An extravagant destination wedding job brings Ashley, Patty and Dizzy to a millionaire’s remote horse ranch in the mountains of Wyoming where a mysterious death and disabled commuter plane leave everyone stranded until the murder is solved. Another guess-along mystery by USA & Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author Sandi Scott.Being hired to cater a wedding is exciting and when that wedding … to cater a wedding is exciting and when that wedding is at a horse ranch, things couldn’t be much better for Seagrass Sweets and The Southern Bird. Ashley, Patty and even Dizzy fly to a remote ranch located high in the mountains of Wyoming, ready to wow wedding guests with sumptuous meals and decadent desserts.
All is not well at the ranch however. Horses are falling sick with a virus and one of them, a mare named Cocoa, seems bent on ruining everything—from Ashley’s desserts to the wedding itself. Then a body is found in Cocoa’s stall, and the wedding is postponed. Ashley can’t decide which is worse, being at the scene of yet another murder, or not being able to make it home in time to go on a dream cruise with Ryan.
An impassible road and a plane that has been disabled means there is no way off the ranch and the police are unable to get up the mountain, so it is up to Ashley and Patty to keep their eyes and ears open to find the killer. With some help from Dizzy’s new friends, Cocoa and a farm cat called Bébé, Ashley closes in on the killer.
Will she solve it before the police get involved in order to make it to her dream vacation with her sweetheart?
This is a cozy mystery featuring a strong female protagonist and a mystery that will keep you guessing. It has no graphic violence, bad language or sex. It is Book 6 of the Seagrass Sweets Cozy Series but can be read as a standalone.

In Sandi Scott’s latest cozy mystery, Ashley and Patty have been hired to cater a small wedding party. With the help from ranch hands Bronc and Duke, it should go off without a hitch; we all know how the best laid plans can go awry. On the morning of the wedding, a local veterinarian and friend of bride was found dead in the barn, putting the wedding on hold. With the roads out of order and their plane sabotaged, everyone is stuck on the ranch with the murderer and no police help in sight. What is Ashley to do but solve the murder? With everyone being childhood friends, who would have killed the vet?
Another great book from Sandi Scott. She always knows how to keep the reader guessing until the very end, and how to keep the laughs coming. Bronc and Duke are not your typical wedding catering help, and Cocoa the horse is by far the best character in the story and has the biggest personality.
I love this series and this book was a long time coming 🙂 I wish there were more to this series and I hope it continues.
In this one Patty, Ashley and Dizzy are flown to a big ranch in Texas to cater a wedding. They are going to be there for a few days but naturally things go wrong. The ex-boyfriend of the soon to be bride is murdered. The owner of the ranch fails to call the police right away, asking Ashley to solve the murder instead. The biggest drawback is that the only road to and from the ranch is out and the owner has disabled the plane so everyone is trapped. Ashley, with Patty’s help, does her best while still trying to feed all of the guests. That and the funny horse, Cocoa, who keeps getting out of her stable and into mischief make this a very enjoyable story!
The first thing you need to know is that there is never a spoiler in any of my reviews, but next, let me tell you that you just need to stop here and go pick up a copy of this book! The cover is a nice start to a novel that you can call ‘yummy’ at every level. You have a catering job at a wedding mixed with murder, mystery, plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing till the very end. Throw in, an isolated animal rescue, lots of intrigue, mixed with super characters and a well-told story that results in only making you sorry that you raced through it and now you are at the end! You will never be disappointed with any of Sandi’s books; that being said, this book does just fine as a stand-alone if you are new to this author, however, you will certainly want to go back and read the others. I received an advanced copy and this is my unbiased, unsolicited review.
