I, Agnes Sylvester, a successful author known as Adeline Snow to the romance community, enjoy the simple things in life: watching the X Games with my childhood friend Todd; taking pictures of interesting buildings; and creating stories based on fantasies about my favorite skateboarder, Spencer Garrison. I’m known for my extreme sports stories, and as long as no one ever figures out he’s my muse, … muse, all is well.
But fate has never liked me and now that muse is standing in front of me. Asking me to sign a book.
What.
Is.
Happening!?!
“Extreme Sports Superstar” is the term the media has used to describe me over the years. I prefer to just be Spencer Garrison, a small-town guy who happens to ride a skateboard for a living and is known for philanthropy.
Nearing retirement, I’m focusing on my non-profit efforts and building a life outside of a professional athlete. My agent won’t let me retire in peace and consequently a talented and kindhearted woman stumbles her way into my life.
Sometimes happy endings aren’t written. They’re lived.

This book made me happy. This slow burn with a medium heat level, told in alternating POV’s as written by these two talented authors who have shared a character each to bring us this wonderful couple. I’m thrilled that proceeds will benefit a charity for special needs kids through sport!
Spencer was swoon-worthy in his centered calm and patient determination to get his girl. Addi/Aggi is a creative creature who has trouble navigating in the real world. She’s created a small secure world to write her stories centered around her secret muse, Spencer. The two are paired to do a book tour and traveling together creates a lot of opportunities to get to know each other very well. I really enjoyed the slow burn get to know you through shared experiences and histories shared. I fell in love with them as a couple.
The family and friends create such a vivid picture and give this story a lot of depth. I feel like could have been in the story as one of those super fans just like Spencer’s sister Kate at Addi’s book signing. I hope I’ve never made one of my favorite ladies uncomfortable and I hope Aggi’s almost crippling insecurities are more fiction that truth for people I hold dear. Todd gives a lot of color to this story as Aggi’s best friend. I would have enjoyed more of him.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to any other collaboration from these two talented writers.
When stud meets author…with a huge thanks to his sister. Adeline and Spencer are everything you want and more. Switch Stance is such an amazing romcom! In this book you will see Adeline’s clumsy, badassry and insecure side. We see Spencer’s huge soft spot for Adeline. They are just perfect for each other!
I’m thankful for two of my favorite author’s teaming up to give us this book!
Loved loved loved!! I haven’t read anything from either author before but I’m thinking I need to rectify that. This book was FANTABULOUS! I adored Aggi and her spunky attitude. And Spencer is delicious. So much goodness, I don’t have the words
I absolutely loved this book! It was so refreshing how the main character, Aggi, is quirky, awkward, and real! She has insecurities (just like us all) and is genuine and honest with her feelings. It was extremely refreshing to read about a woman who didn’t always have it all together. I related to Aggi a lot.
The book also had me laughing a lot. I was incredibly impressed with the co-authors – I felt that the book flowed really well and I had no idea who wrote what.
Trying to write a review for this book is like asking someone to explain ambrosia. We know it’s the nectar of the gods and has mystical powers, but unless you’ve actually taken a bite, any comparison is pointless. And just like it, this story will leave you with a feeling of repletion.
Switch Stance gives us Aggi, a corky, clumsy, slightly awkward romance author who is one- hundred and fifty percent relatable. But with a switch of wardrobe, hairstyle, contact lenses, and some red lips Aggi becomes Best Selling Extreme Sports Romance Writer- Adeline Snow, who has used Skateboard Champion Spencer Garrison as her muse for multiple best sellers. I so want to tell you I have an alter ego too and related to Adeline but I don’t. It was Aggi’s awkward and less than graceful moments that resonated with me. She very much fit in with our heroines of the #MyNewLife Series.
And Spencer! Oh sweet baby angels in heaven! Spencer was everything I had been waiting for since Bourbon & Bonfires! Sexy, athletic, sensitive, family oriented. He rolled with the punches, or in this case, the elbows and took everything in stride. He was so patient and good humored, but most importantly, he didn’t let Aggi use her alter ego as a shield. He very much fits the mold of our stellar Heroes of The Country Road Series.
Switch Stance is the perfect combination of romance and laugh out loud humor! M.E. Carter and Andrea Johnston are incredible separately. Together they are unstoppable!
ME Carter and Andrea Johnston are forces to be reckoned with on their own – together, they’re a firestorm of talent and wit!
Switch Stance takes Adeline Snow, a romance author with awesome style and a great sense of humor, and throws her together with Spencer Garrison, extreme skateboarder and the muse who she bases her male characters off of.
This sweet romance is fun to read, let’s us catch up with a few of our favorite Carter and Johnston characters, will have you laughing, and leave you smiling!
I think I knew from the very first chapter that I was going to love this book. It started off very strong, introducing our main characters and their amazing qualities in a way that made me want to climb into the story and find out what was going to happen next. Our quirky heroine was so sweet and endearing that I rooted for her from the very beginning. And our sexy skateboarding muse was just the cherry on top of the story.
So you’re probably wondering why I only gave it 4 stars. Well, besides the fact that I’m extremely picky about giving out 5 stars to a book, for some reason I kind of lost my intense desire to find out what was going to happen next somewhere in the middle of this book. Be it the fact that our hero was maybe a little too perfect, or maybe a little too sweet for my taste? Or possibly just because the story slowed down a bit, I found myself feeling pretty sure I knew how this story was going to end. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I just wanted a little more excitement from the story I think.
But this book was honestly really fun. I loved Aggi (Agnes, Adi, Adeline.) She had as many personality quirks as she had names. She was so endearing and hilarious. I loved reading about her character and I loved hearing about her life. Spencer was the perfect hero for her character, balancing her craziness with patience and sincerity.
So I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves sports romance. And I really hope that Andrea Johnston and ME Carter continue to write together in the future!
I! Love! This! Book! I couldn’t put it down. I feel like these authors wrote a book just for me. I loved Aggi and Spencer. Their connection was so addicting. Agnes (Aggi for short) is a sports romance author (known as Adeline Snow) and a big fan of extreme sports, especially skateboarding. Her muse is famous skateboarder Spencer Garrison. She is awkward, socially challenged and a klutz. She meets one of her biggest fans who is Spencer’s sister. Spencer takes her to the book signing as a birthday gift. The social media world loves Spencer’s and Aggi’s interaction. All of a sudden they are on a tour together. Feelings are forming and Aggi can’t believe it’s real. Spencer can’t get enough of her. But Aggi’s own self doubt and over thinking may ruin her chance at being happy.
I could relate so much to Aggi. Growing up I was a skateboarder too and I had to stop when I hurt my knee (she stopped when she got a concussion). But I still love the skateboarding world. Especially the X-games (just like Aggi and Spencer). These authors did a great job really understanding how a skateboarder thinks and the feelings that go along with it all. And I loved when they were in California and Venice Beach and The Skateboarding Hall Of Fame were referenced (Cali girl here!). The name dropping of the some the legends had me excited and feeling like someone got me (Kim Cespedes was a idol of mine).
It was so cool to get a view point from the eyes of an author. We get a look into the writing world from Adeline Snow. Also what it’s like to do a book signing, answer questions about the process and even dealing with crazy fans. As an aspiring author I really loved this.
I also fell in love with Spencer. He was a sweetheart and a talented board rider. He is over the the fame. He just wants to lead a happy life, make a difference and someday be a family man. How he feels towards Aggi is swoon worthy. The whole time I wanted to scream at her DON’T SCREW THIS UP!
I highly recommend this book. I can’t get enough of it. This is definitely one I will be reading over and over.
Super adorable and funny book from two of my favorites. I loved how clumsy and quirky Aggi was. I loved how Spencer just accepted her. Aggi’s little quirks were fun, made her seem so real. Another amazing character was Kate! She is every Indie book nerd to a T! I loved her. Perfect book.
I’m a huge M.E. Carter fan, and this is the first book I’ve read of Andrea Johnston. I was introduced to Addi – Agnes Sylvester – in Carter’s #mynewlife series and I really liked her character. I’m so glad she got her own book. As someone who attends signings, I can picture this whole story in my mind. This story was light and sweet and I really enjoyed it. Spencer was a fantastic character. He’s so easy to fall in love with. He’s sweet, thoughtful, patient and an all-around great guy. Addi couldn’t have picked a better muse for her book boyfriends. Addi, on the other hand, is a mess! Bless her heart. Her anxiety nearly drove me nuts. But since I know how it feels to get lost in your head and let insecurities start taking up too much room, I get it. It was great to watch her pull herself out of the mess in her head and come out on the other side. Watching Spencer fall for Agnes was heart-warming. SO FREAKING SWEET!!!!
If you’re looking for something sweet, and light hearted, feel good romance-this book is it. It also helps give back to charity. WIN WIN!
