The characters are wonderful and Evelynn’s parents are over the top. Especially, after Evelynn bets with Robert at a game of cards. Now the whole ton is saying that she sold her body for a dance. Now that rumor is also well over the top. The only true secret if it gets out will destroy both Robert’s family and their relationship. The story is shaky and the plot not well thought out. The dialog between the main characters is good along with the chemistry between the two. Unfortunately, the story falls apart in the climax of the story, and the author tries to write herself out of a hole during the epilogue.
Let’s meet our cast of characters.
Lady Adelaide (Addie) Haddington, Mar Anne (her lady’s maid), her twin Lady Serna, mom and dad, Baron Grey of Waterston, and Lord Colin Honeyfield, ( the Duke of Richmond), and his mother. Lord Colin’s cousin, Richard Balfour, Earl of Mornington.
Addie has an infatuation with Lord Colin even though she has one seen him from afar. He is the one who smiled at her. She is the wild child, always flaunting the rules and manners.
Now Lady Serena is to marry him. Serena is the obedient one. She wants to travel and explore the war even though she knows it will never happen.
Lord Colin wants an honest wife who wants him not his title. He hopes for love but will settle for deep affection. While his cousin Lord Do hard hopes to remain single and unencumbered.
Addie helps her sister with the wedding plans while Serena just wants it all to go away. Lord Colin does nothing but deal with his estate business and Lord Richard’s antics. I
As the hussle ensues with the wedding and not meeting or seeing each other, these two have no clue what will happen. On the flip side you have Addie wishing it was her and Serena also. Then the day of the wedding twin stick together and help the other. Mom and dad know the truth but don’t know how to fix it. The more the newly weds learn of the other the more troubles arise.
Let’s just say twin-hijinx ensue and built being out the truth and all is solved.

Wagers can be fun or…
Losing all sense Lady Evelynn enters into a wager with Robert Christopher. During this, the two characters draw closer and love blooms. Then there is the twist and what can they do. What an intriguing and grand story this was. Faced with what the ton would say they had to decide for themselves what was the right thing to do. The author did a fabulous job of writing these characters and showing how difficult it was for them. The author wrote with such passion it was hard to put down the book. I was entertained by this book and I highly recommend it.
The wonderfully written storyline and the well created characters made this book a very enjoyable and entertaining read!
