Another Blair Howard book of utter chills and thrills. Kate faces the hardest case ever. More questions than answers. A maze of twists and turns arriving at deadends yet she unravels this unpredictable and unexpected mystery. So realistic it’s scary. Don’t let this slip through your fingers. Received ARC copy and this is my honest opinion.
Genevieve (Lt. Kate Gazzara #6), my eleventh read from author Blair Howard and the sixth in the Lt. Kate Gazzara series. Well-written and enjoyable detective fiction, each book in the series better than the last. I was been given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Renée Maxwell’s narration again adds to the book’s enjoyment. I look forward to Cassidy, the next book in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
I was lucky enough to have gotten a ARC copy of this book from the author. I am volunteering to leave this review. Fantastic book a definite wild ride and the end is fantastic
Genevieve is a beautiful young woman that marries into a ridiculously rich family. It sounds like a fairy tale, but it’s not. There are well kept secrets on both sides of the family. When Genevieve is murdered Captain Kate Gazzara steps in. She and her team desperately search for clues but this one won’t be easy. I was glued to my chair trying to figure out who done it. Another great book in the series. The author always keeps me enthralled by his books. Kudos to Blair Howard for another fantastic book.
This was a great book. I didn’t realize it was part of a series when I got it. I am now on a mission to read all of the preceding novels. Kate is an interesting woman and her crew makes for amusement and action. The writing style flows so well that it creates a smooth yet suspenseful experience. I am off to add more of Kate Gazzara’s adventures to me library. This is a great stand alone if you choose to read it as such.
Who killed Genevieve and why? The fast-paced action, convoluted twists and different character personalities makes this a book that is hard to put down until the end. Rumor’s run rife but Captain Kate Gazzara and Detective Janet Tolliver are up to the intensity, threats, buried information and red herrings thrown their way. I loved trying to see if I could figure out who the culprit/culprits were! Terrific read!
Red Robin
This is a great police procedural in this fascinating series following the career of Kate Gazzara. Kate has been promoted and now has her own team, their first case is a beautiful young woman who has been murdered.
The woman (Genevieve) turns out to be the wife of a member of a very rich and influential family.
As the investigation progresses Kate discovers that wealth and privilege can cover up a multitude of sins, and buy silence, making her investigation very difficult. Genevieve’s background also reveals that she wasn’t what she seemed, meaning that the pool of suspects got bigger, rather than smaller.
But Kate’s persistence carries her through to finding the culprit in the end.
There are a number of aspects to this series which I really like, the characters, which are always believable and fleshed out, the complex plots, and the relationships within the police department as well. This book provides all these and is a great addition to the series.
I received an advance copy of this book, but have voluntarily written this honest review.
Another great Kate Gazzara novel. The wife of a wealthy man and family is found dead strangled in a park. Genevieve Chesterton married into a wealthy family. She changed her name to try to hide her real identify. Kate is now a captain leading her team into this investigation. This is a well written novel that is a page turner. Secrets are uncovered and exposed. Grandfather Chesterton attempts to throw his weight and influence around the investigation. This does not derail Kate and her team. A surprise conclusion to the murder.
This is not a Lieutenant Kate Gazzara book. It is a CAPTAIN Kate Gazzara book. Kate has been promoted and has a team of her own including gung-ho over achiever Janet Tolliver . A young woman is found dead under a bridge. She looks a bit like a lady of the night but Kate soon discovers she is married to the grandson of one of Chattanooga’s wealthiest men. Kate is told to solve the case fast but she is not to bother the rich and famous in the process. How is she supposed to solve a murder without questioning the family? As usual Kate does things her way and ruffles many feathers and uncovers many secrets the wealthy family would rather keep covered. There are many twists and turns in this satisfying detective story. Fans of Blair Howard will love it. If you are not a fan of Blair Howard, you should be. His characters are well developed and the story lines are interesting and believable.Try this one. Reading earlier books can be helpful but this book can be read as a standalone.
Kate is a more seasoned cop. She’s been promoted to Captain and has an interesting mix of characters on her team – from the young Detective Janet (who needs to get a filter about asking her boss personal questions) to the almost retired Detective Arthur Hawkins.
In this book, Kate and her team are tasked with finding who murdered Genevieve, a young woman who had married into the 3rd wealthiest family in Tennessee. The family members, while wanting the murder solved, were not exactly cooperative in providing answers to the cops questions. But they were able to find enough leads to follow that eventually led to the murderer.
I found this story to be a more complex than some of the previous books – there were numerous suspects at the start of the case and more that were added as additional information was obtained. There turned out to be some secrets being kept and not all of the connections of the characters were revealed by the end – perhaps intentional for a lead-in to another story? You will be kept guessing as to the murderer until close to the end of the book.
This may be a story around the death of a family member of an old money Tennessee family. Wealth, power, truths and deceptions meet pr and plain manipulation of facts and truths.
We get more insights into Kate as a Leader, part of a team- not just a Harry Starke adjacent figure.
Plenty of secrets hid in the shadows- some might even be relevant.
Intense drama
