Ready for Gunner’s story and the epic finale of Steele Shadows Security? From multi-award-winning romantic suspense author Amanda McKinney comes book three in the steamy, edge-of-your-seat, three-part series, Steele Shadows Security… they’ve been looking for.
Welcome to Cabin 1, Cabin 2, Cabin 3…
Businessman. CEO. Head of household. Three titles worst suited for Gunner Steele, the short tempered, reticent former Marine and rebel of the infamous Steele brothers. After an evening searching the mountains for his missing office manager, Gunner finds an undercover agent at his front door demanding protection—and that anyone but him be her bodyguard. Usually, Gunner didn’t give a damn if someone disliked him, but this particular curvy vixen had information about the man who killed his father and maimed his brother. Information he’d gladly sell his soul for… but is he willing to sell hers, too?
After failure to deliver the location of a Russian spy as slippery as a bowl of borscht, Lexi York is fresh out of a job and a near-death experience when she seeks refuge at Steele Shadows, despite her disdain for the tattooed bad boy, Gunner Steele. At her wits end, Lexi devises a plan to use Gunner to get her job back, but what she hadn’t planned on was developing feelings for the tortured soul she could never tame.
Unwilling to make promises he can’t keep, Gunner is faced with the biggest decision of his life. Avenge his family, or throw away the only woman who’s cracked open his shielded heart?

Cabin 3 is the third book in Amanda Kinney’s new Berry Springs spin of series STEELE SHADOWS SECURITY. The story is fast paced and intense from the start. It is about Gunner Steele and Lexi York. They are the main story and protagonists in this book, but I love that we also have the backstory which continues where the previous book left of – the search of Celeste and their father’s killer along with Lexi’s problem – being discovered as an undercover agent. The characters are complex and resilient; the plot is strong with unpredictable twists and turns that will keep you guessing the whole time. I loved that it was written in first person, dual POV. It was enjoyable, steamy, dark, suspenseful, heartfelt and heartbreaking read with such cleverly and brilliantly written plot twist(s).
Gunner Steele is an ex-military/Marine/sniper. Military life was whole his life. He has a hard time settling back into his roots and figuring out how to cope with the loss of his father/brother. Suddenly all the responsibilities fell on his shoulder: the CEO position, the business, taking care of his brothers etc. Gunner doesn’t like being vulnerable. He also lacks in communication skills. He is observant, hot headed – reacts and then thinks it through, but he is also charming, protective, loyal, possessive, loving, caring, vulnerable and tortured soul.
Lexi York is an undercover agent working for Astor Stone, but her cover gets blown, she gets fired from her job so she seeks refuge at Steele Shadows. She had less than perfect childhood. She is strong willed, brave, sassy, feisty, loving, caring, vulnerable and insecure.
Gunner and Lexi are truly amazing. They had a complicated start and meeting but after they got to know each other, they started to develop feelings and to see the real persons behind their mask and layers. They lit the pages with their chemistry, sassiness and the way they called each other out. They are each other’s match, sinfully sexy and intense. Neither of them in the beginning is looking for a relationship, but the feelings got involved. Their timing might be a little off with everything that was happening and because of Gunner’s revenge. They might not have seen eye to eye on some things but they made it work somehow. Gunner and Lexi are instantly drawn to each other but neither can explain what exactly is about her/him that gets to her/him. Lexi is his weakness but his strength too. They are both strong and stubborn with some emotional baggage. I love their relationship development; they were building some kind of friendship and then potentially became more. Lexi and Gunner’s bond gets stronger the more time they spend together. Their banter was enjoyable and made them who they are. They push and challenge each other. They need to meet in the middle. I loved the development of this emotionally beautiful read and these two people.
Secondary characters are intriguing, engaging, funny and incredible. I just love their camaraderie, friendship and the way they have each other’s back and treat each other like a family. Wolf made me laugh several times and break the tension I felt while I was reading; Jagg too. I loved Jagg’s connection with Steele brothers and their banter.
UTTERLY INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL AND HEARTBREAKING! It kept my attention at all times and I could not put it down. With an effortless writing, awe-inspiring details, and a journey of revenge, forgiveness, love, secrets, lies, mystery, self-discovery, the author takes us on an emotional and beautiful journey of the characters, their struggles and the road to their happiness. I highly recommend this book and whole series.
The 3rd book is a great ending to the series. An absolutely must read series. Great plot. The men are great guys and all have their own demons to over come. The women they fall in love with are perfect for them
Wow!! I always can’t wait for a new book from Amanda McKinney to come out. She has this way to pull you into a story and make you forget your chores while you are reading her books. This one did not disappoint!! Of the 3 in the Cabin series this one may be my favorite!! Great story line, and twists in the story. And don’t forget the romance thrown into the suspense!! She has a way with words! I LOVED this book and can’t wait for the next one! Get writing Amanda!!
Cabin 3 was by far my favorite of this series. Gunner Steele is a lost soul looking for revenge on the person who killed his father and turned his world upside down. In the middle of his search to find the killer, he gets an assignment, Lexi York. Lexi claims to be an undercover agent whose cover was blown and now her life is in danger.
This book has it all; suspense, intrigue, and of course sex. It is very well written, great characters who you really get to know. Amanda keeps you guessing until the end as to who the killer is. I am looking forward to reading more of the stand alone books featuring other characters from this series.
I really love this series, and this book is another great addition adding one more brother to the list of who falls under the spell of a challenging woman they’ve been charge with protecting. Gunner is next up, and man does he make it difficult. Lexi is probably one of the first women to be on equal footing with what she does for a living, and it takes a bit of story telling before we are up to speed on how these two are thrown together, and when they do, sparks fly and more mystery and twists happen that leaves you searching for The Who done it in this tangled web of one heck of a book. Im not going to spoil it, but damn if we aren’t lead down one path only to be floored with the realization of who has killed dad and severely injured Phoenix. Great well written storyline, can’t wait to read the next book. Very well worth the read!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Wow! A real page-turner!! This is the final in the Steel shadows security series, and I highly recommend to read the series in order.
Cabin 3 is awesome! A lot of twists and turns, suspense, hot romance, emotional, and great characters.I loved Gunner and Lexi!
And the ending!! Wow ! I didn’t see that coming! I received an ARC from the author for an honest review
Edge of your seat, exciting, emotional, dramatic, dangerous, hot and so much more. She was betrayed by her boss and ends up having the one person she doesn’t want help her. He thinks he isn’t good at anything and the last thing he wants is to help her but she has something he needs. Bring on the fireworks with these two. Lots of twists and turns and many surprises. An awesome addition to the series. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
