar path that the traditional story tells…. stealing from the rich to help the poor. This time Maid Marion is Loxly’s sister (a vamp) who ends up falling for one of her captors. Prince John is John Prince, a werewolf, who’s a jerk and stealing for the poor. In this story Loxly Robbin (the Robin Hood in this story) is trying to blend in with the Merry Men and look like one of the guys. They all know she’s a girl but no one makes a big deal….She’s a bad ass alpha in her own right, as that is how her father trained her before she’s banished from her community.. Vin is the technical leader of the Merry Men but that all listen to Loxly, to her that is the ultimate reward. She and Vin have a relationship brewing and it comes to a head when he’s almost killed, yes he’s a vampire too. The Merry Men are mostly vampires with a few humans mixed in. He almost dies but she saves him and then they are off to get her sister who’s been kidnapped by Prince. They rescue the sister, kill Prince and at the end someone is seen taking Vin away…an enemy. Saving Vin started a bonding process which the two are not opposed to just weren’t ready for that stage of the game yet. Things get a lil hairy but everything comes out a win…they even win the Prince home after Loxly kills Prince….now all the werewolves see her as their alpha. That is taking some getting used to.
Great retelling of this story!!!

This was a strange paranormal take on the tales of robin hood. A some what stilted romance set round the life of the Merry men.
