Seductive Danger – (A Sinclair & Ravel Holiday Novella) – Wendy Vella
The Sinclair family was given the job of protecting any member of the House of Raven. All the Sinclair’s have heightened senses, hearing, sight, smell and use of herbs/taste. This holiday novella is the story of Rory Huntington, the brother of Max Huntington and James, Duke of Raven and Kate Sinclair, sister to Wolf Sinclair.
It’s early morn, at Raven Castle and Kate Sinclair can’t sleep. She can’t figure out why so she takes Myrtle (the family dog) and she and Myrtle make their way down Crunston Cliff to the beach. Maybe a walk along the beach will ease her mind. What she doesn’t expect to find is a man, trussed up with rope and a bullet wound behind a rock with his dog (Bran) keeping watch over him. With the tide beginning to rise Kate must get the man moving and up the cliff to get him back to Oak ‘s Knoll (her Sinclair cousins home) where she can treat the man’s bullet wound and warm him up. Of course, being a Sinclair she has already made it know she is in need of help, by calling out knowing that her cousin with the heightened sense of hearing will hear Kate’s call for help and it should be at the top of the cliff when she and the gentleman arrive.
What Kate does not expect to find is all the Sinclair/Raven men awaiting nor does she expect to find out that the man she has just rescued is Rory Huntington, brother to Maxwell Huntington who is married to her cousin Essex.
Max had left his family, brother Rory and sister Maddie and there are a lot of bad feelings that have built up in Rory over the years, as he felt his older brother had abandoned them.
Since the Sinclair/Raven families have gathered at the Castle for a wedding, everyone is pushing Rory to stay and spend more time recovering but he is determined to leave and not discuss anything with his brother. It seems that the brothers may be at an impasse except there is Kate Sinclair who feels a pull towards Rory and he to her. Is it the Raven/Sinclair protection story bringing these two together? Will Rory calm down enough to actually give Max a listen as to why he left. Can these brothers bridge this gap between them and will Kate and Rory end up as a couple as is always the case when a Sinclair saves a Raven.
Wendy Vella has again given us a Sinclair/Raven love story where there are truths that need telling, lies that need correcting and danger that could hurt one of the Sinclair women. It’s a lovely Holiday Romance that brings Christmas Tide and new love to life in the Sinclair/Raven household.
Love the authors stories on this family. Characters of so easy to love.
“One t-taste,” he whispered, lowering his head. “I-I must.” It was brief and fleeting, the touch of his ice-cold lips to hers, and then he forcing her away from him.” Yes, I was captivated from the first in this story and it held me until the end.
Thus begins a wonderful story that stole my heart – of Kate Sinclair, as she found Rory, who had been left for dead on the beach, tied up and shot with the freezing weather and tide about to end his life. Bringing him into her wonderful family and he, wanting nothing to do with anyone. But fate had placed him there it seemed because he was about to find a brother who had abandoned him years ago, or so he thought. His half brother, the Duke of Raven and more siblings.
A mystery abounds as to what has happened to Rory and why he is the way he is… A loner, wanting no family, of the men who had left him to die and why had Max, his full brother had left him and his sister years ago with no explaination.
All will become clear and as the mantra goes, “Sinclairs married Ravens…”, so I could not wait to find out if Kate and Rory would uphold that decree. Simply perfect…
It feels like this story goes by in a blink. The action hits the ground running from the moment the book opens, and it doesn’t really let up until the very end. I haven’t read all of the books before this, so I don’t know the complete history of the Huntington siblings. There were lots of revelations in here that I wasn’t expecting. Rory’s as prickly as a porcupine and everyone’s treading carefully around him. I loved getting this chance to see Kate as the heroine of the story. I adore the strong family connections in these books. They don’t always get along perfectly, but it’s easy to see the deep and abiding affection between them all. I can’t wait to see what comes next for the series.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Seductive Danger is a spectacular historical Christmas romance by Wendy Vella. This is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Vella has provided readers with a book that is not only well-written but also filled with a magnificent cast of characters. Some we’ve met in previous books from the series, some new, all lovable. Rory was shot, tied, gagged and left to drown on a beach where Kate finds him as the time comes in. Rory and Kate’s story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits, action, suspense and a little paranormal twist. I love this book and look forward to reading more from Wendy Vella soon. Seductive Danger is book 7 of A Sinclair & Raven Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Seductive Danger is the seventh book in the Sinclair and Raven series. It is a Christmas novella so it was short but it was still a wonderful book. The author does a great job developing her characters in her books and this one was just as good as her novels. I am a huge fan of this series because the author allows the reader to feel all the family camaraderie and love the family has for each other. The witty banter between the siblings and the families provide humor along with a romance and mystery.
We meet Kate Sinclair in Tempting Danger and we heard of Rory Huntington in Touched by Danger when Max said he was searching for his family he had lost. The Sinclair and Raven’s family had returned to Raven Castle and Oak’s Knoll for the Christmas season and Alice and Nicholas’s wedding. When Kate woke up one early morning and felt a desperate need to walk on the beach below the cliffs, she saved Rory who had been shot, tied up, gagged, and left to die when tide cam in. Max recognizes Rory as his lost brother when the family arrives to help Kate. Due to a misunderstanding, Rory hated Max and didn’t want to have anything to do with him. Rory needed to get back to France to take care of the men who had abandoned him on the beach. Kate is drawn to Rory but he is convinced that he doesn’t want or need a family. He slowly comes to realize that having a family would improve his sister’s and his life but then unfortunate events occur that could cause him to lose Kate and his family.
This is a great series and one that I have read several times. I love the author’s style of writing and how smooth the stories flow. I can’t wait to see who the next book will be about. Maybe we will get to meet Maddie?
I have preordered this book, but received an ARC. I am voluntarily leaving a review and all opinions are my own.
The Sinclair and Raven stories are auto buys for me now. I can always depend that they will be fantastic stories. Seductive Danger is a novella but certainly did not feel short changed in the story. Definitely worth the read.
